Don't worry about being alone. Be happy with Bill Evans and His music. Stay healthy
Alone is just a state of mind, now we have all opportunities in this world to be together. For example, imagine all of us who like to listen to Bill Evans. We are friends even if we never have met.
I believe in the virtue of being alone. Choosing to be alone is a great strength. Because there are times when we are alone in this world. Art helps us a lot here. and yes we are friends even though we haven't seen each other, we do the same things and we love the same thing. Bill Evans is a specific example here. I love your perspective. With love
That is a generous and kind thought.
@@tipula You are all kind people. I love you too.
@@tipula I love what you say because it's EXACTLY my thought and my own way/philosophy of life. I'm alone but i don't feel alone, because i feel complete with myself. I connected to myself and to my creativity, i'm a drawer, writer, poetess, and i discovered jazz recently. So i have buy the cd and the vinyle version of the album portrait of Bill Evans and i really enjoy it. When i listen to this music on my turntable while creating, and drinking a coffee, I have and i am everything. I deeply think that art and passion are here to connect us with our soul and feel great with ourself.
Alone don't mean to feel lonely, it's only society that made a taboo of being alone. While alone people are often those who know better who they really are inside. That's a treasure.
So i don't think that the key is always to reunite with others (beside, we are all connected by the soul), but first of all, to connect with ourself. To be with others should be a real choice from the soul, and not an obligation to not feel alone.
Bill Evans never leaves you alone. Like Bach and nobody else.
I was listening to this in my office right now and a colleague came in stating that Bill Evans sounded like "elevator music". I will never ever speak to him again.
Well, I love Bill Evans , maybe you could try to agree to disagree. LOL❤
I totally agree with you...
To the person who says that they were born alone you are not born alone your mother was with you as she was your vessel that propelled you into this world
Same thing with my best friend. she went "ewwww". We are still best friends but, sorry, I'll know forever her musical taste is terrible. There ARE gradations of goodness, beauty, truth, sincerity, in all the arts. And Bill is way up there.🥰
Yeah, the hippest elevator in the world. I'd just ride up and down and never leave.
I've just heard this recordding for the first time in my life, and although I have heard all the tunes played by Bill and his trio, this is the most beautiful of all, not only because of his playing but the bass lines and the crystal-clear recording of them. It is such a joy to listen to that it is quite moving. Thank you....

I dig Bill Evans.
I adore Bill Evans over all !!❤
Bill was patient enough and eloquent enough to let the music happen.
I'm going to try and remember to tell myself that. "Be patient enough to let the music happen." Brilliant.
He accessed the higher realms ….he didn’t just let the music happen. It is critically thought out, his facility and fluid ability, his command of jazz music’s vocabulary is all encompassing and consuming for him. He dug down deep to always give the melody it’s due and built very carefully and consciously on the motif, all sounding effortless to most listeners. He never played any unnecessary notes, gracefully moving through chord progressions with economy of movement…always very controlled. The “music happened” after laboriously and joyfully arranging and getting the songs under his fingers according to his taste first.

My absolute favourite jazz pianist, his sound is so crystal clear, magical sound, his sessions with Scot La Faro on base are masterful.
Scott is my favorite, but Eddie Gomez and Marc Johnson were great too!
@@davidmaslow2931 Thank you for your comments, Eddie Gomez was extraordinary, I am not familiar with Marc Johnson.
@HowardAdamsky He doesn't have any relation to clarinet so there isn't much there for you
To the max! Just so clear and pleasant melodies. He just gets better the more I hear this master!
'Bass' as in 'double bass '- sounds the same as 'base' but is written differently. Sorry, I'm an English teacher 😁
Bill Evans said more with fewer notes & chords, well-placed & well-played, than anyone that I can think of.
Have you listened to Fred Hersh? He also has these moments
@@ricardoreis8096 Yes. Here in Cincinnati.
@@eottoe2001 I just heard him live a few months ago, it was a really subtle, amazing concert. He really has a nuanced touch... How did you enjoy his concert?
@ricardoreis8096 I've heard of Fred Hersh, but never listened yet. Thanks for the tip.
Now, feel like Evans or Pessoa, alone again but again is forever
Unbelievable musicianship. Right up there at the very highest level. Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Wagner, Debussy, Ellington, Davis, Evans...
misicianship is not a word. hey you named names. which have nothing to do with jazz. just don't finish on Debussy, finish on Bach.
@@iomongol agree about Bach, but those other composers have to do with music, and jazz is music.

