Since the #Ukraine conflict broke out, #China has been criticized for not condemning #Russia or even for being an "accomplice." What is the Chinese position? In the latest Getting to the Point, Liu Xin explains that China's position has been clear and consistent since 1954.

The parties involved are NATO, Ukraine and Russia, they should be the ones to resolve their differences and end the conflict. If they themselves cannot do it, China won't be able to do it either. These people are heads of states, they are not children. However China can help with the humanitarian aids to the innocent people on both sides of the conflict since China has had good relation with both. If two of your friends are in a fight, you do not give them knives and guns, you should only try to break up the fight.

The USA, its 'puppet nation stooges', the EU and NATO indirectly by supplying weapons of war to fascist neo Nazi mercenaries AND Ukrainians, sealed the fate of millions of Ukrainians. 😗They want to cause unrest, use would be anarchists to do their dirty work regardless of how many Ukrainians will die. 😗If you have ever taken time to watch the jaw dropping documentary by renown journalist John Pilger called 'The coming war with China' from beginning to its conclusion I can tell you, it will open your eyes to the shocking truth re the USA and its incessant aggression, warmongering.

NATO is an organisation led by the USA. I think the war is totally about US and Russian interests. The Ukrainian president is a total idiot most likeley bought by the US.
US interests are geopolitical, economical and in domestic politics. From the geopolitical view, US wants to protect its role as the single hegemon on the planet who sets the rules for all other countries. Their position is strengthened when the Russian development is restrained as much as possible and business ties to their neighbours in Europe get broken. Economically US will profit from the conflict with Russia because Europeans can be pressed to buy new US weapons, US fracking gas, US... Domestically president Biden is under pressure after the weak performance of his administration in Afghanistan and high inflation rates. Deflecting and putting the blame on others has always been a winning strategy under these circumstances.
Russia naturally has its security interests which are harmed by moving the US sphere of influence directly to the Russian border in Ukraine. On the other hand Russia is interested to become an influencial player in the next multipolar world order.
The Ukrainian president is a loyal executor of the US strategy and his citizen lifes are sacrificed to serve the higher good of US well being.
The Europeans and the NATO members except for the US are only pawns or next biggest losers thrown under the bus by their puppet master.
If China isn't interested in maintaining the current unipolar world order where the US can bully all other countries including China then it gets tricky. US will put pressure on China to isolate Russia and if China doesn't comply with US demands they will start blackmailing them with every leverage they can find. That's what hegemons do in an unipolar world order.

China is not at fault. We are the only Nation that hit two large civilian populations

We as the People of America should be the first to bring peace where Nuclear weapons exist.
We should have, years ago worked to give Russia the guarantees the West had

I do not think the US will allow the countries you have listed to come together as one.
China is still a developing country and its per capita income is only a fraction of the US and the US wants to see the death of the Chinese people and China because China has been able to lift so many of her people out of abject poverty.

@@zhangruyi3153 True China is developing but its leadership and governance systems has enough depth, coolness and patience to tolerate the US bulling for another one or two years.
In Ukraine conflict, US have kept its eyes closed from India due to Indians dependence on Russian technologies. Once Indians are out of this dependency, the scenario would change altogether. In India, at this point of time, Russia has an edge over US.
Now India is dependent on Russia and Russia is depending on China. The situation favors China. In order to build a liberate Asia from the clutches of imperial forces the Russia could play a positive role with its full influence to settle the boarder issues of China and Pakistan.
I think in case of conflict in SCS Indian boarder would not remain secure. However, if Trump succeeded the Biden than the scenario may change. Therefore US establishment would try their best to initiate another conflict before midterm election in US. In such scenario India would be at the losing end and the whole region may face huge shocks of violence.
For a world free from all kinds of discrimination, unjust and oppressive systems, the Asia needs to be united, and for that we need India to play its positive role.
A storm of logical and realistic information targeting the youth with help of AI and digital technologies could build the opinions among the people’s and leadership of Asian and African countries to take position and support a global governing system based on peace and justice.

Led by the US, Nato had continued its expansion to annex member countries of the former Soviet Union. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in 2004. Georgia and Ukraine were offered Nato membership in 2008, though without the military alliance.
Without an unequivocal and strong pushback, it is a matter of time that NATO’s tentacles would completely encroach the entire eastern front of Russia. Besides, should Ukraine and Georgia become full-fledge members of NATO, it will effectively increase the encircling pressure and constrict Russia’s access to the Black Sea.
That is not a situation Russia can live with.
Similarly, had Washington enlists Taiwan into AUKUS or the Quad, China would no doubt consider that as an act of war. The only alternative is, as Russia did, to response decisively.

