Michael's very own how to video for these kits is a great laugh for anybody interested! Their final product is atrocious!

This video made me feel a lot better that it wasn't something I was doing wrong. I never did stained glass before but have years of experience with electrical soldering, so at least I have a really good idea how to do that part....that was may thought process when I seen these kits for like %50 off. This has been a nightmare. I've watched several of your tutorials and they are very helpful and to see an experienced stained glass artist having the same problems was a relief but likenyou said this kit is very discouraging. I bought extra supplies trying to figure this out and i was only planning to so this 1 time.

I bought one! Wanted to learn the Art for years. SOOOoooo happy to hear it wasn't ME that was the problem!!! My first attempt was a total epic failure. I also bought the crappy 30$ soldering iron. Even more of a waste of $$. I have pulled the piece of crap back apart, fixed the darn foil and am waiting for the Amazon Gods to deliver me the tools and materials I actually need! Thanks for clarifying the gap thing. Made absolutely no sense to me.

I would love to try stained glass. I saw these kits yesterday at Michael's and thought about buying one. So glad I didn't --thank you for making this video and saving me $30.

I just love listening to you rant. You should contact corporate office and complain. That is disgusting. I've been stain glassing for 2yrs and I would have gotten lost. Thank you for testing them and letting us know. You go girl.

Woman, you have miles more patience than I have. I have no words.

  • @SuperDuckyWho

No, THANK YOU for being critical because crap projects like this KILL so many would be artists by making them think it's them.

You made my day - laughing so hard! Buying this kit should actually help every stained glass artist sell their projects! Once somebody tries this they ought to appreciate what we do!

The "disaster kit" is a terror that aught not be inflicted upon an unsuspecting public. Thanks for this review! Definitely return BOTH kits. Send this video to the manufacturers too. These folks need to know just how bad this is.

Thanks for taking one for the team ... I'm sorry it had to be so painful. It's insane that someone who makes a living doing x craft can't make a kit made for beginners work.

That's nuts. The owners and shareholders of Michael's clearly care about one thing, and that's most certainly not the customer. Cheers to the ones out there that understand that life is art, the way we live and the business we do. Hopefully you're inspiring Michael's people who have lost sight of that Makenzie!

I'm so happy I asked you to review these! I was ready to buy that moon kit too. Sorry it caused you so much stress though ❤. I saw a soldering iron in the display at the store near me. I'll have to check if it comes with stand cause if it doesn't I'll riot for you 😂

Hey Makenzie! I'm a beginner to stained glass, I love your videos, I would love to see a glass box tutorial! I know you did one with a wooden box but would love to see a all glass one possibly in the future! Love your creativity and very thorough instructions. Thanks for all the inspiration and insight!

Also a stained glass artist and agree totally with your conclusions. However, the moon/star kit could be salvaged if you solder the star in the opening between the narrow tips of the moon. It would help the entire thing hold together better, although wire or hobby cane needs to encircle outside of moon to keep straight glass seams from buckling.

You're so right! Stained glass is not a quick DIY project! And it really is an art that you need the right tools and supplies to do it well and correctly. I hope this kit shows people how you really have a trade/skill when you're a stained glass artisan 🙆‍♀️😀 great video!!

OMG!! I am sooooo glad!! I bought one of these a few weeks ago, then i decided i would need help, so I found one of your videos. Everything you were making looked so nice, and mine looked TERRIBLE! I was so sad. I have never done stained glass before, and I figured I just sucked at it! 😢 So today I found this video, and thought this would be a good one to watch to see what I did wrong…But the good news is..I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING WRONG! YAY!! Ok, now I may give stained glass another shot! I would really like to be able to make some nice pieces…I am now going to watch more of your videos, and try to do it the right way. THANK YOU!!

Thank you for this! I am a newbie and DID get the crystals kit to try out. I've done soldering on electronics years ago but this was my first time on glass. For the passed week I've been trying to get my solder lines cleaned up and thanks to your video I'm thinking it's not as much me as it is the materials. I've never seen solder be that mushy and hard to work with! Oh and I also ditched the provided flux for a liquid. At least the bright side is by struggling with this Michael's kit I found your channel!

Thanks for this. I'm an artist, but not a stained glass artist and I often like trying kits to see if I like new art forms before investing a lot of money, and I suspected it was the flux/solder and not me, but thank you for confirming it!
