I just learned this year that my personal style is Light Academia! I love dark too, but prefer things light and bright. I used to call it "The naturalist's study." ☺️
I loved the view of you sitting on the floor in your PJs and robe. I often have my morning coffee and then work on my current craft project in my gown and robe. Thanks for being so down to earth.
White bird houses and the greenery are the perfect winter color combination. Oh and I knew you were going to grab that bird pillow before you even said it aloud. It's so you!! Thanks for sharing!
Sherry, I love that you wore your jammies and sweet robe while creating the picture layout on the floor. How honest and homey that was, and I'm sure most of us also do some great work in our jammies too!
I Eave out all my snowmen, trees that are glass - cobalt blue ones white ones, silver ones, and yes, the tine distresses ones, wooden snowflakes everywhere. And white snow covered houses. That is what is is all about, leaving out the things you really enjoy. It os neat, pretty, and a joy to my heart. Some may stay out all year as a reminder of the season I love. Decorate with what makes you happy.
I keep my Christmas decor as long as Christmas time goes and also on Epiphany, but on January 7 your ideas are more than welcome. Thank you! Have a beautifull 2023.
I started doing just that recently - I leave out my cute little birds dressed in winter clothing and several of my snowmen, esp. the ones that are resin but look like they were carved and painted.
You create such beautiful things, I love the nature look of your home. I love your wall of pictures, I wouldn’t paint or change anything on the wall of pictures. 👍
Yes definitely put the gold lamp base inside a basket. I think it is a nice contrast and will warm that metal lamp up. Paint the silver frames the same gold as the lamp.
Love the winter garland you made! In answer to your questions in my opinion: #1. As for me I would keep the lamp as it is. It's so unique what a great find! the base looks like a flower pot, no further embellishment needed. #2. I would keep the silver frames they go with the grey wall & have a snowy wintery feel. I like the brass lamp. I agree the lights need to be warmer. The base is beautiful as is. I would just change the bulbs. I love your decorating ideas. You would have a hay day at my house. I still have blank walls. Lol 😂 I like the frames black and silver as you have them. They look great!!!

Happy New Year Sherry 🎉 I have enjoyed your channel over a year now and look forward to seeing you and your creativity. Your video today is what I love to see the most❤
Nice ideas. I like the mixture of the silver and black frames so I vote to keep them that color. I always have a but if red in my decor. Red is not just for Christmas at my house.
Oh my goodness I’m in love with that round picture 😍 it’s gorgeous! I do think the gold flower lamp would look better in a wicker basket, it will tone it down. I re-did my bedroom last year to an English cottage. However…I too love the dark academia and even have one of the pics you showed as well as my inspiration. Some is way to dark. When I repainted my old desk I used a very dark green with gold knobs, it’s academia looking. You need to go see if that leather chair is still there lol! Great job and Happy New Year’s!!
Thank you, Sharen! I bought that round picture for less than $5 at the Habitat ReStore. I am starting a major redo of my kitchen/library area in a dark academia style. I hope you’ll like it. Some viewers may think I’m crazy!
Working on the transition as well. I love tartan and used alot of it my Christmas decor. I decided to keep many touches of it for a cozy, winter look! I decorate English Country and love the Dark Academia touches. Your home looks ready for a cozy winter evening!
Thank you, Melanie! I am really going to lean into the dark academia look in my kitchen/library area. Big changes coming soon. I hope you’ll like it; I think some viewers will think I’m crazy.
Oh what perfect timing to see this!! That's what I'm going to be working on this week, taking down all the Christmas decorations and redecorating for winter!! You have given me some really good ideas and I can't wait to get started!! Thank you for always having such excellent videos!! So inspiring!!
Great video! Would put flower lamp in basket, with sheet moss on top. Would tone down the silver picture frames (antiquing wax?)The pompoms would be nice in your garland too!
I’ll be taking down Christmas decor this week as well. Most of my Christmas decor is snow themed and that’s how I decorate for the winter months. I do love how you decorate with so many natural elements and I am going to incorporate these into my home this winter season. I love the pompom wreath so much too.
I loved how you kept out some of your Christmas decorations to use for Winter decor Sherry. Makes so much sense! And the little fireplace garland was so pretty. So was the pom pom wreath. Once again your home looks cozy and lovely.
I love red accents ... well, mostly blue/red hues ... all year long. Red works with so many holidays and other occasions, in tiny pops. To each his own, I say. Love your reds.
I full on embrace how clean and uncluttered the house looks. I use this time to declutter Christmas items and home decor. I even started decluttering by artwork... visually my home looks larger and lighter.
We take down our tree after “The Epiphany “ so I still have some time to dig into my “hoard” to decorate in more neutral colours. Your ideas are golden! Happy, healthy, joyful New Year to you and your family, Sherry and to all the wonderful family of Canterbury Cottage!
Sherry, this is exactly what I needed! While I’m not ready to put away Christmas for another week or so, I can look forward to incorporating some of these lovely ideas. You’ve gotten me thinking about pulling more natural materials into my decor too! I also admire your use of old prints and frames. It’s interesting how after awhile, I don’t even SEE my decor anymore.
Thank you, Donna! I know what you mean about not seeing your decor anymore. I guess it is just human nature to become “immune” to what we see every day. I know when I add something new, I catch myself admiring it several times a day, but eventually that wears off.

