@@rudypepperable I remember when Hernandez won both MVP and CYA, and I had no idea who he was. Back then, it was harder to look up that stuff. (I was still a few years away from buying my first Baseball Encyclopedia.) I couldn't find him in my baseball cards because the only set I had a lot of was 1982 Fleer, and I'm not sure he even had a card. The sad part on my end is that the World Series had just happened, and yet I still didn't know who he was. Kinda shows just how non-descript he was, even as a closer for the champ.
The award has really only been around in its current state since 1931. The prior iterations were different award and players could only win once which is why Babe Ruth only has 1.
Ruth has such a small number of MVPs because there was an absurd rule that disqualified players from winning mire than one. That rule was in effect for nearly the entirely of Babes career. Had that rule not existed, there is almost a 100% chance that Ruth has a minimum of 8, but more likely 9 MVPs.
y'all have to start caring about editing your videos instead of just pushing them out as fast as possible, seems like every other JM video has a massive freeze in the middle
They have already confirmed on the JM morning podcast that their editor triple checks these episodes and they don’t freeze on their end. It has to be a UA-cam upload error issue.
cool ideas for a video, you guys all go to a batting cage or driving range and just knock some balls around, making bets and stuff, also i like the couch vs couch thing that happened naturally
No disrespect at all but I am surprised at how little some of them knew MVPs. The guy on the left was unsure about Ohtani when he’s the reigning champ and also won two years ago 😭
Man, there are so many people with pants that blend into the couch with white shoes. My mind has to like stop for a second to process and figure out whose shoes are whose.
there’s been ~200 different MVPs. following the video i always had two in my back pocket and if one got guessed i thought up another two or more real quick. and i don’t consider myself a hardcore baseball fan by any means. i feel like this is way easier than y’all let on
No way a bunch of New Yorkers didn’t remember Joe torre the most recent notable yankee coach or keith Hernandez Mets broadcaster & legend. Then forgot the best hitter in 2000’s in Pujols, Bob Gibson changed the game forever after 1968 MVP by lowering the mound.
Also don't know how they forgot Pujols or even Jose Abreu after mentioning 2020 and Frank Thomas popped in my head instead of Frank Robinson when they mentioned winning MVP in both leagues. So many easy layups just breezed past
What the heck happened there are minute 12:24.... and at 16:47? I'm a 63 year old female and I was yelling several names out that you didn't. lol Well eventually most were named, but... KGJr should have come up earlier, among others. This was entertaining however, gentlemen.
The fact that you have a guy like Lucas on staff, yet continually exclude him from these games, is insane. It's akin to Michael Jordan being a member of a UA-cam channel that plays daily pick-up basketball games, but he never actually plays in any of the games. Who cares?
I don’t think his official role in the company is as a content creator. He works in the marketing department if I remember correctly. When he does appear I think it’s out of choice/to help. The others that usually appear have to create content as their actual job.
@@babychococat123 I think that you're right. I also think that Lucas has established himself as the most capable member of a channel that focuses on baseball knowledge. For me, it's more interesting to watch him strut that knowledge than it is to watch other people struggle w/ the basics.
These videos always depress me. These are supposed to be baseball content people and they collectivly always get very few compared to how many answers there are.
jimmy…the writers voted Gibson for his leadership…and that is a MASSIVELY valuable thing. i watched every single Braves home game when Pendleton won it as well, and a HUGE part of his value was his fantastic leadership.
No its not, that's not real, no one player is going to "lead" an entire team into being magically good for a year. You also didn't see any hypothetical locker room leadership moments, and you wouldn't have seen those moments for any other team, so how can you say Pendleton was a better leader than any other player on any other team?
I feel like Trout and Pujols probably should’ve been gotten, unless I just missed them being said. Lots of ones they missed I’d consider easy (Sosa, Josh Hamilton, Miggy, Chipper, Vlad Sr, Bagwell, Goldschmidt, Acuña, Freeman, etc)
Someone messed up on editing lmao. There's a big freeze in the video.
Wouldn't be a new video without one
happens in so many of their videos lately
Not guessing Albert Pujols is insane
Yup.
Let’s just forget the best player of the 21st century 😂
Only 700 homers. I mean, he’s hard to remember.
Or Miggy, back to back
@@Kaibat1205 Cabrera was mentioned. Mays wasn't though.
Hell yeah. Double freeze vid
Jolly: I’m pretty sure when Babe won there was still a rule that you could only win the award once
This is correct
Yup. A look at the black ink all over his statistics shows he should have won 8-9.
That rule was only in the AL too. In the NL you could win multiple times.
@@snerdterguson at least. he led the league in WAR 11 times and OPS 13 times
Not getting pujols is crazy lol. Or Posey.
I was waiting for anyone to pull out the insane Rollie Fingers Brewers MVP as a relief pitcher
and The Eck!
Eckersley too
Willie Hernandez
Then they could have done 1979 when Willie AND Hernandez won in the NL. Stargell and Keith, that is.
Jim Konstanty for the 1950 Phils!

