I loved "Good Times". And I had the biggest crush on Ralph Carter. But I noticed his character name on Good Times was Michael Evans just like Lionel Jefferson's real life name was Mike Evans from "The Jeffersons". Then I found out later that Ralph Carter was portraying the life of Mike Evans. Interesting.
JJ was "overly ghetto", and Norman Lear allowed it to to "flouish". The main reason for that character to achieve such fame was it fed into the non-black's misconception of him being the stereotypical poor black person, when in reality, Michael was .
I didn't like the clown stuff, either, but I respected Jimmy after watching his interviews. He was really smart, well-spoken and didn't let anybody disrespect him. I also loved his 80's sitcom.

Michael Evans he kept it real on the TV show. He was very funny and so many ways. I know he been through drama and a lot of situations but he’s a positive black man don’t worry about the negative feedback from the public. They just jealous.

I LIVE IN A BUILDING IN BK WHERE HIS COUSIN LIVED DOWN THE HALL FROM ME HE CAME TO SEE HIS COUSIN A FEW TIMES BUT THE WHOLE FAMILY STAYED TO THEY SELF MOSTLY
