Peter R. No kidding about that. I set my DVR to record the race since i had to work and the stupid thing didnt. Thanks to this 30 min recap, im up to date. Go Will!!
Quick Ideas for race fans: 1. Every race is more exciting AT THE TRACK. 2. Not every race is going to have 25 changes of lead every lap. NASCAR has been chasing that "golden race" of 43 (40...38...) cars in a photo finish for years and have made a mess of things. Remember... it could always be worse. 3. Danica brought a lot of new people to racing. My daughters got into racing because of her. Our family now can go to races and we all have a great time. 4. Thanks for these Fast Forwards!
This was an interesting 500. The restarts and pit strategy were pretty hectic, and the tough handle of the new car was too much for even the most experienced drivers. On the other hand, they need to add more downforce for next year. After the first few restart laps it was mostly single file racing afterwards. Real MVP was Rossi though. Started second to last and finished 4th. Had several daredevil moves on restarts too.
The best thing about the race, is hopefully we do not ever have to hear about Danica Patrick anymore. There are many racers - do not like hearing so much about her and ignoring others. Also thankfully the cameras were not looking up the nose of Michael Andretti the entire race as they have done in prior years. And I wish that the cameras had not followed the winners wife so much - she was really annoying. Congratulations to Will Power - glad he won it. Otherwise, not a bad race - thankfully no racers were hurt, which is always good!
I was sitting in the North Chute and every time there was a caution all we heard over the Speedway was Danica this and Danica that! It got very annoying and made one wonder if there was actually 32 other drivers in that race."
Tomislav Dragić 100% agree..... Indycar in general is better on the road courses too with the 2 minute push to pass button that increases boost and passing in corners
Dominant Indy for Will Power....A thoroughly deserved Indy 500 win for him !! ...Who says a circuit racer can't win the biggest oval race in the world..............
Rossi was listed by Vegas as the favourite to win... And had the cars had just a little more downforce, I reckon he would have. Still though, slick Willy P finds himself amongst the all time greats!!!
Last few years were not great races either. Constant lead swapping because no one could run out front. Sure the last 5 laps were mostly exciting but the rest wasn't . At least this aero kit gives a reward for running out front with a good setup , you could actually build a little bit of a lead . Given some time to get to grips with it (its only the 4th track) and some tweaks from Dallara this will serve us well with new engines and some more power to increase the drafting and cornering speed differential as part of the race dynamics.
This is a better coverage. Hope to see more in-car views during the race. At 19:06 you could have stayed on that great view a bit longer, for its entirety. Only the capable need apply for .that. 18 seconds.
I'm hopeful now we will never have to hear Danica Patrick's name every again. All I've every heard from 2005 all the way up to 2018 is that woman's bloody name. Hopefully they will talk about all the drivers racing from now on.
Commenter Five I wouldn't mind so much if she had won the Indy 500 or the IRL title in her career but she hasn't and when you look through her career she hasn't done that much to have the spot light shining down on her. I'm not sure want you have to do to be famous in the US but it seems to me as a Brit that you don't have to do much if your a woman.
Very strategic race but me personally very disappointed In terms of the race the aero kit needs serious tweaking not a lot of downforce follow the leader racing .. btw Rossi came to race and the main reason I got back into Indy racing again congrats to will powers well deserve 🏎🏁
Too many spinouts by top drivers. They need to figure out how to get the cars to stick to the track without overly excessive speed. How about a supermodified wing on top or just running the race with Supermodifieds with normally aspirated offset engines?
super modifieds are pretty much the best kept secret in motorsport, pls dont compare them to nascar. Although running them at indy would be something to see, indy cars are doing just fine haha.
These cars have gone backwards in speedway configuration, just not enough downforce to close up on other cars and the leaders caught the tail end way too quickly, you guys need more downforce especially for texas otherwise it'll be a crash fest.
I love these 30min recaps. If I miss a race, I can still keep up with the season.

R R Same thing happened to me. Thought it was setup to record, and it didn’t. Still a little pissed I missed the full race, but this video was great.

The absolute joy on Power’s face in victory lane said it all. Truly the greatest race in the world.
Didn't expect the racing to change that much. but I did anticipate Rossi putting on a show!! Dude gets me aaaaaammmpp'd!!
It seemed like Rossi was the only driver who actually raced!
And TK.
K Ben24 Servia as well. His restarts were manic
greg j Id say Ed did a good job
These fast fowards are amazing. Never stop, Indycar, keep up the good content!