Another video that freezes in the middle. It’s incredible how often that happens with your videos
I think it's an early upload thing. Happens sometimes with rose rotation
jake's pose during the freeze looks like a 1st grader on picture day lol
When did it freeze?
Just before 13 min
And again at the end too much bad editing
We need more Lucas. That guy is incredible.
Dan's streak of failing these in hilarious ways continues. I think he meant Dennis Eckersly. I also think Bobby Abreu was meant to be Jose Abreu.

Missed some Braves. Chipper and Dale Murphy. Everyone always forgets Dale. Two years in a row!
Terry Pendleton
you know Joez is just looking them up behind everyone on his phone lol
For me it froze for two of Jake’s guesses including the final one
Can y'all watch the videos before publishing them to make sure there are no freezes?
So many glitches recently
Not guessing Pujols or Jackie Robinson is crazy lol
I am convinced these guys’ geography teachers ripped out the Midwest from their textbooks.
Brought to you by Mr. Freeze.
You guys really have to proof these videos.

Did no one say pujols???
lmao Lucas and Max Mannis would have named literally every one
Whats up with this freezing issue
Get it together with the videos freezing guys, come on
Dick Groat is my favorite MVP
He stole the mvp lol
I’m shocked at the overall lack of baseball knowledge among this group
Man, there are so many people with pants that blend into the couch with white shoes. My mind has to like stop for a second to process and figure out whose shoes are whose.
I woulda had to spit Roger Peckinpaugh and Zolio Versailles just to flex lol
Is it bad that the first two to come to my head were Elston Howard and Joe torre
For me it was Joe "Ducky" Medwick, and, because he was born a few miles from where I was, Johnny Evers (of Tinker to Evers to Chance fame)
I can name multiple MVPs. The Jomboy crew behind the cameras and computers
Whoever edits these and uploads them needs to check this one froze twice 😂
Altuve catching strays never change New York 😂😂😂😂😂
Schmidt, Rollins, Howard....all the Phillies!
Who are y’all paying to edit these 🤣
Love your stuff Jolly
Shouting Willie Hernandez the whole time. Writers did not know what to do with relievers in the 80s
I’m sort of surprised how these guys don’t know their baseball history very well.

Always a good day when jm uploads
Starting to think the freezes are intentional
Surprised no one guessed Chipper Jones!
Nice boots Dan, I wear the same ones lol 😎
Kershaw, Clemens, Schmidt, Canseco, Griffey Jr

Thurman Munson too.

Where was Lucas? Haven't seen him in a few videos. It's slightly unfair when he plays.
How do these guys get eliminated for risks when judge Acuña freeman bellinger yelich etc haven’t been mentioned
Yogi Berra
George Brett
Mike Schmidt
Roger Maris
Albert Pujols
Carl Yastrzemski (Triple Crown Winner)
Bob Gibson
12:07 Kirby 😂😂😂😂😂
Which of these guys are the pitchers??? I can’t tell
my day has been made
The amount of big names that baseball content guys and actually pro baseball players missed is little insane
Not saying Mike Trout and Albert Pujols is criminal
These vids are great but the freezing in the middle totally kills them, you gotta do something about that
Josh Hamilton Ivan Rodriguez Juan Gonzalez were in my back pocket
🔥🔥
All these Yankees fans in the staff and they couldn't come up with Gehrig, DiMaggio, Rizzuto, Berra, Howard, Munson, or Mattingly?!
why has there been freezing in every video lately
No Yankees' fans saying Joe Dimaggio?? How are people taking risky picks instead of the obvious guys.
does anyone watch the video before it gets uploaded lol
I’m not sure if this comes up later as I’m still watching, but Eckersley won MVP as a relief pitcher.
so did Willie Hernandez
video just freezes for like 20 seconds at 12:24
No trout? Howard? Pujols? Posey?
Dave Parker⚾
Jose Abreu has an MVP not Bobby
12:07 kirby😂
No Jose Abreu, no Kris Bryant , no Albert or Ryan Braun. Wow
Joe La Sorsa...MLBs Gronk..
Guys buster posey…
Let me play!
I'm curious if anyone says Don Baylor or Nellie Fox. Or even Walter Johnson or Rogers Hornsby.
Fred Lynn
Joez should turn down helping jimmy and Jake for the way he gets shafted in Guts drafts.
No frank Thomas or Jose abreu??? Sammy Sosa ?
Big Yankee fans missing a lot of Yankees! No mention of DiMaggio or Mantle or Mattingly or Munson or Yogi or Rizzuto! I’m not even a Yankee fan!
They said Mantle, but not the rest of them
Man finally some useless trivia my specialty
Only closer to ever win MVP is eckersley I’m pretty sure
rollie fingers too
Willie Hernandez in 1984
Juan Gonzalez
Just a reminder that Albert Belle was robbed the '95 MVP
Ruth only has one because during that time, players can only win the award once during their career
Did nobody say Sosa?
No love for KB
Daniel Murphy should have won it that year anyway
video froze when Jake said the winning guess 🗑

When I read this comment they said trout haha
miguel cabrera and paul goldschmidt not getting picked is crazy
They both did pretty early lol
