Like the fact that Nintendo is working with Sony on a live action Zelda movie instead of Illumination who did Mario should be enough for people to take the hint that it ain’t happening. You can’t even compare it to Sony/Marvel sharing Spider-Man because there’s so many clear faults and limitations to that deal in of itself.

I think it’s more likely referencing the fact that the characters in both Detective Pikachu and the Sonic movies are designed and animated similarly, as well as the first Sonic movie and Detective Pikachu being considered by a lot of people to be the turning point of live action video game movie adaptations becoming good.
