Sounds like a 3 phase motor upon windup to full speed, these should have come from the factory like this. Putting it on the 2 and 1 settings on the controller wouldn’t change the speed much, I can tell by the sound of the motor that it’s already close to max speed, (3000 rpms), the grinding was likely just motor vibration between the gears, the gears have to be able to withstand the full torque of the motor and these blades actually reduce load on the gears.
I did not think the motor could handle that many rpms, and that makes sense, the grinding just did not sound normal so I didn't want to take the risk considering the gears made of plastic. Yes these blade do reduce the weight so I knew the motor would at least handle the #3 speed.
@@nickandhizfanz Dan Spiffy Neuman converted a Nutone friction drive ceiling fan to a spinner motor in this video. ua-cam.com/video/aM5C6tDY_O0/v-deo.html I know they are two totally different fans but am curious if it is possible to convert one to a spinner motor. I would think getting the gear with the blades attached would be the hardest part to get to spin with a spinner motor.
You can actually get metal gear for the ceiling fan instead of plastic First he take the gears out of the ceiling fan and coat them in oil then you push the gears into clay to mold the shape of the gears gently pull the gears from the mold.pour molten aluminum into the mold then drill the holes in the gears and tap them
Hey Nick, you can probably put a high medium low motor inside the Panama fan so you can sleep with it at night. Would you like to do that sometime from like your Hunter comfort breeze?
its actually going to be under less load even at high speed like that with short blades, that's how it got so fast the only real danger is the grease flying off the gears which could be solved by using some thick grease on the gear teeth
@@ShadiiiCassie-flowers unfortunately it doesn’t matter what speed it’s on, it’ll be impossible to sleep with it on. It isn’t designed to run for long periods of time anyways
I honestly couldn’t tell you. I had to relocate so no longer have that control around but I still have the fan. I just wasn’t willing to risk a possible failure in the motor by pushing it too hard
I got the motor itself from ebay. It didn't come with the rest of the parts so the blades and blade arms are from my 36" Hunter Comfort Breeze which is also from ebay
2:20 damn it’s so quite on high speed
2:24 Dang dude! I'd think that fan was broken if I didn't know it was gear driven! Sounds like a Kitchenaid mixer!
this fan is so quiet I can sleep with it on. approved for installation 😀
Not 🤠

@@nickandhizfanz Well it's only made to be on speed "1" in first place.
😂
@@Alexthefancollector It could be that blades and pitch are not original.
Put it on speed 1
It would be interesting to see if you could put a spinner motor in it from another fan.
I like that idea 🤔

Wow! I didn’t see that coming! Who knew!
Holy frick that thing goes fast
Run it on speed one, it wont harm it more than running it without blades
that fan is a single speed
@alexthefancollectorwalker1553 Shut the hell up, it won't break it you you fucking imbecile
Its connected to a wall control@@oheck

Great fan and video can you tell me how a geared fan works ?
Could you try to put on Cane blades?
I could if I can find cane blades that fit the brackets

Baby original blades would look cool on that

Speed 1 speed 1 speed 1 speed 1!!
No it will probably wobble too much that it will fall out of the dang ceiling!

Boiii and I thought I was a fruit cake for my vacuum thing
Just wait until you find the toilet and public bathroom enthusiasts.
What's the cap value on speed 2? These top out at about 5-6 uf

Fair. But that's probably why the gears were grinding, speed 2 was way over the fan's abilities
I am so eager to find out what speed 1 is now if speed 2 was already over dangerous
Speed 1 is a capacitor and/or motor burn out
man having that would drive me crazy although nice fan where did you get that

I wouldn't be running it that fast
It's so loud on fast speed!
Noisy Ceiling Fan
Nick you need to get the gears checked out because that hiss noise.
Nice
That is really noisy
Mine is faster than yours mine is white not lg its has 3 orange spots on 3 wings
