Looks like a pretty full race lineup! An event on the Blackheart would be great to see, thanks Chase for keeping this on track.
You guys should definitely check out the new scott scale gravel rc. It's an xc hardtail with a rigid fork. Sounds like it might be very suitable for some of your races, especially for smoother mountain bike races. Best of luck with the events.
OakAss is the hidden gem on the back half of this list. 4x around a 25mi loop of OakMtnStPark (perhaps the best singletrack in the Southeast imo)
Caught that Grateful Dead nod...nice...
What tires are you running for Cohutta?
Look up 'Revenge of the Rattlesnake' XC race in West Virginia. Looks very technical (crazy roots with rock gardens). Its held in the best area of the state for mountain biking over by Davis (which is pretty much second only in reputation to Brevard and certain parts of Georgia for best mountain biking on entire east coast).
Usually held around kate Seotember. I dont think the 2025 race is released yet.
You WILL need to dust off that Allied BC40 for this event.
GRUSK is early July for a WV race
Probably too 'gravel' for them, as the top finishers average speed for the different events seems very fast, even with how hilly it is. They seem like they do better if the course us more XC technical.
I just signed up for my first GRUSK (80 miler). Cant wait. Really like the multi-day camping as part of the event.
Oak Ass is 4 loops of 25 mile lap of Oak Mtn. .... I ma also doing it but probably not the 100 but maybe the 75. One loop is tough doing 4 is a feat and great challenge.
I did the 100 last year, 4 x 26mile laps. For 2025 it's supposed to be 2 x 50mile laps. The trails at Oak Mtn are a great mix of smooth flow, vintage singletrack, fire road climbs, and chunk dh. I rode a BC40.
Didn't knew Jesse used to swim, any chance we see you at a IM event someday?
What’s that?
MF DOOM reference...
Maah Daah Hey isn't exactly smooth. Scenery is great. Its hot and desolate. But it's mostly a bumpy, stomped up, rut of a trail used by cows..
This is exactly the comment i was looking for. So your saying a full suspension bike is optional?
Pisgah 111 is not a favorite due to the hike -a-bike sections and the multiple knee deep creek crossings. Unless they changed the course the 55 is the the better course imho.
Haha I really enjoy that part of it. Totally fair to not like it though. To me it just feels like a major adventure with that stuff in it.
What's your FTP
I don't really know right now, its been a year sense I tested it. Maybe will make a video about it. Like film the first test then a test later in the year or something like that. Last year I didn't train at all and was around a 370 for a 20 min test. I used to be able to do 400-410 and now that im taking training seriously again thats my goal to get back to.
NO barry roublaix??
Isn’t that like a road race?
@@bicyclestationnope gravel, huge ass race with thousands of people up in Michigan.
@@bicyclestationI believe they claim worlds biggest gravel race
I know what it is. But it’s always sounded like people race road bikes at it.
@ Oh shit idk? I just saw “worlds largest gravel race” within a few hours of indy and signed up. Watching YT videos it is at least off-road lmao. They recommend 34-38 low tread tires so almost a road race it seems. Might need to switch my 45mm x1s out lmao
BT epic?
What’s the date?
@@bicyclestation I have no idea 😭
Bummer, yea hard to schedule it without a date. Fingers crossed theres no overlap.
