Thank you for instructions to find Mile Marker 0. Without it we would have wandered around like so many others seem to do on their videos. We went right to it because of your help. A BIG THANK YOU
Go to attempt the C&O next spring on foot under 65 hours. These videos are invaluable to help plan. The portion on how to get to marker zero is gold. Thanks 😀👍🏃♂️🏃♂️
Crossing under Key Bridge is an immediate transformation from the beauty of nature to a vibrant modern city, complete with weed smoke and people sleeping on the ground ❤ That’s the part where I resist the urge to turn around and keep biking
I did it. Last Friday, on 9/27/2019 I started in Cumberland all the way up to Lincoln Memorial. Overnight stops were as Sara recommends: Hancock and Harpers Ferry. The experience is great, beautiful views and actually is not very hard. Flat terrain with very decent surface, except for some spots. Thank you Sara for the nice video, comments and recommendations. I followed most of them. Last year I did from Cumberland to Pittsburgh and back. So now I know both the GAP and C&O. The two trails are beautiful; great scenery and in very good shape. It seems that GAP receives better maintenance and views are spectacular. Next year I will do from Pittsburgh to Washington.
I’ll try again next year. Didn’t find the cool start in Pittsburgh or this in DC. I’m rolling Cleveland to DC this spring so hopefully I’ll find these. Great vids BTW. Thanks
I'll be spending six months, cycling through the US, in a couple of years time. Two of those weeks, I'll be dedicating to the GAP and C&O (a week each) - probably setting myself a target of 40-50 km a day. Looking forward to it!
Sara, my brother and I used to canoe from Harper's Ferry to Georgetown. I also used to jog the foot path in Georgetown driving in from McLean where we were raised. Thanks for letting me come home for the first time in nearly 20 years without having to travel there. Although if I do I will definitely consider taking at least a portion of the bike ride. My only criticism is you never really cut loose a full smile. Do it, child.
Check out GAPTrail.org and the C&O Park Service website nps.gov/choh. They will be able to connect you to resources about camping. I also strongly recommend you order the TrailGuide at GAPtrail.- it has an entire section about camping all along the trail plus mapping.
Thank for watching! I don't have a list but here is a link to the route page. Hopefully that will help:). www.railstotrails.org/greatamericanrailtrail/route/
I'm curious... when did you film 3 clips along the C&O? Were they actually in one consecutive 3 day stretch? The weather seemed to be outstanding and that's one of my concerns. We're scheduling the full C&O trip in October for 3 days and I'm wondering if there's any advanced planning that you do for historically better weather weekends
All of the videos were filmed on consecutive days, yes. October is often cooler with many nice riding days. You can of course encounter bad weather at any time.
What a cool person; making a living doing what she loves and helping other people enjoy the same.

Glad you enjoyed the trail! The GAP is gorgeous as well:)
Love your series, thank you for showing this.

Thank you for this series! I'm hoping to ride Pittsburgh to Washington next year. This makes me believe I can do it!
That's great to hear, thanks so much! It's very doable - we always tell riders to be very conservative with their mileages, particularly on the C&O.
Loved the video! Beautiful place to ride! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you very much for the informational videos! Headed that way this coming spring.

I agree, Sara is beautiful and kind. I would like to see a full smile in that beautiful face.
Loved all of your videos... thanks so much! How do I find a map of all the camping areas along the GAP AND C & O TOW PATH?

Nice video
QUESTION - Can you walk your bike over to Harpers Ferry and lock up at a restaurant vs. leaving trailside?
You can, it's just easier to negotiate the spiral stairs and walkways without the bikes.
Hi, enjoy your videos, do you have a full list of all the trail in order, going west to east, or east to west. On the Discover America trail. Thanks
Thank for watching! I don't have a list but here is a link to the route page. Hopefully that will help:). www.railstotrails.org/greatamericanrailtrail/route/
Not sure I really care about completing that last half mile or so in Georgetown. Looks like a pain.
