Oh I’m so glad you posted this video! I just bought one of these this past summer from a local shop. Mine has the cabinet on top with glass doors. But it has the same configuration as yours behind the drop-down secretary panel. It wasn’t until I got at home and started playing with it but I realize that those two little panels pulled out that are located on either side of the tiny door. What a treasure! My piece was painted a dark gray by the shop owner where I purchased it. She bought the piece add an estate sale and didn’t have a lot of information about it. The inside of the drawers are still natural and the drop-down secretary portion with all the little compartments are still natural stained wood, probably walnut or cherry. Because she’s a locale tail shop and not an antique dealer, she has to keep her retail prices reasonable in order to stay open. So she decided to paint the piece rather than try to restore the wood. It would have required a big investment to restore it to its original state and then to have to turn around and sell it would be cost prohibitive for many of her clientele. I don’t really mind that it’s painted because it matches my decor nicely. I keep notebooks, journals, Tn’s and ring binders on the shelves behind the glass doors. And like you, I’ve stored all other planner supplies in the cubbies and drawers. I absolutely love it! I wanted a secretary desk/cabinet since I was a little girl and always said that someday I would get one. This summer I walked into my local home decor and accessories shop and low and behold there it was. I had no idea what the style was called and because of your video I now know and have googled some info about it!
That desk is beautiful! We have my late mother-in-law's secretarty that I use and I love it. I need to do a bit more organizing of it but I was blown away by those cool compartments on either side of that middle section. So cool! I would love to see your ink swatch video. That is something I am starting to show an interest in.
What a beautiful desk! I purchased a modern one with an added cabinet on top. It's nice but mine was made for a computer so it doesn't have all the fun storage/drawers. I would love a vintage one.
I have that same exact desk!! It was my Great grandmother’s. Years ago I stashed some cash in one of the secret cubbies. Imagine my delight when I discovered it just recently!! 🤑
This desk is absolutely magical!! And the secret cubbyholes (not sure about the spelling on that word 😀) stole my heart!! Thank you so much for the tour 😀😀😀
So far so good! Been a month now on the triplex and just ordered the shake and the metaburn! My biggest set back though is needing consistent exercise! Anxiety has debilitated me over the years...the journalling and books i have been reading is helping tremendously! This is why i get so excited over it because its a hobby and a craft as well!
