I think its brilliant that each one has their own bin, so no fights over so and so eating the last fruit roll up or granola bar. Plus you can kinda keep tabs on which kids eating a bit more and may need more. I also like that there are hearty snacks like soup. Are their snack bins also for school or just for at home? This is such a great idea, i mean it teaches them to go easy on food b/c if they eat it all thats it for the week, and also gives them choices but within your boundaries. Its teaching personal responsibility. Such a great idea!
I have been threatening my kids with this idea. They love to eat all their favorite snacks within the first couple days. I love this idea. I think if I do this I'll give them bins for the fridge too. TFS
I love this idea and will be doing it. We usually have just had a large fruit bowl, yogurt and veggie snacks that are unlimited but noiw that they are older and may want something sweet in a healthy way this is great! ~Candace
love love love this video I will definetly take this idea and use it....I struggle with the same thing...so I will get this and tweak it and let u know or possibly make a vid...thanks for sharing
You make the decision how many snacks go in each child's bin per week as well as how many refrigerated snacks per week! That's how I'm able to tell who ate what/how much per week!
This is genius! My kids are still little so need two snacks a day, so would need to put at least 14 snacks in, but still! My kids would eat me out a house and home if not monitored!
yay! glad i'm not the only one who does snack bins :) we've been doing snack bins for about 5 years now and it is the best thing we've ever done. before, some of us wouldn't get certain goodies because they would be gone before we had a chance. now, everyone gets equal amount of the specialties and they can ration on their own :)
I was wondering does your kids classrooms still offer snack time?...my third grader does and then he wants a snack when he gets home trying to figure out a good game plan. He chooses two days out of each week for packed lunches...you didnt mention it but do you keep items for packed lunches separate?
Marcia thank you so much for this video. I have a 15 year old and a 10 year old and what seems to happen is the snacks get eaten before week end or even next day and it's not equal on who got more of what and someone who didn't get anything-_- and then the arguments begin and I end up hiding snacks but I hide them to the point where I forget em lol. I also had to put hubby's snacks in his man cave so he can get his little snacks too before the kids eat em. Do you find issues with the kids not staying within their individual bins like if they run out of a fav...but little bro has one so they just end up going into other bins..Or do they pretty much stick to their bins and once it's gone it's gone. Do you put the extra goodies in a special spot so only you can have access to it? I am definitely trying this starting this weekend. Would love to see a video on your pantry set up or how you store your groceries:)
I wish my moms does this lol !! She buys a ton of snacks and by the next day they’re all eaten up😕 theres three boys and one girl (myself) and sometimes their friends. Snacks never last more than two days unless it’s something that we don’t like and will slowly eat away
Excellent idea! Wow! I wish I thought of this years ago when my boys were younger and acted like human vacuum cleaners when it came to snacks and food in general! Even so, they still raid the fridge and cabinets right along with my husband. I cringe when I hear one of them say "I've got the munchies" because that means the food & snacks go POOF! Anyway, great idea and I am going to try to do something like this this Friday after I do my weekly shopping. On another note, I've watched a few of your videos now and have just subscribed to your channel ... you have good common sense ideas and are fun to watch. Thanks a bunch for being straightforward and clear about everything you try to share with everyone! Cheers and I look forward to checking out more of your videos!
Just Janelle Hey! Yes they are for home. Also if the bins still have snacks in them i will still add extra because some weeks they tend to be hungrier than others just depending on their activity level. but if i notice the same snack sitting in the same kids bin for to long i will ask them if they want it if not I will remove it and see if anyone in the house wants it!
Ok thanks...I just have one child of mine..that I can see eating all their snacks at once..right before dinner and then hitting up the siblings snacks. :)

I used to do this when the kids were younger. I think that I will revisit this, now that the kids are older and can be more responsible with it.
great idea! I have four children and was lost at how to organize snacks! I will try this and do an update video. thanks for sharing!

I have been threatening my kids with this idea. They love to eat all their favorite snacks within the first couple days. I love this idea. I think if I do this I'll give them bins for the fridge too. TFS

I like this idea...but know, that some of my kids would eat way too many snacks. How do you monitor that?
You make the decision how many snacks go in each child's bin per week as well as how many refrigerated snacks per week! That's how I'm able to tell who ate what/how much per week!

What a cool mum
So if t their bins are moderately full or having items left, do you still refill them along with the rest.
very nice, ,have a great week
Luv ur channel!and I have a question do you care for your niece as much as your other kids?
How do you keep them from eating each others snacks?
They don't they know to just eat out of their bin. And that they can have extra fridge snacks if needed!
