Another great flick Travis. I love that you get out in the winter on your snowshoes. Great drone shot footage. Thanks for taking us along.

It's a different world out there in the winter! I'm a little sad the winter season is ending, but maybe we'll get one more good snow trip before it's all gone.

That was a good trip. Glad you had your buddy with you. That must of been one eye opening moment when you dropped into that water. That fire pit was huge. Timber looks great. Bet the beer and bourbon went down fine after this one. Take care, Al

Eye opening is one way to put it! We did have whiskey on stand by at the fire pit.😀

Great Adventure Travis and Jason. I did my a.m. cardio training watching this video. It was like I was hiking right along next to you guys. Except I wasn't cold, wet, and nearly frozen to death. That fire 🔥 hole was huge. Good thing Jason had you a rip roaring fire to dry off next to, other wise you would probably be missing a few fingers and or toes. My tip for winter hiking is always take a Tauntaun with you. "And you thought they smelled bad on the outside."

Falling through the ice is scary situation Travis. You were fortunate your friend could help you out and a fire was going. Speaking of fires, when I think of a fire pit that is not what comes to mind. Shivering just watching all that snow, especially since I just got back from a 3 day trip and the temps were in the mid-sixty's. A new drone addition - very nice. Great video Travis!

Maybe one day I'll get you out in the snow for a few days... Here we are walking 6 feet of snow and you're just cruising around the Smokies.😃 It was a bit of a scary moment going into the water. I think I could've got my self out, but I'm glad I had someone right there to help me.

I've never even seen snow like that. The fire pit was hilarious!! I'd love to experience a camping trip like that one.
Sorry you fell into the lake! That must have been scary!

That much snow surprised us! When I dug the fire pit initially, I never hit the ground so we just let the fire melt it down.

Nice video, Travis! Helluva snow pack this year, your area should have a strong spring run off. Get the growing season off to a good start.

Damn, I knew you guys got some good snow pack on the other side of 4th of July but that was pretty crazy to see. Glad you had a sufficient fire to dry off, I'd wager that plunge elevated your heart rate a bit! I'm looking forward to the Cabinets opening up, almost done replacing most of my gear. Looking forward to long days.

Sorry I missed this comment. UA-cam decided I needed to review this comment... not sure why. Backcountry skiing is something that we have been talking about adding. Both places that we winter camped in would've been some epic backcountry stuff.

Travis, thanks for this video. I loved it! It was posted today, March 31st, but what day did you hike up to the lake?
I hiked up to the lake in July of 2008 and there were pockets of deep snow even at that time of year. I would sure love to get back out to God's Country this summer. Last time I was in Idaho was 2009. That is way too long to be away!