Thank you for teaching me how to make pom poms. Your directions were detailed and the finished products look terrific. You asked about putting your new lamp into a basket. I think it will soften the area and add texture. I look forward to the new year within the Canterbury Cottage community.
Thank you so much, Sue! The directions that come with the pom pom makers are not very helpful, so I wanted to make sure you knew how to use them if you decided to order some.

Noooo!! Those silver frames are great. No painting!!! I love everything you have done. Thinking of my things I have and making notes as I watched. Thanks again for another great video. Happy 2023.
Hi Sherry! Happy New Year to you and your husband! As always, I love your ideas. The round print on the mantle is so pretty. That pom pom wreath is adorable! I would definitely put the flower lamp in a basket. I would leave those frames silver. I need to get more greenery. It does add life to decor. Thank you for another inspiring video!

I forgot to say I love Country Cottage as I live in a small cottage style house in the UK! I have a cottage style garden, and I use a lot of my greenery from my garden all year round! Just took down my holly wreath to recycle, but I keep the willow base to use again, during the year!
I lovecall of your ideas. My husband hates when I take down Christmas, but I look at it as a way to use all of my thrifted stuff from estates sales differently this year. Your house is lovely.
I love the arrangement of black and white prints. I am a fan of not having all matching frames grouped together, so I do like the black and silver. I wonder though, how the silver frames would look with a bit of the golden rub n buff, next to those black frames.
You are just adorable! If you made two videos a day, I would watch them. Your talent is never-ending. Your creativity amazes me each time I view one of your videos. I would not paint the picture frames- the wall looks lovely ❤
Thank you, Sherry for so much inspiration during this dark, cold time of year! I love your gold flower lamp and love the idea of a brown wicker basket to look like soil or a flower pot. You could even add some greenery to look like leaves for the flowers! And I love the silver frames on your grey wall. It’s a vignette of cool colors and is gorgeous! Happy New Year! Xox, Bonnie
I love your videos and your decorating and craft ideas. You’re a woman after my own heart. I’ve never had a surface that couldn’t fit one more nicely done decorated element. However, I live in Northern Minnesota. The snow is deep and it’s covering the trees and branches and has been for weeks. It is a winter wonderland and sometimes I feel more Christmasy now than at Christmas when I’m more rushed. So the Christmas decorations and lights, along with instrumental music, are going to continue for almost another month, and I ‘m going to plug away at some Christmas crafts, so I’m ready for next year 😆. Likely I’ll even rewatch some of your Christmas crafting videos. Happy New Year!!
I so love your videos and I love your cottage decor, I personally am French country but your videos inspire me to do something similar in my style, thank you so much for sharing 🧡🧡🧡

