Lyrics:
Whenever dark has fallen
You know the spirit of the party starts to come alive
Until the day is dawning
You can throw out all the blues and hit the city lights
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Every night)
You need the evening action (Ba-dubadub-dubadub-dubadub)
A place to dine, a glass of wine, a little late romance
It's a chain reaction (Ba-dubadub-dubadub-dubadub)
You'll see the people of the world coming out to dance
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Every night)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
So come on out tonight and we'll lead the others
On a ride through paradise
And if you feel all right
Then we can be lovers 'cause I see that starlight
Look in your eyes
Don't you know we can fly
Just gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Every night)
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Every night)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
So come on out tonight and we'll lead the others
On a ride through paradise
And if you feel all right
Then we can be lovers 'cause I see that starlight
Look in your eyes
Don't you know we can fly
And if we stay together (Ba-dubadub-dubadub-dubadub)
We'll feel the rhythm of the evening taking us up high
Never mind the weather (Ba-dubadub-dubadub-dubadub)
We'll be dancing in the street until the morning light
'Cause there's music in the air
And lots of lovin' everywhere
So gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
Gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)
So, gimme the night (Give me, give me)
(Alright, tonight)

George Benson is dancing on roller skates, going backwards with guitar in hand, and a huge line of women following him ...
Doesn't get any badder than that.
The dude is smoother than an Italian Marble Floor ... 😎
My favorite part of the video ❤

The man roller skated with a guitar and bought a hot dog in a fantasy island suit. Dope as hell. Pretty good vibes.
haha
'Hey... what kind of hot dog do you want? jumbo, spicy-deluxe or plain?"
"The plain! THE PLAIN!"
Right. That was pretty hot!

This is how music should be, it makes us feel like we have been thrown into the 70s and 80s.
I think people were having more fun in the 70's and 80's than today judging by the music.
because..no instagram and camera phones I swear ( I'm 62)
AWOMON!!
It was a simpler time. Less technology, less flexin’ and everything. Communities were closer. My experience anyway.
I agree
Inflation, man. lol
I'm in my 50's, but every time I hear this song I'm that 14 yr old girl again.. roller skating and jamming. Love this song!
That's sick!
I remember being 12 listening to this at Mission Beach in San Diego. In my 50's now and a top 5 all time song for me.....

This is REAL MUSIC, not that crazy nonsense of today. Thank you, George, for great music. we can remember great times.
One of the finest compositions the world has ever heard.
The musical mind to even conjure up the idea to create a song like this is musical genius level.
Rod Temperton - genius.
Written by the late great Rod Temperton. Who is responsible for some of the best songs ever. Do yourself a favour & research his songs 😁
Hell yeah it is. I ate allot of hotdogs and hamburgers at the cookouts as a kid listening to this 🤣🤣🤣. So many memories
this song take me back, too Gonsalez high school 1988. and still rocks.12/2/21.
Who else thinks George Benson belongs in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Should've been inducted 20 years ago. What a joke.
Wait he's not in?
Absolutely.
That honour is not good enough for George. He's being inducted into the pantheon of gods at mount Olympus! 🏛️
Ruben yes and he is really a jazz guitarist
How about the backup vocals?! Amazing. This song makes me smile no matter how dark the day...beeduubeedubad dubadu badu!
Such a tune almost 44 years later 🙌 I have to dance when I hear this 😎
You can't get any cooler than guitar-playing roller-blading George Benson on a sunset boulevard

You may be cool, but you’ll NEVER be George Benson roller skating down Sunset Boulevard in an island suit singing this song kind of cool!
Also, nothing is as cool as a Rod Temperton composition.

Well you got Quincy Jones on the production side as well tagging along with George. You couldn't lose.

This song is more than 40 years old and it still sounds way better than any of the 'new music' being played on the radio today.
Well that’s not because there isn’t good new music, just that the radio isn’t playing it. If you want some great funky base, I’d recommend “Them Changes” by thundercat. If you want a song that’s magical like this, I’d recommend “Leave the Door Open” by Silk Sonic. Honorable mentions: “Show me the way” and “Sing” by Jon Batiste, “Dang!” By Mac Miller, and “Wesley’s theory (feat George Clinton)” by Kendrick Lamar

I had the supreme privilege of seeing this master live in concert twice during his prime. A true genre-bender - is this jazz, funk, R&B, or Soul? Answer: Yes, yes, yes, and yes!
one of the best things about 50 years old, is the fact that i lived my teenage years in the 80's that is priceless and Iam grateful !!!

Love his facial expressions at the beginning of this song. That's the face of a guy who knows he's killing it.
The guy at the console mixing at the back. George Benson singing note by note his guitar solo, listen to the rhythm guitar, the backing vocals, look at the lady, hear the bass line, the rhythm section. All live, everything perfect. Wonder if it took more than one take but, whatever. This song's so cool sometimes I think it a lullaby.

What kills me, is the fact George Benson is know for this kind of songs where he mostly sings, but in fact his guitar skills are of the chart.
He hides his talents very well. What a boss.
I was in my teens when this came out. This was the first tune I learned to roller skate to. Still sounds fresh, and yes, I'm still roller skating!
It is 1980, a Sunday night and I am listening to "Jazz Flavours" on WQXI-FM in Atlanta and I am studying for Monday morning college exams. This music helped to save my sanity and kept me calm and focused while I studied.

Solo chi ha vissuto gli anni 80 potrà capire l'atmosfera e le sensazioni provate e questa canzone ne è la prova. Stupenda e nostalgica al tempo stesso perché quegli anni nn torneranno più... 😢😢😢❤❤❤
I'm really blessed because this song was popular when I was in high school and they played it like every 30 minutes on the radio! I'm an old, white country boy and I played this cassette in my truck so often that I literally wore it out and it broke and I had to replace it. listen to thundercat
Rod templeton is the genius behind this 😩
For a variety of reasons. One, popular music doesn't incorporate studio musicians much at all. Two, image trumps actual talent because what you can market is valued for the faster $ than art. And three, the world is a much much much more openly cynical and jaded place. Kids would call this corny, like it matters what a 14 year old thinks when it comes to music.
Went to the UK for a business trip and my taxi driver was playing this song. Had to get the name, such a dope tune.
