+Static Announcement I lived there for 10 years, it's a really nice place but the people aren't the friendliest, might just be because most of the population consists of old people from the communist era. The young crowd is more chill.
Might be also the fact that many people in Prague are stressed out. I'm Czech and I've moved out of Prague exactly for that reason. Have you tried other places in the Czech Republic, too? Cause there're many places here where people are much friendlier than in Prague.
As someone who lives in Prague I can say this is 100% true! New Years Eve here is absolutely nuts! All night the air is filled with smoke, fireworks and the sound of explosions, sirens and happy people screaming. Even more fun than NYC.
Old Town Square was full of tourists at this time. There was only about 10 percent of Czech people, but this is really funny. Can you imagine, how are we free in this beautiful city?
Jaqen H'ghar Depends where you come from. In Germany (where I live) it is written Prag. I suppose the proper way to write it would be the Czech way, Praha.
+starlinguk Oh, I didn't realize that, well the Brits have other stuff trey're great at ;) haha I never thought I'd learn something about 'New Year's Eve habbits' in other countries today :)
+OH NO That Guy! I´m from Czech Republic, for full disclosure. I´d say mostly they do. Only Americans are just too squeamish about everything and from my experience, have trouble understanding that some things are done differently somewhere. I admit I wasn´t in Prague during that night, but from the videos, that was more like a light version. My neighbors have fireworks several times of the weak since October (last year it was every day for two months before New Year´s Eve) and what they do on the actual New Year´s Eve... This video looks like one of their boring jobs. This year, he should go to Czech countryside, his eyes would probably fall out.
Over the break, my subscription box was empty. I'm glad the break is over because I've missed all my late night talk show hosts. Especially you Stephen, especially you
Yeah czechs do it safely pretty much though for an american from the police obedience state it's a hardcore stuff :D. I bet India is a completely different level.
As far as I know it is your nature - being American means to be 100% politically correct. How many people on Old town Square were drunk tourists from all around the world and how many Czechs were there? Give us correct numbers, or make public apology… :-D
+densek510 Three ways how to insult Czech by complete lack of knowledge of their nation to the point of insult - call them Czechoslovakia, give them Russian accents (or connect them with that country in another significant way) and call them eastern Europe.
+tsevca Czechoslovakia = no problem, we are still brothers :) ... eastern Europe = we are in the center of Central Europe !!! OK ?!? :D ... Russian = Grrrrrrrrrr, fu** *** **** ***** ****** !!! :DDDD
+tsevca It's true, I made that mistake a few times in Prague. But to be fair though a lot of Czech people admire Russian culture or Russia so your second point is not far off.

It's not like that. You can expect that the fireworks can explode at the hight of the top of Oldtown hall tower. If you go there on New years eve you must be stupid, drunk or both. The truth is that no one was killed or injured. Some accidents happens everywhere anytime and it's everyone personal responsibility where you go and what's happening around. Come to Prague and see whole Bohemia and specially Moravia. Our country is beautifiul safe and cheap. Do not hesitate to contact me for further details and tips where to go and how.
Oh my gooood he was in Prague!!!
+Sarah Khalafová (Characterless) Hodně lidí tam jezdí :D
EPIC :) i had no idea
Takový ten pocit, já jsem ho mohla vidět naživo, kromě toho, že bych v životě nejela do Prahy na Silvestra, ale nevadí...
Oh Stephen, I missed you so much.
I love Prague, one of the few places in Europe I've been too
Good choice

I see Prague is just as reminiscent of a battlefield as Hamburg is on New Year's Eve!
You are welcome to come to Prague at any time. Did you like our beer? Just say the word and we can send you some Pilsner.
Now I love you even more Stephen. 😂😂 Come to Czech republic this year.
That is the best description of New Year's Eve in Prague! It is one of the scariest and at the same time exhilarating places to be xD
Old Town Square was full of tourists at this time. There was only about 10 percent of Czech people, but this is really funny. Can you imagine, how are we free in this beautiful city?
Prag is beautiful, go there!
+Phil Porter Prague*
Jaqen H'ghar
Depends where you come from. In Germany (where I live) it is written Prag. I suppose the proper way to write it would be the Czech way, Praha.
+Phil Porter Plot twist: Praha is diverged from its older version Pragъ. That is, Prag is a preserved version of its original name Pragъ.
No

Thanks for the info.
Oh I thought that people had firework like this everywhere. From Tallinn, Estonia by the way.
+OH NO That Guy! Yeah, I thought so too! Maybe just in Europe? Although the rules are getting stricter every year..
+starlinguk Oh, I didn't realize that, well the Brits have other stuff trey're great at ;) haha I never thought I'd learn something about 'New Year's Eve habbits' in other countries today :)

