    Just watched your tutorial on these towels. I love your step by step attention to details and tips with the explanation of why you do it this way. Your attention to detail is very educational for a newbie who really needs help following the embroidery jargon & using a embroidery machine. Thank you

    This has been by far THE BEST instructional video I have watched on UA-cam, from the beginning to the end. You were easy to understand, your explanation of procedure, tips and valuable ‘why’ information was on point. I look forward to watching more on machine embroidery. I am a beginner.

    Beautiful easy to follow video. Thank you. I have a question. I have never seen heatnbond applied to the fabric and then doubled over. I’ve seen heatnbond applied to the fabric and then ironed on to the towel. Is this a technique that you do and why? It’s interesting.

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  Рік тому

      Thank you. I doubled it over so that the color of the fabric would "pop" because the fabric was really thin and the towel would show through and make the design look "cheap". It's not necessary. If the fabric was a little thicker (higher thread count) I would not have doubled the fabric. The heat n bond is just to keep the fabric from frying overtime with washing. I would use the heat n bond even if the fabric was not doubled.

I adjusted the tension to as far as it would loosen but still showed and had to change the bobbin to the same colour I was using which slowed down the process. How heavy is the tear away stabilizer that you used on the back of the towel? Does the tear away stabilizer come in light, medium and heavy weight? Do you have a particular brand that you prefer?

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  2 роки тому

      Thank you for watching! Yes, the tear away does come in different weights. I like a medium weight (1.5 or 2.0 oz weight) which is fairly sturdy, but still easy to actually tear away. I lime Allstitch, but they have been out lately so I order from Amazon or Madeira.

      Yes, my day job has had me busy and my son is reminding now that when I make things... I need to record. I actually stopped halfway through this video and went to bed (when I said I needed to take a break). But yes, I always use white bobbin thread for the embroidery unless it is "free standing" lace because with that type of project, you would see the bobbin thread. As long as your tension is right in the embroidery machine, your bobbin thread will not show on top. I do match the thread from the bobbin in the sewing machine to match the top thread.
      With the hood, yes it is folded and the whole hood is actually doubled and the towel part is single. I do it this way so that the embroidery does irritate the child's head in the event that they have thin hair or are very sensitive. I hope I am understanding your question.

      @@SouthernAudacity Thanks for responding, I got it now. I as well are watching this on the second day, lol. And when I clean up my space I can't find anything. Maybe you could have embroidery a flower on that spot.

    Couldn’t you just wash it to see if the spot comes out?

      The store I purchased the afro unicorn design was www.etsy.com/shop/TulleLand However, it appears that they are not currently selling on Etsy.
      The Dinosaur design is from DesignsbyJuju.com