No country has to condemn any action another country does . Sweden in most cases in the past has stayed neutral in conflicts around the world . So have many other countries . Most countries do not want to pick a side . They just want to keep living their lives not being dragged into anything . I do not blame all the citizens of countries for the actions its governments take . People just want to be happy . Have a job that allows them to have a good life .They do not want to hear about people being killed and suffering . Or another country invading another . Most people do not wake up .And are thinking . I hope some country invades another . I am a human being who just was born in the U.S . What my government does creating scenarios to invade another country . I have no control over. I can only after . Hope to get that person voted out . But the problem has already happened they caused . Which then leads to hostilities from other countries because of it . Just like what has happened in the past and now . I am only responsible for what I personally do . Not what my neighbor does . I had nothing to do with the slavery of the black people in the past . I did not kill the Native people in the U.S and put them on a reservation. But the bad history others caused . Effects the generations in the future . Creates more and more racism . Nobody chooses to be born in a certain country . Nobody picks what race they will be . You can only when growing up . Try the best you can be to become a nice person . Some in the U.S like Trump . Others like myself cannot stand the big mouth immoral person. His attitude against China and the many other countries . When he decided to put tariffs on China . My thoughts went too. So for over 20 years the U.S corporations took their businesses to China .Using the Chinese hard working people to put in long hard working days. And as it was helping the corporations in the U.S make lots of money benefiting them . It also was helping Chinas people and the country . But now that China working very hard threw hard work catching up to the U.S . Suddenly its not fair . And you want to take billion back . And yet Trump himself and his daughter were themselves having things they were selling . Made in China . But now that he became a president . Suddenly China are the bad ones . When he is the bad one . And for the longest time here in the U.S we keep hearing . The U.S spends more money on the military then all countries combined . So bragging about how much equipment the U.S creates for nothing more then death to other countries they decide they want to use in on . I would rather hear things like . Look at this new high speed rail . Or some other great achievement that has nothing to do with war machines . Like the many great things China has done . But I do not blame all the citizens of my country for the problems some have done . I only blame the individuals regardless what country they come from . But unfortunately most people will always end up paying more a price .Then the one or few that cause the problems . It appears very young children have no racism in them. They can be in a room all together . Looking so much different then one another . And sharing their toys . Laughing and playing .They may find the looks of someone else different . But may be just wondering why they do not look like them . But over time depending on their environment . That others looking different then them . In some cases by adults is turned into hostility toward people who look different . At this point in time . Unfortunately I do not see it ever changing and only getting worse because of the world expanding in population . I feel some will end up creating a situation. That will make mankind extinct in this century .

I think it was an excellent news piece, covering all the salient points without getting bogged down in small details. One thing I would like to add is the hopeless economic position Ukraine finds itself in. Perhaps China could offer the hope of industrial redevelopment with a rule of law state. Carrots often work better than sticks.

Point is: former soviet countries joined NATO not because of the US, it is an insurance policy that prevents Russia from invading them. Funny fact...if Ukraine had joined NATO, this insane war would not have occurred in the first place.

Liu Xin's report shows us what good journalism is about. Good journalists, like Liu Xin (in the East and West), care about Peace and so has amplified the reasonable Chinese Peace Proposals. You would have thought the Western mainstream media would be equally interested, instead they seek NATO and Western leaders and experts to rubbish it. As she alluded to Bertrand Russell, as a Paece advocate like Mandela, it is worth saying he would have sought to gain traction in the West for the Chinese Peace Initiative if he was alive. Remember his pursuit for Peace during the Cold War, and it worth noting during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Well done for quoting Bertrand Russell. He's one of my favourite authors and was a very wise and intelligent man. He revitalised an interest in logic that would one day become the theoretical basis for computers. We do owe him a great deal for the contributions he brought.
One point about that historical meet between President Carter and Deng Xiaoping was it was recorded that the American side said informally to him at the time that we may knock China in our media and attack you and so on, but we do this just to keep the American public happy, but please do not take offence because remember we are behind you all the way. So what was said was although the public media relationship would look aggressive at times, the secret diplomatic bond was firm. They were prepared to fool their own public such that they could build a strong positive relationship behind the scenes. It was sneaky but sincere at the time.

