I know I HAD to make a Governor video using this song. It just fits him so perfectly. Constantly trying to battle the darkness inside him. I really loved how they developed The Governor so much more as a character in the show than in the comic. Sometimes I even cared for him! David Morrissey did a phenomenal job at portraying the most evil character in TV history. R.I.P Governor.

The Governor is simply a more tragic version of Rick Grimes. Rick, much like God in the Bible, killed far more and effortlessly than Satan did, or in this case, The Governor.

i never thought of the governor as a monster i always actually felt a bit sorry for the guy he's not a monster he's a normal man who was forced to adapt to the new world and he had to trade adaption for his sanity, its like saying rick is a monster now, he's not a monster he's just been changed by the world unlike the governor rick just took longer to change. its one of the reason's the governor is one of my characters he's easy to hate by just watching from other's perspectives but once you actually sit down and think about you just kinda feel sorry for him, he lost his daughter for god sake, we all saw what happened when Carl was nearly assaulted in season 4, rick bit the guy's throat out for his boy, the governor probably would have done the same if you ask me
Yes he was once one of the good guys he was as reluctant as Glenn and as moral as Hershel but his kind ways got his daughter killed and that changed Philips mindset it destroyed him.
Guys, he was just trying to protect his small city and its people. After that Michonne showed up and acted like Governor had done something wrong to her, then he went to his appartment, killed his daughter and put his eye out! I mean, common. He lost everything. What would you expect him to do? I really like and understand him.
Jones Andruart lol, only the main character can find a big well-protected prison full of ammo and food. If this thing happened you would have to kill everyone, especially if you want to protect your city and its citizens. Soldiers were well armed people. Do you really think they were that innocent? I doubt that. That's what the world would involve into : you kill or you die... or you die and you kill.
I disagree. The ZA doesn't justify people like him, Shane, Joe, Gareth, and their followers to abandon moral authority. Nobody needs to be like them or have them to survive. All these people have either murdered, pillaged, canibalize. steal, and rape for their own desires. All their deaths were great!
Well I'm not saying the Governor was ever a saint, he did kill those soldiers for ammo and supplies but at least you are seeing the poetry of his story arc. Michonne killing Penny (which I believe was not her place to do in the first place. Michonne was frankly bitter about Andrea, her only friend she had since this all went done, choosing a life at Woodbury over her. Michonne felt betrayed which only fueled her suspicion and dislike for the Governor.)
All of these characters have made mistakes, some of which have cost them the lives of their people/loved ones but the Governor had depth as a character, a lot more than his comic book counterpart. He wasn't pure black, he was gray like all the characters in the show, but it was a darker gray than most and make no mistake, that gray became darker and darker starting with the "death" of Penny, attack on Woodbury, and loss of his eye. Classic descent into madness. Made his attempt at a new life in season 4 with his new "family" all the more interesting and genuine. Fascinating character study!
Yea I mean all he did was beat Michonne almost to death then rape her.... kill her friends, cut ricks hand off.... The he killed his whole town ya know the one he just wanted to protect.... then when Rick tried for peace he continued anyway..... I totally understand him ya know?
Carl Grimes I haven't seen this one in the series, okay? These two Governors are different. Also, I don't give a shit about Rick, neither he does, you know. Put yourself into his place and say how much you care about Rick, lol :D

I really don't understand while people hate the Governor so much . Yes he did some pretty evil moves , like killing Hershel ...
But i still pity him somehow , Morrissey gives to the Governor a tormented humane side which i like very much .

I'd say that the most evil move he did was killing his own people after the Season 3 finale attack on the Prison , YET , even after everything he did for them , they failed him by running away from the Prison while they obviously outnumbered them , had superior firepower etc ... So , it's not legit , but remains understandable .
For the rest yes , at first he didn't cared at all about the Prison and Rick and his band , but Michonne HAD to screw everything up by killing Penny , mutilating him , then go to the Prison . And instead of coming to negociate the release of Glenn and Maggie , Rick came gun blazing and shot 16 citizens of Woodbury . How was the Governor supposed to take that ? " No problem , let's just be friends and live peacefully together " ? NOPE .
Khalee Hill I know, I like the Governor. Michonne was stupid to do that, he didn't even do anything to her in the tv show. She didn't have to kill Penny. But I think she just did that because she didn't like him or maybe because she was a zombie. If you think about it the Governor was just doing what he thought had to be done. I like the villains more in the walking dead just to see what they do and how crazy they make the show, I get sad when they die because they are so interesting, but sadly the villains almost always end up being killed ); RIP
MikesMyThrillerGuy Exactly ! The Governor isn't so different from Rick in the show , he does what needs to be done , he just makes the more radical choices . A whole small city depends on whether he succeeds or not , so he doesn't gamble with their lives . In the show Michonne had NO valid reason to attack him . People claim he is twisted because he kept Penny locked in a cage , and what about Michonne then ? She carries her fiancé and his brother in chains , how is that bloody better ?
Yeah , villains shouldn't always die , they're the most interresting characters of most shows , movies , books ...

Loved the editing, especially the intro with the chess scene (one of my favorite scenes in all the series, the meaning behind it had a lot of depth), fitting song, best Governor video on youtube. For what it's worth, I think Brian Herriot had good intentions at the end, it wasn't about revenge or power. It was about fear, the fear of loss. Tragic, no winners there. He did lose his family and his own life while Rick and his group lost their "patriarch" and their home, everything they had built since the Governor fled. In the end, the king was captured and defeated. Storytelling! 👍

The Governor was awesome. He would've beaten Rick if Michonne hadn't stepped in. Think about it. He was so good he technically beat Rick even with a bullet in his arm.

fun fact: the governor is actually not who he says he is, Penny (his zombie "daughter) is actually his brothers daughter, his brother was killed and "the governor" went crazy, he named himself Phillip (his bro. name) and his actual name is Brian, so everything that he says about his past is a lie, btw got this all from the book make by the creator of the comics and show :D
That's a separate continuity from the show, on the show, Penny is his daughter and his real name is Philip. The show/comics/novels/video games are separate from each other. Kind of how Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher's Batman are not connected to Christopher Nolan's Batman and the next Batman played by Ben Affleck will not have anything to do with either Burton's or Nolan's.

Great characters....but this silly music sucks so bad.

For what it's worth, I think Brian Herriot had good intentions at the end, it wasn't about revenge or power. It was about fear, the fear of loss. Tragic, no winners there.
