    Newbie question: If you left the water soluble fabric on it, would it help the heat and bind adhere better? Or does it not work well with the heat and bi d. LOVED this tutorial! I inherited my sister’s embroidery machine so I am trying to learn from the ground
    up!

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! To be honest, I have always washed the water soluble out or at least gotten rid of the bulk of it. So I have no idea as to if it will alter the heat applied adhesive.

      I did a test and didn't notice a difference, however I was not working on felt I was using poly patch twill.

    What type of material do you use for patches? Beautiful unicorn

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  2 роки тому

      Thank you. It really depends on the look I am going for. Felt is a common material and that is what I used in this video in combination with regular cotton. To make the foundation supportive, I like to use twill underneath.

    I have a friend who wants me to make one and put on a knit hat, wonder if it would stay on ok with heat n bond

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  3 роки тому

      It may stay for a few washes with heat in bond ultra... but I always tell people to stitch a few points along the edges with a hand needle just to ensure it doesn't come off. I actually tell people this even with using patch grade adhesive, because I never know how hot people was things in.

    Hi I’m new to embroidery, how did you get your placement stitch, was it a program you used?

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  2 роки тому

      Hi! No, actually the digitizer should add a placement stitch. However, when on rare occasions I need one, and there isn't one, I duplicate the first outline using the program Sew What Pro or Essentials by Embrilliance and move it to the first color.

  • @lindadexter2908
    @lindadexter2908 3 роки тому +1

    how did you separate the body part so you could just use the head ??

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  3 роки тому +1

      With this design...the digitizer has is already separated into different parts, so I just used the head part.

    Looks great! How would you price this when selling?

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  3 роки тому +1

      I really don't price like traditional sellers do based on stitches and such. I always check to see what patches similar to it are selling for in my area and online like Etsy. This one I priced at $12 because of the size and colors. But you can always set at a higher price and gradually lower it to see what it will sell for in your venue.

      Wow that seems undervalued for great work. But again market price controls a lot of pricing too sadly

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  3 роки тому

      DEFINITELY!! But I have found that if you sell at craft fairs (not flea markets) you can get better prices because people are shopping for quality/unique items.

    Do you have a link of where you got your craft fabric from

    • @SouthernAudacity
      @SouthernAudacity  3 роки тому

      Hi! No I don't have a specific link. I usually shop local at Joann's, Walmart (all of the fabric/felt here is from Walmart) or anyplace that sells craft and sewing supplies. The only online place I shop for fabric is Fabric. com. Thank you for watching!
