To be fair, Rachel is marrying into one of the most wealthiest families in Asia, and its in their best interest to be supportive. Not saying they aren't genuine
If this movie was only about the other family and didn't include hers, it would have been completely boring. A tired story. Peik Lin's family makes this move hilarious.
I love how at 0:46 oliver hated the dress that rachel was wearing and commented "that is why disco died" but in an earlier scene when they went to nick's house oliver complimented rachel's outfit for being "disco cleopatra"
You know what? I thought at first this family wouldn't be on her side, or it would be really just once appearing side characters, but I love all that support what they give to her, almost like a second family.
Wings TM. Look for this one en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All%27s_Well,_Ends_Well All's Well Ends Well. These movies are usually released during Chinese New Year. When family members who lived far away come home to their parents' place, they all go out and watch movies like this.
@@otaimaksimaify not really tho, he likes her when she said she was an econ professor at nyu which then he compared his daughter as an Asian Ellen to insult Peik Lin 😂
My fashion opinions. The 1st one is like one of those paintings of a bunch of colors and shapes brought together. That should stay on solid frames. The disco ball dress, if sleeveless it would b good for somethings else then a wedding. The 3rd dress is like for a little girl or a doll.
They made both Oliver and Peik Lin less cutthroat and ambitious, which makes the overall tone of the movie a lot less heavy, unlike the book, which I think is pretty interesting.
Style is subjective, fashion comes and goes like a virus. It’s a good thing Peik Lin didn’t look exactly the same as the other Asian girls in the movie. Can you imagine seeing nothing but long, black hair and mainstream high-end fashion like D&G and Versace? Luxury fashion looks like that in Japan and S. Korea, and movie-Peik Lin looks exactly like a lot of rich Singaporean girls who likes quirky, unconventional fashion.
Kurarisu-san Singapore is the last asian country that i think about when it comes to quirky fashion. First of all, Yojhi Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo are from Japan and have you seen how people are dressed at Fashion Weeks in Korea? That’s what you call Fashion Forward. Even Hongkong and Taiwan kids are much more fashionable than the ones i saw in Singapore. Maybe because Singapore weather is too hot..
Well... I can't really judge about how peik Lin should have been, since I haven't read the book... But I'm a costume design student and from what I have seen is that Peik Lin is pretty quirky and from an eccentric family of new money. I think her costumes fit her character potrayal really well. It was probably a decision made between the director, costume designer and awkwafina to dress peik that way, so not only the costumes supports awkwafina comedic nature, but also underlines the difference between the goh family and the family of rachel's boyfriend (who are from old money and definitely far more traditional) From an interview with the director I've learned that Peik Lin should have changed hair styles every scene, but during the costume fitting she tried on the blond wig and it fitted the character so well, that they decided to just keep this one

Here's another comment for you!
Eleanor is a powerful woman
@@Will.Flavell she likes to put on a show as if she is but in reality she has none.
🤣🤣🤣
"your face is so dry, it's hurting my face" "thank you" WHY IS THAT EVERY INTERACTION EVER THAT I'VE HAD
Not trying to be rude but your face must be really dry
So awkward lol
How about moisturize ur face? 🤪
Don't forget the "looks like you gained some weight" 🤣
the way i see it, having a dry face is the only acceptable alternative to having an oily one haha
I love how Peik Lin's family are so supportive to Rachel 🥰
Ikr ❤️

IKR, I thought I recognized this 80's music.
What song is it? Sounds familiar
It's a Chinese version of "Material Girls".
It is Cantonese 😂
I knew I heard Material Girl in the background
lmao people being salty and hatin on the movie because of this clip.. go to the cinemas and see the entire movie!!
What amazes me is how people just judge a movie they haven't fully watched by one small minute 2 clip. This looks like a good movie.
What this movie was hilariously great
I don't get why ppl would hate the film bc of this scene lmao it's so funny
Why did people hate this scene?
@@connor6505 ye ye i dunno either
“I’m not sure if it’s working or if she looks like a clown’s tampon.”

A one minute scene and people are already clowning the entire movie? Jesus ya’ll are actually this jobless?
Wonho’s soft tiddy breast jobless and single
But I love this scene. It's like a scene from those old Hong Kong comedy movies during Chinese New Year.
da96103 - can you give the name or example of those types of movies? i would like to watch one

This is the funniest scene! Hilariously glamorous!
I appreciate Ellen's dad so much in this scene.I thought he was a douche but turns out he's the best.
This scene makes me hate him

I actually liked it. The lines are witty, Ken Jeong is hilarious.
I saw it yesterday and it was super good, definitely recommend it
Oliver was one of my fav characters! I’d love to have him as a friend & stylist
This movie is actually such an comedic emancipation from the pressure how Asians are supposed to be.
This movie was so cute and wonderful, can't wait to buy the DVD ❤
This film has all of my favorite actors and actresses. I guess it is no coincidence consider that all of the Asians in Hollywood is in this film.
I love Oliver and Peik soooo much they're the funniest characters(in my opinion) 😍😍😍
Only now do I recognise Ken Jeong’s signature dance move that he does on tapk shows! That’s amazing
I want a spin off of Peik Lin and Oliver starting a new fashion empire.
This!
Excellent movie.
That first dress was POPPIN'. Not for auntie, but definitely on a carribean vacation!
“And, I would throw in a Korean snail mask” OMG, I use those! I have so much in common with crazy rich Asians. 😋
I love this scene.....hilarious. But the end result was that Rachel looked stunning.
Auntie Neena just grooving, hehe! I assume this will be the stand-in for the scene at Patric's atelier?
0:44 Ooooohhhh the roast 😂

I love Peik Lin’s family!
This movie is just amazing.
This movie made me love Awkwafina
Soundtrack is genius
Mateo when he gets deported and has to pretend to be a socialite to get by
In Fresh Off The Boat, Peik Lin's father is actually Rachel's (Jessica Huang in FOTB) brother-in-law!

There seems to be a negatively charged comment section for this video. I wonder why. It's a pretty good film. Not perfect but pretty good

That part where Auntie Nina is showing her how to pose with the coat is adorable.
Oliver and Peik Lin are my faves!
Canton-rendition of 80s pop music was a nice touch !!
that Chinese version of Madonna's material girl is all I could think of when watching this scene
Devina Anindita cause that’s what was playing during the scene

It's good this way, in the movie Rachel was very short on ally and friends.