Another Sunday morning with Bill Evans, I just listened to Nina Simone , the emerald goddess of Jazz.
Sometimes...you get so Alone....it just makes sense. - Charles Bukowski.
Alone when he practiced all of those countless hours of his life yielded a creative improvisational genius second to none!
Thank the algorithm for suggesting this, thank the maker for this beauty... Bill Evans has a new fan today!
The algorithm works in mysterious ways.
How can one not sense the power of this? 🩵
Evans never misses. I am going through a rough time and this music helps me. I have to avoid thinking about his life story though.
A lone shining star amongst flaming stars. A true talent that lasts. Peace always, Bill.
He is the master of jazz piano...
lovely music, suggestion: maybe mask mr Evans so the light flares don't go through him :)
Good morning, Hal Blake.
Another morning with the sound of Bill Evans playing piano 🎹 as I drink my coffee ☕️ 😊

Beh ,no si puo mai sapere...
👍
The one and only ❤
And still, there is Bill; timeless with the utmost good taste. Wonderful.
Bill Evans does well with being alone... 👍
I do not believe that Bill Evans ever recovered musically or emotionally from the loss of Scott LaFaro. It's as if LaFaro's ghost continued to play with him for the rest of his life. Bill plays hearing Scott, no matter who else is with him, or solo. Those two could hear each other before any notes were played.
Sublime ... the soundtrack to a day in paradise surely
MAGNIFIQUE

What an artist. I love his playing, always. A real jazz Master!
Jazz Master--a model of Fender guitar.
Exquisite. Thank you for posting.
Beauty and love are but two aspects of the same realty. They go together like the Yang of the spiritual realm and the Yin of the creation itself. That's what I personally perceive when I listen to any of Bill Evans's playing.😇
@webxpolice ??
Beautiful "Spring is Here." I've never heard this particular version before.
El mejor de todo los tiempos yo aqui en este rincon de Chile intentando tocar el piano
Outstanding compilation. Thanks.
In a way we're all alone together thanks to you posting this. Thank you for making my quiet evening all the more tranquil. I hope your week treats you well!
Thank you so much.. I loved your beautiful comment ♥️
Fantastic music.
Beautiful
Y'all may like to see the interview with his brother where he goes into the depths of nailing the basics, then does My Funny .... with increasing levels of abstraction while keeping like every note referenced to that beaut of a standard -- why not, eh, if you can...
one of a kind
absolute Bliss....thank you🌻
There's just a certian vibe to Bill's piano playing that I love. Thanks for the upload.
I used to catch him at a gig in a funky joint on Staten Island. It was a trio, Nick Stablious on bass IIRC. They would come over and shoot the shit on break. Evans was quiet and withdrawn, like shy. They were great. My buddy and our dates were the only folks in the place who really dug them. Long ago, far away. From my hometown, too, but I never knew him there of course.
beautiful.
i used to listened Erik Satie music..that will be crazy to say is Satie influenced Bill Evans , but some of Bill Evans's music resemble some Satie's music..
it's definitely possible. As a result, jazz dominated during the Bill Evans era. Names like Bill Evans may have been influenced by names like Erik Satie as their predecessors, of course.
I agree about Satie being close to jazz.

It seems to me that it draws quite a bit from Debussy... but we also know that Jazz has little compositional autonomy, so little surprise.
biblical. thanks.
you are a gift.
34:47 is just amazing... no words.
This is wonderful

This is Town hall live recording, not "alone".
Anyway, this is one of the best performance of his life.
Who is the double bass player?
the whole collection is from Town Hall? I can't seem to find them all

And in the future, Hal Blake, I think that you have to post the playlists of Bill Evans yourself, the names of the tunes and at what time. This seems to be a long journey. As a matter of fact, it is your responsibility to do so. Not depending of us listeners, who eventually will do your job. Best wishes!
very nice ideas but unfortunately copyright is a big issue here. I don't make any money here but a few of my videos have been deleted due to these copyrights. Personally, I would love for this to be a special page for Bill Evans. But maybe in the future I will find another alternative. I've been listening to Bill Evans for years and I often think I'm late for these posts. But thank you very much for these nice wishes and suggestions..
@@tipula Yes I understand. Good luck!
Listening it sounds like the Eddie Gomez/Marty Morell Trio w Bill. Or Marc Johnson and Joe. Does anyone know?
what have you smoked?
I do tend to agree! It is frustrating to have to mark them ourselves, Bill himself would never have been lazy or slipshod giving attention to every detail of his performances, hard work, discipline and dedication being part of his essence!!
