I'm laughing already about Jack calling the muesli mix 'something a bit more austere.' But yeah, after the nut butter bar, I can see it. And with those nut butter ones, you have to get a bite out of the middle of the bar, where the nut butter is like the deep end of a swimming pool. Delicious. Okay, I'll watch the rest of this now and thanks, Jack and Matthew, for this taste test, and I say that as a big fan of Clif Bars.
I never thought I’d like watching two guys eat on camera, yet here I am... Loved the video! Was the office stinking from all the gas after the gels and blocks?😂
Fun fact, your Alpine Muesli is branded as Sierra Trail mix in the US. Also, I went on the clif website to confirm and the US has so many more flavors!
Three years into cycling, I’ve formed the highly scientific theory that chewing Clif Blocks requires the expenditure of more energy and precious resources than each block gives in return... lol
I"m currently quarantined at home with what is hopefully just a mild flu. Watching you two handle the products, press bars against your noses, and then sharing them - is giving me the 'that's not sanitary!' willies. Oh how quickly the times have changed.
Those nut butter filled ones are a staple on long rides for me, they are delicious but more importantly moist enough to eat on the saddle, whereas the "normal" clifs are too dry for my taste (and needs to be eaten with plenty of water)
Thanks for taking one for the viewers. I quite enjoy those bars on a ride but do find some of them excessively sweet, almost throat burning level sweet sometimes. I’m looking at you carrot cake bar. Time to replenish my stock!
I use SiS gels and bars, but much prefer the Clif bars for taste. The SiS bars feel much drier and simply don’t taste that good. They taste like a sports product used for data-driven results, whereas Clif bars are tasty enough to eat as a genuine snack. I use a top tube bag on long rides so I cut my bars into 6-8 small pieces so I can grab a small bite without reaching into a jersey pocket and fiddling with wrappers while riding (I use a ziploc bag, opened, inside the top tube bag). Gels are easily ripped open with one hand and teeth, but not bar wrappers in my experience.
Great video - dream day at the job right here taste testing Clif bars! Personally I prefer the coffee gels over fruity everyday! What happened to carrot cake??!! The best clif bar flavor! #bringbackcarrotcake
Would be great to see some smaller brands like Veloforte, Outdoor Provisions, Luchos Dillitos and Skratch Labs. Also Maurten because it's really different.
This is absolutely not a paid for video. All of our sponsored content is clearly marked as such when we upload to UA-cam, and in the first line of the video description. If you don't see it then no money has changed hands. No exceptions. Hope that helps from your friends at BikeRadar!
A note on gels - if it’s not labelled “isotonic” like SiS gels, then you need to have the gel AND about 250ml of water to avoid gut issues. Whereas the SiS gels don’t require any additional fluids when consuming them.
I used to eat White choc macadamia clif bars all the time, then I tried Blue berry and then the white choc just felt sickly to me so I was eating blue berry bars all the time, even got my dad hooked on them, almost eating 1 a day, then they just started feeling too sweet. Now im on peanut butter clif bar and also filled bar if I can get cheap. I think gels and especially the bloks are a rip off. Here in Australia they want like $5 Aud for the bloks and $2.50 for the gels. I dont understand why they are more expensive then Clif Bars? I get bars for $2 - 3 dollars. I would have the blocks all the time if they were maybe $1 - 1.50 Aud and 70c for a gel.
try swiss premium nutrition winforce. they have gels tastes: banana, mango, coconut, chocolate, salty peanut etc. all very natural and they contain more fat/oil less sugar than regualr gels.
Good, I thought I was going crazy. I don't know why they'd export horrendous flavors like White Chocolate Macadamia and not classics like Oatmeal Raisin though.
please please please please try GU, I really want to branch out with gu and this video helped me branch out with cliff! please try gu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would you try the whole Clif Bar range? And what energy range would you like to see us try next?
All the Jelly Belly flavors, regular and sport beans. And that might take, like, all afternoon.
How about trying some recovery shakes and drinks
The premise of this video is silly and I love it!
And we love you!!!! Thanks for commenting, Jack
Could not agree more! :) I love it!
There is no way you guys didn't have upset stomachs afterwards. Great video!
We spent the rest of the day feeling *quite* anxious and over-caffeinated, but we'll do anything in the name of science. Thanks for watching, Jack
"Find out how many kill you and take one less" -old pro cycling advice
Valid not only for energy bars and gels, I’d suppose?
Are you reviewing Dialysis clinics in your next video? Christ that’s a ton of sugar. 😂

I can’t believe I just watched this the whole way through! Perfect BikeRadar premise, excellent delivery and surprisingly mesmerising 😂

