Of the many vids I watched to fix our Whirlpool washer, this is the one that solved the problem. I was LEGIT on my way to go spend $700 on a new washer tonight. But I thought Id give UA-cam one more shot and found this! STOKED!!!
What was yours doing? Mine is just quitting halfway through a cycle?
Thanks for the video. So i ran the diagnostic and got the 7-1. After it cycled I tested the heating element and it was sizzling...so now what?? Is the issue fixed now??
Hi, so glad i found your video. I was able to get a code of 7-1, but in my case the washing pump does not seem to turn on. Why would the machine give me a heating element code?
Is there a video on how to replace the heating element on that specific whirlpool dishwasher?
So 7-1 code is notorious he started to say- which almost sounded like that's a default code even if the element is working. I have the same code but my element is sizzling hot (kdfe104dss) so if it's indicating this- but its not the heating element- then what could it be? Also noticed that after it ran that whole diag-cycle it "seems" to be running normal now? Is that normal? Lots of questions here- video seemed to cut off with no explanation or solution. Thank you for what you have posted though!
Went to check on it- doing what it was doing before- saying that its washing but just hanging- sometimes it'll wash and go through a cycle and clean but 98% of the time it doesn't seems like an easy fix- something is not allowing it to cycle like it wants too- super frustrating!

Ian, what was your outcome as I have the same issue. getting an F7 E1 , f6 e2, f6 e4 . not washing but heat element is fine. after running diags works fine.

I had the exact same problem. I checked the thermal cut out and the element. Both were good. I put the d/w into diagnostic mode and received the same 7-1 code. The heater then came on and the dry option is now working. Again, Thank You.
Did the heat cycle continue to work for a while? After putting it into diagnostic mode?
Super helpful! I had already replaced the broken heating element, but needed to run this diagnostic in order for the machine to “know” it wasn’t broken. Thanks!
Would have been nice if you said what buttons you pushed
It doesn’t matter what 3 buttons you use. According to the instructions, pick any 3 buttons and then press them in 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3 order, with less than 1 second pause between button presses.

Thanks! Had my element break so I replaced with a new one, but the heat still wouldn't come on. The other videos show you how to install the new elements, but that thing you mentioned about the dishwasher kicking off the circuit was exactly what mine was doing. Ran a test cycle and got the water sizzle! Great video! Saved me $500 for a new one or an expensive service call.

So are you saying that if say the hot water entering the dishwasher. is too cold it disables the heater then, even if the water entering the washer in future is warm enough, it still won't enable the element and we need to do this reset ????
Getting 7-1 and then 3-4 or 4-3…. I checked heater element but the water was halfway covering it. Is that normal? And also it was sizzling.
Legit troubleshooting, mine was disabled only I thought it was broken, so know I have the heating element working
My same dishwasher is tripping my circut breaker - do you know what can be the issue
New dishwasher, will not dry and cannot enter test mode. I do the three button sequence 3 times and panel does not light up indicating test mode. It just sits there and does nothing. Any suggestions?

Hi- thanks for the informative video. I have a KDTE-104DSSO that stopped drying. the white LED also no longer displays on the front planel. I measured the resistance of the heating element from the control PCB and it was good at 13 Ohms. I did a reset and no error codes are showing, yet it still does not heat. The machine is 7 years old and after three years the pump was replaced. any clues? Thanks.
So once I get the new one installed and try running it, it’s still now getting hot. What should I do after I install a new element?
