I hate when honey comb protrudes beyond the width of the frames!! It doesn't make extracting any easier or better. In fact, it promotes a loss of honey when harvesting since most of it falls with the wax cappings. This in turn, leads you to spending more time and effort attempting to separate the wax from honey.

Beginner question: if you split a weak hive into 3 nucs in the fall, how do the nucs survive the winter?
