Senegal is said to be targeting four FA-50 Fighting Eagle attack jets from South Korea

THE REPUBLIC OF SENEGAL, a country in West Africa, is said to be interested in acquiring the FA-50 Fighting Eagle light attack fighter jet made by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) from South Korea. Information is circulating that Dakar will acquire four FA-50 units worth 147 million USD.
The FA-50 Fighting Eagle is a derivative of the T-50 Golden Eagle advanced training jet with the ability to conduct air combat both air to air and air to ground. Senegal is eyeing the FA-50 after plans to acquire the L-39NG light attack aircraft from Aero Vodochody, Czech Republic failed.
Rumors that Senegal will acquire the FA-50 also cannot be separated from the news issued by KAI in September 2022. At that time, KAI stated that the first FA-50 would be sent to a country in Africa, but it was not named.
Senegal and Egypt are considered potential recipients of the FA-50. Egypt has recent ties with South Korea, arising from an agreement to produce T-50/FA-50 aircraft at their AOI aircraft factory based in Helwan. This factory had previously manufactured Chinese K-8E training aircraft with a special license for the Egyptian Air Force.
The T-50 series, including the FA-50, is known as a multirole and highly efficient aircraft for high-performance fighter jets such as the F-16 and F-35.
