I know im late to the party on this video but man honestly for everything you get and for the price points the fx6 and fx3 are pretty much as good as it gets. I just got my fx6 and Im excited to see what I can do with this thing. How close this thing is to a camera used in Hollywood budget videos that cost 10 times more is crazy. Amazing video once again!!
I have had my FX6 for few weeks and my FX9 for a few months. They both can produce great images and both can do things the other can't (as I'm sure the Venice can as well). Instead of workflow that you covered great, I'll turn to shooting style. For me it comes down to DISTANCE. If the subject is farther from me I want a long lens that can go on my FX9 without feeling like I'll break it in half, and I want the camera on my shoulder so the shot is steady. If I'm close to the subject and can use a gimbal that's where the fx6 comes in. I don't mind holding the FX6 like a football if I'm very close to the subject. I cover sports where I'm often not right up in the player's face so that's why I ended up with both cameras. More times than not I need to be near and far. Great job on the video Kofi.

You are missing the whole point. Sure the FX6 can give you about the same end product. You can shoot your movie on the FX6 and lie that you used a Venice. Yes...it's true...nobody will EVER know. The point of shooting on a Venice?....is that you LOOK COOL on the set. That is the one main thing the FX6 cant give you.
NIce video however you got one term wrong - “digital cameras are not good at retaining shadow detail” Its actually the other way round - film cameras are superior in highlight retention while digital cameras are best at shadow retention. Its one of the reasons cinematography keeps getting darker and darker
personally I think these cameras are getting so good it is a matter of taste. I stopped to ask myself which image looked better and it is really tough. I am a Sony guy but some of the stuff Fuji does is next level.

Wow… I was convinced camera A was the fx6 as the image was just wayyyy more pleasing to my eye and was really bummed as I’m in the market for an fx6 to replace my c70. I’m now… relieved
even on youtube the difference is evident everything is so much cleaner in the cinialta line. i am considering finding a f-3 with rgb 444 upgrade or f-5 instead of fx6 or even fx9 just want a clean image for example look at your samples at the wall under the window fx6 looks magenta and blotchy Venice is smooth and consistent. I know customs will probably never know why there is a difference but they see a difference they just don’t know what it is i wonder is you have even an f-3 cinialta line to do the same comparison I found a Venice on eBay for 20 grand but I gotta do a lot more work to justify that and they have mega hours.

To be honest I thought you were going to reveal that you mixed the A's and B's to prove it doesn't really matter. I thought the A shots were better but a couple looked darker like in the B shots so I dunno. The first shot for sure was nicer... to my eye. Good stuff.

Sony was a client for a design shop I worked at in NYC 20+ years ago. They were doing really cool sh*t then. WE were doing super cool design work for SONY. I just think the Canon image from the C70 is a bit better?? You can't lose here. Both are stunning. Just wondering if you have any "dang" moments.

I am unable to afford the Sony FX6 or the Sony Venice. So the Sony A74 is more in my budget just being realistic. And in crop mode the Sony A74 has the same size sensor as the Sony FS7 Mark 2, Sony FX30 and Sony A6700.
I do see a slight difference with the venice and fx6 coming in. Extra DR in leather jacket footy and colors of the calibrite test do have an edge. That venice flex is definitely Netflix ready! baller

Mate use spotmeter if you gonna make dynamic range test. You don’t know how many stop you have over or under. You shouldn’t test it like this. Ps. It was obvious that Bcam was Venice, even after matching with color correction.

The FX6 looks exactly the same as the FX3 - which looks exactly the same as the A7S3 - which looks exactly the same as the logging camera ZVE1. Let that sink in
I have the FX6 and FX3 and I don't agree, they are really similar but the FX6 has a more pleasing look (more organic); and the FX9 also being really similar has also a more pleasing look compare to the FX6 (it's subtil but it's there)
Compare the skin tones and colors. There are huge differences. Fx6 looks like there are just 3 colors in the skin tones. Especially the girl looked extremely pale. Fx6 almost has no gradients in the skin tones compared to the Venice. Skin tones in comparison look horrible side by side. Don’t get me wrong fx6 looks great but your conclusion that it looks almost like Venice is wrong.
hmmm....Matching the cameras in this way is a little misleading. uploading the raw untouched media would be a more honest comparison. Even putting these two cameras next to each other as a comparison is insane. Just wanted to make a statement. I'm seeing a lot of people saying this fx6 is comparable to a venice and in reality, that is truly not the case. Best of creative luck to you all.
Recently I had a TV shoot on an Alexa35 with Atlas Anamorphics. The production company sent it to the color grader without my briefing and the client already approved the end result before I had a say in it. Mannnn, the color grader straight-up destroyed the footage, messed up the 17 stops dynamic range and skin tones were not natural. A DP's worst nightmare. You can have the best footage in the world, but it can get f*cked somewhere down the pipeline.

There's definately more DR, but how much does one NEEED on average? I think enough that you can use both of these and be SUPER happy

Even putting these two cameras next to each other as a comparison is insane. Just wanted to make a statement. I'm seeing a lot of people saying this fx6 is comparable to a venice and in reality, that is truly not the case. Best of creative luck to you all.

Recently I had a TV shoot on an Alexa35 with Atlas Anamorphics. The production company sent it to the color grader without my briefing and the client already approved the end result before I had a say in it. Mannnn, the color grader straight-up destroyed the footage, messed up the 17 stops dynamic range and skin tones were not natural. A DP's worst nightmare. You can have the best footage in the world, but it can get f*cked somewhere down the pipeline.
Which is a reason why I like UA-cam; you pretty much have a say in the entire production of your own videos ( just doesn’t pay as well at first)