Me too! Turns out, they don't... Tere, ma olen Tšehhist. Eestimaa on väga ilus, mulle meeldib Viljandi :-)
As someone who lives in Prague, I completely vouch for this. In 2014, I had professional fireworks going off from the street next to my window.
We missed you Stephen!!!!
He's in Prague!
I'm glad my country's getting some publicity from Mr. Colbert. Love this show even more :)
haha i live in Prague and this video doesn't even properly catch how crazy it is. it's a nice free show though, even from home
Happy New Year Stephen !
My resolution is to not make any resolutions!
...wait.
Glad you got to Prague. Its an amazing city
Over the break, my subscription box was empty. I'm glad the break is over because I've missed all my late night talk show hosts. Especially you Stephen, especially you
This is Prague, hope u enjoined my city ;-)
Stephen, are you telling me you were in my hometown, just walking around the streets, the only night I wasn't there? Ya kiddin' me?! Damn it....
This year, I hope to love someone as much as lesbians love their Subaru Outbacks.
-- _This message totally not brought to you by Subaru._
+fidorover Hey, I drive an Outback and I'm not a lesbian -- college stuff doesn't count, right?
+fidorover I am a lesbian and I have a Nissan Micra. Now I know why it has always seemed there's something missing in my life ...
+starlinguk 😂😂
Worte für die Ewigkeit: "We'll be right back - unless we already are!"
:51 hail Colbert
that segway
Hahaha Stephen was channeling that 'host' or whatever, from the Hunger Games. Hahahahaha!
2:11, for just a second, Stephen doesn't know what he's doing.
Ha, my friend also went to Prague for New Year's and he said the exact same thing. I guess people go crazy over there. :D
the same happens in all of eastern european countries and in the Balkans
Erdi Bulku Really? Why, though? Don't people realize how dangerous it is?
+EndingsAreHard We do the same here in my country (Venezuela) and not only during New Years Eve, also on Christmas.
+EndingsAreHard We do. We just dont care.
+EndingsAreHard but we do but we are not pussies
Most of the people around were probably tourists like him :) Still, he must lucky he did not go to Cologne ;)
Greetings from Prague.
Stephen should have made other peoples resolutions using the big furry hat!
Us, Indians do this every Diwali, only at a much more gigantic scale :D
+mprulez haha that's probably right, we love harmlessly blowing shit up
+megha sharma you got that right.... you really go all the way, the first time i lived throught diwali i thought ww3 had started
dana696dana Ss hahahha! :D
We do some celebrations for Diwali in South Africa, particularly around Durban where I live. I doubt it's as impressive as in India though.
Yeah czechs do it safely pretty much though for an american from the police obedience state it's a hardcore stuff :D. I bet India is a completely different level.
Muff Divers love Subarus.
Stephen, I guarantee you, that there were like 5 Czechs on the Old Town Square, the rest of the people were tourists..
The good ol' classic "Here comes a shitty segue" joke. Writers must have had a nice break as well.
You took two weeks off and that's the material you came back with.
I'm pretty sure he doesn't come up with the "material" himself... He has people who do that for him.
Wow, that's your take away from my point.
Wow thanks for the sage advice. I will remember that next time I look at something that sucks.
+reverse moustache cat First day back, give him time. Also this is Colbert's comedy.
New Year's Eve in Czechia is way different than in the USA, huh?
Finally! UA-cam was too boring these last weeks.
"this years, I resolve i would spent less time looking up my Iphone, because that is time i could be spending with my Ipad..." :-D
Who came just for the Subaru logo?
my new year's resolution is 1080p
Shit, I was there that day and I didn't get to meet Stephen!
I miss the Christmas decorations.
They'll be back in a few months.
+D. Black or even sooner in re-runs!
As far as I know it is your nature - being American means to be 100% politically correct. How many people on Old town Square were drunk tourists from all around the world and how many Czechs were there? Give us correct numbers, or make public apology… :-D
My resolution was to not make resolutions. I failed...
let's just have the election sooner this year, getting tired of not being able to not vote for Donald Trump
just vote for Bernie
/this year im going to be as handsome as colber... damn! never happening
Europeans live hardcore
east Europeans always do such fireworks ... they got this option only few decades ago ))
+densek510 not eastern, central! :D we dont like that mark... east...
+densek510 Thats right... Its central europe
+densek510 Three ways how to insult Czech by complete lack of knowledge of their nation to the point of insult - call them Czechoslovakia, give them Russian accents (or connect them with that country in another significant way) and call them eastern Europe.
