Dark as it is, this has always been my favorite Crooked Still song. What a lovely treat to have them perform it at LFH. The contrapuntal improv between Brittany and Tristan is mesmerizing.
Welcome aboard (🙂🙂) been a fan of Crooked Still since 2004, back in the very very early early days when it was just Aofie, Rushad ( the first cello player), Cory, and Dr. Liszt. You will not find any better musicians or more talented performers than these guys they were part of the progressive bluegrass/folk music revival that stretched from 2000 to 2015, they're highly musical gifted musical abilities and the ability to arrange the most of technical songs has influenced many many musical artists they are the golden standard of great musicianship.
Possibly the best treatment of this song version I've heard so far. It's deceptively simple, but not so easy to deliver without kind of breaking the thing...
AMG I so love this! The most beautiful vocal, Aiofe! So understated, seemingly quiet yet... So powerful and clear. Exquisite. The gentle 'wind and rain' repeat guides us meandering through the song, reassuringly...as what is really a horror story weaves in between! Yet isn't there something awful and familiar, here, the song of her love played on her own bones, by her beloved. And the sister! The ugly sister. Saying 'oh! Is that a swan? To her father, who obviously is also the father of the dead girl. Oh betrayal. Aaargh! Amazing.
Beautiful, haunting version of a truly gruesome old Scottish tragic ballad "The Two Sisters." See the Mike Seeger version of Wind and Rain to hear a clear rendition of the story.
Love that version. Huge Garcia and Grisman fan. It was Crooked Stills' cover of When First Unto This Country that hooked me on them. Another awesome tune done by Jerry and David!
Beautiful beautiful most beautiful version of this song I’ve found on UA-cam so far. So fantastically done. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Lee Jones interesting. Proly my least favorite. Too much wind and rain.
I found Crooked Still purely by accident today......never heard of them.
They are soooooo good !

Very dark song but delivered with such beauty
My favorite Crooked Still song. Nice touch with Chris' vocals added to it.

Absolutely beautiful rendition! The instrumentalists were so very careful not to overpower the star of the show...the lyrics and the singer.
Wow, I never actually paid too much attention to the lyrics of this one before... dark AF! :)
Love Crooked Still...but it seems strange to see Aoife without her guitar now.
WOH that was FIRE!

Good music guys- but my favorite is still the "shady "Grove " grisman and Garcia version - they nail it.

I miss these guys. (Of course, some are still actively with us, but ... )
This weekend at the Sinclair!
Goddamn they were great
mi emoziona come Sandy Denny
Wish they would have played one of my favs “the peace of wild things/dayblind” rather than this repetitive snoozer.
Those are great tunes check they're cover of Harvest Moon amazingly well done I'm hoping that they will record it at some point on any future albums.
