Everything about them is awesome tbh, they're young, talented, have good taste in music, can play their instruments like bosses, heck... even their band's name is great! Haha!
Everytime I watch a video of these guys it blows me away. Incredible picking by both Tommy & Jonny and then there's Robbie with his fast moving fingers on his left hand trying to keep up with the bow is his right hand moving at close to the speed of sound. As one person said before me - "That's crazy good."
There's a little place in Polk County Pennsylvania called Main Street Market...and on Saturday nights they have live blue grass music...usually the house band goes first..then the guest band...then the house band to close out the show...seats about 100 people including standing room only crowd!!!
3 absolutely talented and gifted young musicians. I see nothing but fame for you all. Make your mark, shine brightly and may you always be together as a band forever.
Heck Yea from Nashville passing the Mother Church every morning. I worked in a hotel where the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America held a convention for at least 15 years, and some of the young guys were jamming in wrong direction, these young men are in preservation mode and it's fantastic! I'm a fan!
I have loved you guys when you were just little grass hoppers. I love hearing your songs and love how you boys play. Im out country and its grand to always hear you play. You are like the band of brothers. Keep the vibe music going.
Can't say who was the best instrumentalist on this one. The banjo seems to take the lead but then the guitar really took off on this one. Of couse the violin is always a natural and he steps it up on this song. Is this an original by the boys?
Been watching them since Day one and there still amazing and Now as young men they are professional matured and Getting even Better. Stay who you are Boys. I am a Fan
I'm in no place to criticize either, but he had a hard time hitting the solos cleanly 2 years ago, but holy shit has he improved, and the fact is, it's a classical guitar, which only makes it harder.
No kidding. Nonetheless they're changing bluegrass: Tommy's growing expertise with that guitar in this piece actually has a bit of ... "menace" to it. Robbie's fiddle throws in blues moves, too, and johnnie is always right-on with that banjo. They're a terrific band!
Sorry but that is NOT a classical guitar (nylon string), but rather Tommy's 1939 D-28 Martin Guitar that he bought with his Savings...steel strings and all!
I wish Johnnie would fake it a little and act like its somewhat challenging for him to be so damn awesome. He could shred it in his sleep. Actually thats bascially where they go their name. Since he started at such a young age the banjo was heavy for him and he used to play it lying on his back with his eyes closed. lol Damn impressive stuff boys.
Absurd or not, I am a born again Christian & those words are not in my vocabulary and shouldn't be in any Christians way of communication! I take it that you have never had a salvation experience David Merrell with Jesus Christ, I will pray for you....you don't know what you're missing.....this life as we know it is just about over.....I pray I will see you there in heaven! In Christ Name I Pray, Amen
+SOUTHERN SANDRA simmer down now.... Yeah, it is absurd. David Merrell came in here giving the boys the highest of praise, and you took that away from him, and tried to make him look bad with your holier than thou attitude. Let the first of us free of sin cast the first stone... in other words, you shouldn't be casting stones simply because you "say" you don't curse. But you are most definitely not free of sin... none of us are. So like I said, simmer down. It's hypocritical stone-casting "so-called" Christians like yourself who cast a shadow on what Jesus died for. It must be really tough being in your circle of friends or family; having to be 100% perfect, and without fault or a modicum of sin in order to not be frowned upon. Like Jack Nicholson said in the movie "As good as it gets"; Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.
+David Merrell Ignore the witch-hunt... No good deed, or good comment goes unpunished. lol. Yeah, the boys are DAMN fine musicians. Damn fine I tell ya'! And I'll be damned if I'll let anyone tell me different, or engage me in an ad-hominem attack that has nothing to do with what I was trying to say!
YOU ALL NEED TO LOOK UP MERLE FEST IN WILKESBORO NC. ALL TIME MUSIC FESTIVAL I AM SURE YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS. BEEN GOING THERE FOR YEARS YOU NEED TO COME THERE AND PLAY ON THE WATSON STAGE!!!
Drive-wise this version is better than Bela Fleck's, in all good humor though I think Bela would know this. :) I mean nothing personal. Just giving credit where credit is due here. These boys have the timing strategy and drive delivery most adults have not YET mastered for themselves. Most players only "drive the banjo", these kids "PLOW IT!". This is the evolution of banjo pickin' in Jonny, and there is a strategy here. :)
Gosh I have followed your songs and progression since 4 years ago on youtube, you guys are the best! Congratulations! (any plans to come to Ireland? =D)
Great song and performance! I just posted a note for note transcription video of Tony Rice's original break on this song on my channel. His guitar solo is killer!
this is some hot stuff but I'm happy to see them contemporarily grouped with their own peer group, the more recent bassist and drummer. I found this combo in this vid to seem disturbingly missmatched.....not that it didn't sound awesome but it was like "banjo boys meet Clem Kadittlhopper band" rather than the "Sleepy Man Banjo *Boys* " .
Ok so 3 brothers can play at the level of professionals that have practiced and learned these instruments their entire life... Holy god... Are they genetically modified humans?!?! (Jk btw)
I don't want to be rude, just although you and I both love the music they've made and performed, they are individual people with a life to live. If they decide to stop doing bluegrass or any music at all, that's their choice. But you're right: they are fantastic!
173 likes and ONE dislike???? Who the hell is the ONE person that didn't think these kids are awesome!
I can't help but like every video of the sleepy men.
i cant help but like you for liking the guy who likes every video of the sleepy men!!!!!!
Everything about them is awesome tbh, they're young, talented, have good taste in music, can play their instruments like bosses, heck... even their band's name is great! Haha!

