- West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose is in the midst of a controversy. The Trinamool Congress has flagged the case of a Raj Bhavan employee levelling allegations of molestation against the governor.
In her police complaint, the woman is said to have referred two meetings with the governor.
The governor has called the investigation politically “motivated” and has banned the entry of police personnel into Raj Bhavan premises. The issue has once again ignited a debate on the limits of constitutional immunity.

You prove it in the court. Tomorrow a girl will file a case against Abhishek Banerjee. Someone like you would believe it and ask the police to arrest him immediately. During elections suspicions things are common in WB.

Governor of WB recently criticized TMC Govt's utter failure in maintenance of L& O.
Keeping in mind the Sandheskali rogue Sajahan Sadhik, he pointed out the women's insecurity. This made Mamatha very angry.

It’s a stretch of one’s imagination that one could absolve molestation, rape or murder as committed in discharge of duties. President and Governors should be men or women of unimpeachable character to avoid such embarrassments and damage to the stature of a nation. Maybe in the process of appointing pliant ones who help political objectives of a party in power, a compromise in standards in itself, standards for character get compromised.

The immunity is only for acts of commission (or omission) in the discharge of constitutional duties and behaviour, not for acts of individual and ordinary nature. For example, can he claim immunity if he goes to a shop and steals something?
