Yeah that is south Lawrence. Net time you pass threw head over to Lowell they got some good info about the mills. Most of these were Turbine powered. Lawrence did all wool production while lowell did cotton. Unfortunately Lawrence filled in alot of its canals
Cool buildings, the building at the beginning if the video I bet some are more like 10 stories eyemagine there are 2 basements the main basement and a sub basement heck they could even go deeper than that, at least some of the buildings are being used and then not abandoned like most are.
Monarch building was the old prince spaghetti co and across the street where new balance is now was converse or vice versa. This my town I call home. The immigrant city is our official nick name. Monarch building used to be the largest building in the USA at one point. It’s as long as the Empire State Building is high. And the clock tower is the largest clock second to Big Ben himself. I love my city. It isn’t given the right light now in days.
There's a reason the US was such a great country ! People had job, and better purchasing power than even today, and that was without foreign slave labor making products !
Lawrence ma is full of history that impact today. Give me bread and roses
Cool, my old town until the early 70s. Looks much like it did then. Worked in some old mills. :) good sub shops and pizza.
Amazing . I grew up there
This is the city right next door to me - I'm in Methuen. I was at work when you passed through, though!
I live in california now but used to live in Methuen. Couldnt take the winters thouugh
Oakland Ave. many years back. Went to the old Methuen junior high. 1966?
On multiple levels! Think how many thousands of souls worked there!
Lawrence, for sure👍
those buildings would be perfect for storing vehicles and parts.
