I wouldn't be suprised that one of the very few people that could feasibly beat Hale in a fair fight would be Soldier. Making soldier into comic relief and then revealing that he is also capable of beating one of the strongest aussies out there is just perfection.

Sure, Saxton Hale is cannonically the strongest man alive... but let's all take a moment to observed that the Soldier does more damage using the blunt edge of the sword since he swings a backhand with crits
The old unofficial mode had a good mechanic, where Saxton's rage would just straight up stun everyone in an area as a ghost on Halloween maps does. However, I can also see Hales making one crucial mistake and it's trying to tank all the damage. The key is to make the defenders think you are advancing and make them lose resources, while actually retreating and then come back for the key targets, such as medics, engies and busted combo-players like the soldier in the clip.
the fear rage was a terrible mechanic, lol it just gave hale free kills on the 3-4 unluckiest players nearby. you could never pull off these kinds of plays on old hale unless he decided to be nice and not use his rage.
@@the_Red_Star I disagree. Actually skilled players were able to kite the rage for long enough or hold Hale down with either Heavy's rage, timely Uber or just play close to the ledge to run away. Of course he would stomp a few weaker players down, but it also gave him a chance to deal with more or less the only player that mattered, like this soldier, or a cheeky engine, abusing a high cornered location with a sentry and a wrangler, that he's not supposed to be in in the first place.
@@gbyjrjn The slam instantly destroys sentries and other buildings in a large radius and the charged punch lets Hale go the skybox. The brave jump doesn't have a cooldown anymore so Hale shouldn't really be going into enclosed spaces until he's already killed everyone in the open areas. Basically, Rage was replaced with the slam ability which is arguably better against sentries, and said sentries now do very low amounts of damage Then when it comes to dealing with this Soldier, all you need to do as Hale is just brave jump into the skybox until his buff runs out and your fist starts glowing, then you can land on his head and either goomba stomp him or insta-kill with 1 punch
From my experience, fighting saxton in melee is usually a good idea. Even if you die - you will contribute massive amount of value with knockback keeping him in place for other people to shoot at. Not to mention buttload of damage. My class of choice is buttburner pyro. If he fights me - i knock him back and do massive damage with melee. If he doesnt fights me - i burn his butt for massive damage.

I remember doing this with a bunch of soldiers with Concherors, Buff Banners and Battalions Backup. Hale couldnt kill anyone of us because every melee just fully heals and overheals any melee that the nearby soldier was doing.

The soldier never acquired Ubercharge, but the Vs Saxton Hale mode changes all "on kill" effects to trigger on hit, making the Half-Zatoichi give soldier half his HP back every time he hits Saxton Hale. In other words, as long as he can land his hits, the soldier is effectively immortal.
try medic melee, just stock melee or reskin, the speed of medic lets you juggle them without getting hit by strafing back and going forward to hit, ive gotten like 6k damage with medic melee
@ManaCloak Ubersaw gives you 50% Uber on this mode, so you only need 2. He's talking specifically about juggling Hale forever by crit knock backs, which wouldn't work with the Ubersaw due to it's 20% slower firing speed.
@@spookyscarylamppost3431 You're correct, I have tried the Ubersaw + Quickfix to heal back all hits done to me, but the swing speed makes it impossible to juggle and get the good damage I had before. (Best maps for this are nucleus and skirmish at the spots where there's a roof and a wall, maybe even a corner to make it way easier to juggle.) Though I have not tried the amputator due to the less damage (152 crit damage) but it heals way faster to be able to survive multiple hits.

I've been telling people in my Hale games that this is busted and lo and behold I find this video, haha. The moment I found out about the Zatoichi's health on hit thing I knew immediately what I had to do.
Conniver's Kunai should also activate on hit, supposedly.
@@Aereto that's not an on-kill effect, it's on kill+backstab, same as most knives except the big earner. Not sure if the big earner follows the consistent rule here though (on kill = on hit for speedboost)
@@OmegaRC59 Big Earner activates as long as you kill a person, no need for backstabs, actually is very addicting to go gunspy with it since you can keep popping shots and then end the combo with a facestab for another speedboost
Theoretically this could be possible in canon, since Soldier did eat those Kill-Me-Come-Back-Stronger pills.
Given how many times he keeps dying he could well surpass Heavy and Hale one day.

knowing that this was a common tactic in freak fortress community servers, these hales havent learned to run away fron this trap
I remember doing this with a bunch of soldiers with Concherors, Buff Banners and Battalions Backup. Hale couldnt kill anyone of us because every melee just fully heals and overheals any melee that the nearby soldier was doing.

The soldier never acquired Ubercharge, but the Vs Saxton Hale mode changes all "on kill" effects to trigger on hit, making the Half-Zatoichi give soldier half his HP back every time he hits Saxton Hale.
In other words, as long as he can land his hits, the soldier is effectively immortal.

try medic melee, just stock melee or reskin, the speed of medic lets you juggle them without getting hit by strafing back and going forward to hit, ive gotten like 6k damage with medic melee

Ubersaw gives you 50% Uber on this mode, so you only need 2. He's talking specifically about juggling Hale forever by crit knock backs, which wouldn't work with the Ubersaw due to it's 20% slower firing speed.
@@spookyscarylamppost3431 You're correct, I have tried the Ubersaw + Quickfix to heal back all hits done to me, but the swing speed makes it impossible to juggle and get the good damage I had before. (Best maps for this are nucleus and skirmish at the spots where there's a roof and a wall, maybe even a corner to make it way easier to juggle.) Though I have not tried the amputator due to the less damage (152 crit damage) but it heals way faster to be able to survive multiple hits.
