      Let me start by saying this is just opinion based on 2nd hand evidence. I could be wrong on this one but I think Chris would have been more honest here. Arguments hold water and Naz and certainly his coach , seemed dishonest to me on this one. I want to make clear I have heard how good Ingle was for the sheffield community and such and am taking this into account.

    Eubank backed up his point with facts. It was clear to see Naz copied Eubank, the footage Naz in the crowd is golden.

      Eubank boxed in the winkabank gym, and saw a young Naz flipped the ropes and copied him (Naz being doing that since he was a kid in the gym, disingenuous by Eubank to say Naz at 15 took it off him…. A lot of the future British champs like Johnny Nelson, Harold Graham were there and witnessed Eubank copied him.

      @@Sweet-Science Did you not hear what Eubank just said that, he Eubank was flipping over the ropes in his amateur fights since 1983 when he was he Eubank was only 16 years old. This made Naz only 8 at the time! Do you think a 16 years old Eubank who was a amateur boxer at the time copied it from a 8 year old kid in Naz!?? Come on man get a grip and stop with your Naz obsession. You from Bradford maybe?

      Idc how someone jumps over the ropes.

    Had the pleasure of attending a dinner with Eubank. He was an exceptional fighter, a two weight world champion. He is also a raconteur, a teller of great stories. Whereas Hamed, a great boxer, has since served prison time, alienated himself in boxing circles, and is now a source of critique. I'd say Eubank won this battle.

      @azizttt 6 років тому +9

      @Jank Man An old Barrera? You sure about that - Barrera was only 28 and didn't retire for another 10 years. You're right Eubanks division was stacked during his period...Roy Jones Jr, James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, Gerald Mclellan, Steve Collins.....how many of them did he beat exactly? I dont think you know what you're actually talking about do you.

    • @azizttt
      @azizttt 6 років тому +2

      @Jank Man Fair enough mate. I did rate and like Eubank - he was a great boxer.
      But I just dont think the stick Naz gets is justified at all. People that knock him, just don't like him for non boxing reasons (if they are being honest with themselves).
      That was a time when British boxers didn't often (for whatever reason) cross the pond and make a dent on the US scene - which was the pinnacle at that time. However on the other hand, Nas was only a featherweight from Sheffield (at a time when the all the glamour was in the higher divisions), and headlined in Vegas and at MSG. Not to mention he was probably one of the highest earning boxers at that time worldwide and that is more remarkable considering her was only a featherweight.
      The truth is Naz was an awesome boxer. He had great speed, and immense power. People like to write him off because he lost to Barrera, but that is so ill informed.
      Firstly losing one fight to a hall of famer like Barrera is no shame at all! Secondly he didn't get smashed or knocked out...he just got beat - it happens. But the sad part is you could see his whole preparation for that fight was wrong, and I personally think he just fell out of love with boxing. Thats why he never made any real attempt to go for the rematch or even continue his career. He was far from washed out. The truth is he had probably more money than he could have ever imagined earning (probably more than many boxers even earn today), a family and just didnt have the hunger anymore.
      For me it was a real shame, because a rematch with Barerra where we would have been fully focused would have been great and a potential fight against an emerging Floyd Mayweather would have been brilliant just for the build up alone! Also retiring the way he did has just dampened his legacy unjustly.

Barrera and morales for me at least are two of my favourite fighters of all time. He exposed every weakness Naz had relentlessly and made him look foolish which I think is worse than being knocked out. With a knockout you could say the other fighter landed a lucky punch so let's set up the rematch.
      In this bout though there was absolutely no debate as to who was the better fighter at the end of the contest. Naz was overconfident and Barrera didn't underestimate his talent.
      Naz was unbelievably talented but his arrogance and inability to take constructive criticism or advice from his coach was his downfall. A fighter with unlimited potential who blew it. A sad sight to see. There is confidence and there's cockiness and Naz was the latter.