These three brothers should praise the lord with every opportunity he has bleesed them extremely im stunned they are are outstanding

That's the first time I've seen Johnny tip his hat or acknowledge the crowd after the song. Sounds great as always
Man! I love how the adults in the back are struggling to keep up with the boys!
3 absolutely talented and gifted young musicians. I see nothing but fame for you all. Make your mark, shine brightly and may you always be together as a band forever.

These guys just keep getting better, and better, and BETTER! Yeah!!
These guys are as good as any I've ever heard...if not better. Just unbelievably good!!
Woah. Sounds just like Bela and Tony. Like the same. Just as good...
Wow! What an involving performance!... So powerful! These brothers put rocks dancing around them! Congratulations! I wish you all the best!
How does 3 brothers just choose an instrument to play and master it so well if my ears had a fuse attached my head would explode
Y'all reviving my interest and appreciation of bluegrass. A-one musicianship. I love your originals and singing, too. Encore!
Wow, wow and wow!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, what a show, I hope these brothers grow and can continue to make more wonderful music. Please don't stop.
Unfortunately they did. Jonny's in a new band with a friend. It's not bluegrass.
@@DobbyPotter64 You mean unfortunately they did not, their new music is pretty meh. Not the same, not bluegrass at all
please, please, please, please, please, record this on your next album. this is awesome, as is.
Been watching them since Day one and there still amazing and Now as young men they are professional matured and Getting even Better. Stay who you are Boys. I am a Fan
This .... is as GOOD as it gets! I've followed these fellows for ten years (or more) and watched them grow up!
this is what high cost lessons and the best instruments gets you

I'm sitting in my home in Hampton NJ and you guys are unbelievable...Jack Baker NYC
Fantastic !
The guitar's got a really nice sound here.
Tommy's 1939 d-28 Martin Guitar! It sounds awesome!
Man, they were awesome before, but they're actually getting even better, especially (and I hope this doesn't sound patronising) the guitar player.
I'm in no place to criticize either, but he had a hard time hitting the solos cleanly 2 years ago, but holy shit has he improved, and the fact is, it's a classical guitar, which only makes it harder.

they remind me of new grass revival in a way on their harder driving songs. I love it!
Just briliant. Wow ! The music is brilliant but seriously at such a young age? u guys are going places !!
Im a big fan , these boys are unbelievable!
You guys are true masters! You got the MOJO! You are SHINING !

Uaaauuuu they are awesome !!!! Very talented musicians....hope to see them playing someday.
Wow, the group and the SOUND have filled out a lot.... Fiddle playing needed a little more boost for balance. a wahoo performance.
You are the best
I'm an instant fan!!!!
awesome. very good. enjoy it. keep with it. love the country music best in the world.
I wish Johnnie would fake it a little and act like its somewhat challenging for him to be so damn awesome. He could shred it in his sleep. Actually thats bascially where they go their name. +David Merrell You could have said all that without the cursing.....took away from the whole message.

+SOUTHERN SANDRA Do you even know what cursing is? He was not cursing anyone.

That is real talent. he should hook up with steve martin and the steep canyon rangers.
Johnny played with Steve and some others on a show honoring banjo greats a few years back.
Someone please tell the uploader that Bela Fleck wrote this song... not the Mizzone Brothers. (who cover it very well, mind you)

Great job on a great tune!
May I ask what type of banjo pickup or microphone system is being used?
What happened to 2019? No videos? You guys need to keep it bluegrass seems like your drifting from it. Love the bluegrass keep it up
I don't want to be rude, just although you and I both love the music they've made and performed, they are individual people with a life to live. If they decide to stop doing bluegrass or any music at all, that's their choice. But you're right: they are fantastic!
It probably doesn't sound like how I meant it. But you're right. Was just wondering if they had videos from 2019.
@@stepheneicher6158 sorry! I probably misunderstood the comment
I wonder why they never went on America Got Talent or some other talent show? I guess because they didn't know about them?