I agree, it hasn't been ambiguous at all, it's been quite clearly pro-Russian, making an absolute mockery of the supposed adherence to the five principles you outline by condemning, in no uncertain terms, the economic sanctions levied against Russia, while refusing to condemn the Russian invasion of a sovereign country that provoked them.
I'm not unsympathetic to the spirit of what you are saying. It is simply that China's actions throughout the Xi era have told a very different story. These actions have been aggressive, arrogant, bullying, chauvinistic and belligerent. Despite adherence to the one-China policy among all Western countries, Chinese diplomats have interfered with the domestic affairs of nations like Australia and Lithuania, punishing them in an attempt to coerce them to restrict private citizens from expressing private opinions about Taiwan that are contrary to Chinese government policy, while knowing that these are sovereign countries that allow freedom of speech even to their own separatists. They imposed sanctions on Australia, a country friendly to China, merely for asking for a WHO investigation of SARS Covid-19 origin, as if this were some sort of war declaration. Moreover, we have been treated to an endless litany of hyper-aggressive tirades and racially charged anti-Western hatred from Chinese ultra-nationalists throughout our social media platforms, seemingly fully endorsed and often even echoed by Chinese officials at the highest levels, alongside a barrage of unimaginably cynical and alienating accusations that the undifferentiated Western 'demons' mean to sabotage and curtail China's development, despite the fact that the West has persistently and generously invested in Chinese development and prosperity for the past 40 years. Our own urging of peace, tolerance and mutual understanding between the mainland government and the Taiwan government is likewise relentlessly and cynically twisted by ultra-nationalist rhetoric, laced with references to 19th century grievances, into a scheme to break up China, in order to stoke ever increasing anti-Western hatred and militancy, as if in preparation for war.
None of the above reflects any kind of respect for the sovereignty of other lands or even for the other peoples on the planet that you espouse. You claim that we are hypocrites and allow the United States to behave badly, but the reality is that most of the Western world opposed the illegal US invasion of Iraq - that was not a NATO operation. Most of the Western world became hostile to the US under the Trump government. Yet, lacking even the slightest nuance or discernment, you persistently treat us all as little more than a single monolithic, homogeneous extension of Washington.
Perhaps it would be for the best if we did come to a new international agreement taking account of the principle of sovereignty and non-interference as a founding principle. This new order, however, would not mean simply the absence of CIA-funded destabilization or anti-government movements, but also of Chinese political and economic coercion to curtail the freedom of speech of people in other countries, and, it goes without saying, Russian chemical weapons attacks on its dissidents while on European soil, with European civilian victims.
We fought against the insanity of Trumpism. Now, for the sake of a peaceful world, you need to do likewise with your own "wolf warrior" cadre. After all, what can we possibly have to discuss with a Chinese leadership who don't even seem to recognize our common humanity anymore?
Lastly, I will tell you this. When Mao went to Russia to visit Stalin, he was locked up and isolated in a bugged hotel room where Russian spies stole samples of his stool for testing and he ended up shouting at Stalin through the microphones in the walls. After that, no one can be surprised he preferred the relative hospitality of Nixon. xD
Yes, the Western world has its faults. We are not angels or morally superior. Yes, we have as sordid a history as you or anyone else. Yes, we have been flailing around like headless chickens for the past decade and have much to do to improve. But your neighbour to the north... The second they see weakness in you, they would not hesitate to invade and destroy everything you have. They will not argue with you over ideas or philosophy or economics or politics. They will not be moved by moral persuasion or civil disobedience, like Britain was with Gandhi. They will not abide by their agreements, like with the handover of Hong Kong. They will not care if you suffer. They would kill billions of you if they felt they could get away with it. They just want power. And while Russia is afraid of becoming irrelevant, their biggest fear in this regard is not Europe, which is disorganized and ineffective, or even the US, which is far away. Their biggest fear is you.
China is an economic superpower with over a billion people. Russia has a GDP about the level of Spain, and a shrinking population of 144 million, to control a ridiculously oversized landmass that is mostly empty, with a military that can barely hold its own against a hastily assembled defensive force in Ukraine that is half its size. Of course they feel vulnerable, but there is no easy way they will ever feel safe. The only card they have is 5000 nuclear bombs inherited from the Soviet Union with which to threaten the world, and, as they have already made clear, they will use them offensively whenever they like, because, as Putin said, "what is the point of a world without Russia?"
We have built a world in which China prospers, Europe prospers and the US prospers, even Africa begins to prosper. But it is a world in which Russia is stagnant and feels it has no place, and there is no way for either China or NATO to fix that for them, because it is their own fault. Unfortunately for all of us, KGB stool-collectors are exactly the kind of people who you would expect to conclude that it's better to just destroy everything and bring everyone else down with them than accept their own decline. That is what, ultimately, should worry all of us at this juncture. You have picked one of the world's most dangerous and least reliable "friends".