Makes sense, muesli isn't very well known here, and I don't think Sierra means much there either.
Margarita is the best for the heat, if you're from Texas guaranteed it's your favorite.
I suggest you try them again, but this time 8 months' past its printed expiry date. That's what I'm doing right now.
What can I say? I overbought.
woozer 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ha! Me too, forgot I had them, OOD Cool Mint Chocolate is kinda solid!
Same lol, it’s all good if kept in the spare room or pantry. Haven’t died from using July 2019 gels either...so far...
Mububban23 🤣🤣🤣

That was just entertaining... good humour but useful as well. Well done lads.
White chocolate macadamia nut and Bluberry Crisp are my favorite bars

makko9000
Great tip, I’ll have to try them myself!

This is excactly the kind of content I've come to expect from BikeRadar. Good job!
aw there werent any of the berry smoothie bars included.
gotta say i quite enjoy the weird and wacky content
Everesting is nothing compared to this. Seriously impressed!
Most random thing that ever came out from this channel
+sodium bloks taste salty ;) I have a hard time keeping my sodium levels up. Will give them a try and let you know if I can get used to it.

I agree with the peanut butter and cherry blocks conclusion. However I enjoy the choc-mint. Margarita is great in 32+(C) degree heat
Scratch Labs, or SiS would be an interesting set of trials. even better if you could compare them head to head.
Brilliant video, do this with all brands
Great video - dream day at the job right here taste testing Clif bars! Personally I prefer the coffee gels over fruity everyday! What happened to carrot cake??!! The best clif bar flavor! #bringbackcarrotcake
I'd eat that. I bought a bunch of boxes as part of my Corona Virus Pandemic supplies...
Now that was epic

Haha great video! I love the Mocha and I DO like the white chocolate and macadamia, just goes to show personal taste is.
This was quite an enjoyable ad. Personally i find the size of their gel sachets to be way to small however.

@@bikeradar Quite an enjoyable unintentional ad.
lol, thanks for watching!
Legend said Jack and Matthew called sick at work next day. 😊
Wait, what!? No Oatmeal Raisin? Don't tell me that you guys don't have Oatmeal Raisin in the UK!🥣🍇🍫🚫😭

I take it that Joe ate all the leftovers :.)
Or at least a light snack of a few crumbs :)
@@robbchastain3036 you could be forgiven for thinking that, but actually Max and Felix from the video team had a good go at them! Thanks for watching!

That has made me was the product than any sponsored video.
Great video! Loved it!! Try different Gatorades next time.
Not a sponsored video but what good fortune for Clif that they happened to find some of 50 Anglos on Earth that actually like Peanut Butter
How about some Rice Cake recipes and stuff you 🤬 can make yourself as a comparison to the commercial products? 🥘
awesome information lads, someone had to do it right :) may I ask Mathew a question, why did you change your name sir ?
What was it before?
try swiss premium nutrition winforce. they have gels tastes: banana, mango, coconut, chocolate, salty peanut etc. all very natural and they contain more fat/oil less sugar than regualr gels.
I like the chocolate cliff gel
High5 has some really great gels. Much more liqudiy than those. Especially the "Aqua" series are really great.
You are cool!
They would have set some PBs after all those
I tried energy gels.... They honestly did absolutely nothing for me. The bloks on the other hand are great
Would you do a video on why bars?
They survived, but the toilet didn't
You lads are to cycling fodder, how Oz Clarke and Jilly Goolden were to wine in the 90's... Feel free to pick which one you are chaps ;-)
Whoa, a cyclist mukbang!
Hahahaha...
We have a lot more flavors in the USA.
Good, I thought I was going crazy. I don't know why they'd export horrendous flavors like White Chocolate Macadamia and not classics like Oatmeal Raisin though.
Cycling experts turn food crits
please please please please try GU, I really want to branch out with gu and this video helped me branch out with cliff! please try gu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best cliff gell by far is vanilla
Anyone find clif bar wrappers hard to open or tear open in an unclean manner? Maybe I should carry scissors like these guys to open my bars.
I don't trust the judgment of someone who buttons his shirt all the way up.... 🤔
@Savage Poet Just my super swole neck after eating all those protein bars 💪💪💪💪💪💪
Shop ‘own brand’ energy bars? :D taste test each shops value-type bar!
Why not just take a PB&J on your ride. It's a hell of a lot cheaper, and easier to chew.
bro on the right sounds like harry styles
Do SIS, High5 and the whole lot.
Add some Pervitin to your riding kit.
Will help you go 500km on one sitting.
I agree that chocolate and mint is a disgusting combination.
Clif bars are so expensive in Portugal, it should be a right not a luxury.
try the SIS range
