    Y'ALL. I recorded in the wrong format, so the video quality is pretty abysmal. To make up for this, we're trying this new style with the frame. Let us know what you think!

    Thank you for this. I actually ran into your website before this video, but it did get my brain jogging on building my necro character.
    Good job.

    oh wow underappreciated channel! liked and subbed!
    also fun little concept I have been churning around in my head... blight druid, outcast from their home, starts off with a personal dream of wanting to be able to transform into a will-o-wisp as a path to becoming a functional lich and be one with nature (subject to evolving with character arch)
    i'm considering maybe its preferred undead are the 'living' undead, maybe it can shapeshift into them (DM discretion in the long term) and like how druids dislike metal and forged items, it would dislike animated undead and see the undead who haven't been raised from corpses / are intelligent undead / 'living' undead as a more natural expression
    still mulling it over

      That's an interesting angle that I haven't encountered before! The character almost sounds like an undead snob, haha. They only like educated undead who come from well-off families. :P

    This was SO GOOD, thank you for making this super informative and inspiring video! I thought there weren't many options for a necromancer build but you totally blew my mind here, suddenly I can't choose what type of necromancer to build! Awesome content, I love your channel!!

    Ahh theory of a chaotic good necromancy for my character: John “The Whistler” Takrov came from Dr. Von Ricten. Ad&d 2e. A mage who lost his wife to a vampire vowed and studied necromancy and Neather world knowledge through being a mortician for a local city. Through the study of magic and conducting analysis through dissection of dead body’s . He’s vision is to help local law and hierarchy solving murders and riding the world of undead. And showing society that necromancy of gray and white can be used for the good of life and the living.

      That's an excellent concept for a benevolent necromancer! Show the world its benefits!

      That's very much like my character. I raise those who were murdered or otherwise mistreated and offer them the opportunity to avenge themselves. I also get information from them to help me help others they love who are still living. Kind of like The Ghost Wisperer and iZombie. I used those shows as well as books for inspiration. My backstory is inspired by House of Hollow, The Awakening and The Bone Witch, my spell flavoring came from Sabriel, Scythe, Croak, and Gideon the Ninth. So I was dead and I accidentally took the body of a small child who'd just died and I realized that I could control the dead through a traumatic event and have to learn through trail and error how to use my powers

    Awesome! How about a "freak" like a necro that doesn't/can't summon (no sentient creatures?) But goes more in the "body manipulation" like a bonemancer, blood mage mix, that transmutes the bones of the slain into weapon/Armour? As an extra flavor you could be cursed with an undead arm, that could be manipulated in some ways

    • @FlutesLoot
      @FlutesLoot  3 роки тому +1

      That's a great idea! I think you could flavor certain spells this way, like if you were a Death Cleric, you could flavor Spiritual Weapon to be summoning bones, or Raise Dead is like puppeteering the bones and flesh.

      @@FlutesLoot thanks for the reply! Yeah it can go so many ways, I'm a noob when it comes to DnD, just thought a diablo necro would be interesting to "translate" into the ruleset :) and "of Blood and Bone" might be a cool title for a dark caster :)

    Currently running a helpful necromancer who sees the dead as friends you haven't met yet and is basically Elle from legally blonde... raises dead to aid her into eventually becoming a metallic tiamat (if the dm campaigns beyond 15th level).

      @FlutesLoot  3 роки тому

      Hi Mayhan! In this context, is a non-hero campaign based on being evil characters, or is it about being mundane, everyday people?

    I feel like wizard necro is the only way to go, and coming from the dread necromancer in 3.5 that makes me kind of sad

    • @FlutesLoot
      @FlutesLoot  3 роки тому

      It is a shame that D&D RAW doesn't focus on building classes/subclasses specifically for archetypes like the necromancer (ignoring the Wizard Necromancer). But you're not without options, and I think it'd be fun to transcribe the Dread into 5e rules (which I'm sure has been done by many clever players)!