@@CanterburyCottage same here. I have a tendency to overkill. I try to keep it tasteful and I always get compliments, but I still think I overdue, but I was referring to the plaid thermoses. Thank you so much, Kathy! I don’t see brass reindeer very often, but this is the time of year when you might get lucky. 🤞 Lots of people donate Christmas decor, so they don’t have to pack it away.
Sherry this video is right on time. I will be decorating for winter for the first time in my life and these ideas are just what I needed! I hope you post more winter decor videos, I just simply love your inspiration. Many thanks, and blessings.
I love the Pom Pom wreath. As I’m getting older (I’m in my 50’s) I have noticed that I can not just sit and watch tv; I have to be doing something else while watching tv. I’m going to order the Pom Pom maker. That will definitely keep my hands busy. Thank you for your inspirations.
I like your ideas to refresh after the Holidays! That way you can keep out some of your favorite decorations. You are always an inspiration. I like the lamp just the way it is, what a wonderful find. The picture frames look good silver, but I think they would look really great gold too. Thanks for all your wonderful ideas!!

Flame lights would be cool,in your tulip lamp. Your wallpaper and gallery wall are primo!
I was just doing the same yesterday. I love all your subtle changes. So comfy and inviting! The coffee bar vignette turned out so perfect. Sometimes less is more! ✌🏼❣️🙋🏻♀️ peace•love•bren
Thank you, Bren! I know you’re right, but I almost always think that more is more! 😜
@@CanterburyCottage same here. I have a tendency to overkill. I try to keep it tasteful and I always get compliments, but I still think I overdue, but I was referring to the plaid thermoses. I like just the one green one with the florals. It looked very sweet there. I also have several of those book boxes that look like real books that are great for catchalls like you said you use that one box for your K cups. It looked very nice and neat but handy.
@@CanterburyCottage Us artistic crafty frugal decorators like to make our spaces pretty. We also have to remember that it needs to be lived in and practical!😆
Love this! Thank you.
You can easily make pom poms using books. Wrap the yarn around them and then cut. Maybe even tp tubes would work.
Once again I LOVED your video. I am currently refreshing my Christmas decor to winter decor. I have been thrifting for brass reindeers for months. I haven’t found any as of yet but I will keep searching in hopes I will have find some for next winter.
I especially like the textured afghan and the pom pom wreath you made.
Thank you again! You are my favorite UA-camr!
In the meantime you could paint some deer brass color and tuck greenery around them.
Thank you so much, Jacqueline! Have fun decorating!
Thank you, Debbie! I really appreciate the feedback. I am crushing on my new lamp. I have never seen anything like it.
OH MY STARS DID YOU INSPIRE ME TO LOOK AT MY HOME WITH A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE!! YOUR SPACE IS JUST GORGEOUS ❣️
I started to take down Xmas decor today and wasn't looking forward to putting my old decor back out. Now with so many of your great ideas i am looking forward to refreshing and changing some what I have
Thank you
Yes! Basket would be nice for the lamp
I love the simple & big impact made with the switch out. I would paint the silver frames. Thank you for your continued lessons!
Sherry, you are such an inspiration to me! I love watching your videos and have gotten so many good ideas from them. I no longer look at items for just what they are but what they can be. Thank you for all your hard work 💜
Thank you so much for those kind words, Dawn! 😊
Inspiration accomplished! Love all these ideas!
The bird on the word frame is adorable. I love to watch you create as you have such unique ideas. If the silver frames of winter prints were mine I’d paint them black. I love your curated home. It’s so interesting, unique and beautiful. I have the same pompom maker and love it.
lovely idea to transition seasons - thanks again for a wonderful year of inspiration!
Enjoyed the video and have cleaned and changed up for winter cozy. Yes, A basket for table lamp will warm up the display.
I have a heart shaped wreath from DT that I wrapped firstwith strips of quilt batting, then covered it with 75 pom poms of varrious sizes. I love it so much and enjoyed making the pom poms. I also covered one with roses made from felted sweaters.
Love the flower lamp!
Thank you! 😊
No wicker basket for the lamp, and I like the silver picture frames. Beautiful home!
your pom pom wreath came out beautiful!
Looks so pretty. I like the silver frames with the black frames on the winter pictures.