Agreed. 3 laps after a restart was a freight train.
and servia? he passed the bump day in the limits and he was close to win the race
AMAZING WIN FROM POWER!! And what a reaction from his wife!!! Great! Well done!!!!
very happy to see Will win this massive deal in moto sports, Go aussie Go :)
C'mon Aussie C'mon, C'mon!
You Beauty Mate.
Great Show Indycar.
Hermosa pista! Es todo un espectáculo! Hermoso sonido de motores! Gracias
I'm definitely watching this over the Monaco GP next year. Monaco's a snooze compared to this :D

Unless I missed it, I didn't see Michael or Chip get any face time on TV. Now that I think about it, the only owners who got face time was Roger & AJ.
Danica is the most overrated driver in the sport's history. IMHO
Patrick crashed 68 laps in. It didn't take long
Well at least she Outpaced Rossi and Wickens at Quali
Better race than Monaco GP
anything is better than monaco...
Tomislav Dragić 100% agree..... Indycar in general is better on the road courses too with the 2 minute push to pass button that increases boost and passing in corners
They were both terrible
They must have Zen focus to do 200 laps and not crash. Impressive.
Thnx for this, i didn't get to see it live :(
Hoping you guys post the full race. IndyCar is awesome about giving us lots of online content. Keep it up! :-)
They will, they always do :)
Dominant Indy for Will Power....A thoroughly deserved Indy 500 win for him !! ...Who says a circuit racer can't win the biggest oval race in the world..............
Carpenter’s inability to stay close to Power on those late restarts really killed his chances.
Lap 162 was crazy with all those cars 4 wide
YES! YOU BLOODY RIPPER! VICTORY TO MY HOMEBOY POWER!
Hardly any time passed before all the cars were in single file. The spread was so big by lap 8. Need to rethink the aero.
Rossi was listed by Vegas as the favourite to win... And had the cars had just a little more downforce, I reckon he would have. Still though, slick Willy P finds himself amongst the all time greats!!!
102ND INDY 500 CHAMPION WILL POWER
102ND INDY 500 CHAMPION WILL POWER
The new Superspeedway kit didn't work too much. Needs more drag but not much

Danica Crash lap 78. I had lap 120 in the pool here.

Last year's cars were perfection. Shouldn't have touched the aero on them, in my opinion.
Full race please

And the race will move to NBC, too.
STEVEN.L.1987 + Let it be so. They jump on every bandwagon for a promotion, meaning dollar.

james40778 same problem we have in the united kingdom, when sky has all rights to all formula one live grand Prix next year
Very strategic race but me personally very disappointed In terms of the race the aero kit needs serious tweaking not a lot of downforce follow the leader racing .. btw Rossi came to race and the main reason I got back into Indy racing again congrats to will powers well deserve 🏎🏁
In James Davidsons defense Sato pushed into him
Too bad pippa couldn't run... Great race
The Indy 500 was fantastic, need to get rid of the F-1 lines.
The new car did not give an exciting finish like the previous years finishes.
Dwayne Mathias agreed. The need a little more power and aero
Need a little bit of downforce
I think they took a bit too much downforce from the rear.
I do like the drafting dynamic though
To much follow the leader reminds me of the early 2000’s love the new look to the body kit but really needs more downforce in the rear
Not the most exciting Indy 500 in recent memory.
Here come the Reddit memes.
Too bad Helio crashed out on what is very likely is last race. He is a great driver and Roger isn't giving him the potential he deserves.
Cindric said he's going to be back next year
Shark24 He did? I hope he is right
@@Shark2497 Helio is back for the Indianapolis races only

NASCAR has nothing on INDYCAR RACING NASCAR is for the baby's.
I was there, tough time staying awake, "expert drivers" kept losing control. My last race.
1 race in 6 this year is bad after 5 really good one's and that makes it terrible?
NASCAR is a seperate sport. Racing is about innovation. No one said the first 500 had an exciting finish. Its not for your enterntainment
Too many spinouts by top drivers. They need to figure out how to get the cars to stick to the track without overly excessive speed. How about a supermodified wing on top or just running the race with Supermodifieds with normally aspirated offset engines?
sure, then while we're at it we'll call this new form NASCAR
Lol, top drivers spinning out, and somehow guys like Kimball finish the race
super modifieds are pretty much the best kept secret in motorsport, pls dont compare them to nascar. Although running them at indy would be something to see, indy cars are doing just fine haha.
What engines do they use
Twin Charged 2.2 L V6 supplied by Honda and Chevrolet
According to the official Fan Info on the indycar.com website which I can't post unfortunatlely
FloosWorld I thought they sort of sounded like f1 cars
Nah their engines are quite different since Indycar doesn't have ERS. Instead of that they use Push to Pass on every track except Ovals
maybe the most boring Indy 500 race, i would like the 2015-2017 aerokit
These cars have gone backwards in speedway configuration, just not enough downforce to close up on other cars and the leaders caught the tail end way too quickly, you guys need more downforce especially for texas otherwise it'll be a crash fest.
these are about as much aero as a 90s champ car so those were fine at texas
That race and the new car were terrible, boring terrible finish, spins for no reason, terrible tv ratings, sad
am i the only one who made money off davison crashing out? made 60 bucks lmao
I'm surprised the officials didn't call him in and tell them to fix the car to get it up to speed or park it.
