To be fair, that definitely puts less blame on Vader. He could have seen Han coming and knew he had enough time to let off the shot, but his panicking wingman clipping him would be vastly harder to react to.

The funny thing about that is that I've heard Sith lean into nuances, whereas Jedi say totally not absolute stuff like "Only Sith deal in absolutes" and similar statements about Force, balance and anyone who dares to have a different view

Yea they are called Ysalamiri or something along those lines. They are small slug like creatures that shut off connections to the force in the books. Luke and Mara Jade got stranded on a planet full of them and were cut off from their force powers because of it.
To anyone curious as to why the "shuffle" when he asked "Did you not know what happened". That is know to the fathers as the "Oh this is going to be an interesting story so let me get more comfortable" shuffle and if you ever see this in public or at home buckle up and be ready for one hell of a story.
The entire way through this I was thinking he's going to get force choked and then the countermeasures kicked in. Absolutely awesome!

Do you know what would have been the salt in the wound of that denial claim on the Death Star coverage...
Reminding them that Grand Admiral Thrawn warned the Emperor about how much of a financial waste the Death Star was and how it could have been put toward better ships and upgraded improvements on Tie Fighters.
But no one had to go with Grand Moff Tarkin's ideas which led to making the rebellion stronger. (Note: Destroying Alderon was foolish and I know ACME advisors on the Death Star warned them against said actions. )
With that said, I think that Operator needs some well-paid vacation time to recuperate after dealing with the Galatic Empire or to avoid legal troubles by giving him a less hostile account like the Hydra, Cobra, or the Millennium Organization would be safer to deal with (No worries about force choking.)

To be fair the Tie fighter was sold on the success of the Actis 2 which dumped shields and armor in favor of speed and maneuverability and had one of the highest survival and success rates of any republic fighter.
I mean sure it was also used almost exclusively by Jedi but hey minor details its not like a wierd religion can grant tangible benefits like supernatural reflexes or the ability to litterly see into the future and sense incoming attacks that could aid the fighters survival rates.

If you think about it that exhaust port shoulda melted the ships well before they came into firing range. I mean the amount of energy that had to be stored to fire the laser let alone the amount of heat generated from the mass of the death star would be just crazy
Let's not forget they don't have an atmosphere so they loose a lot of heat where the hull is in direct contact with the void of space. Think of the scene in 'Day after Tomorrow' where the eye of the storm reaches them, letting space touch the surface of earth: that kind of cold. So that at least helps

@@sjonnieplayfull5859 You're thinking about space wrong. You would not immediately freeze by going into space. You are not made cold by transfer of heat through conduction or convection as what you would feel on Earth. Space is considered "cold" because there is very little between each particle in space and each particle that is there has very low energy. In reality, Space is not cold. Space has no temperature, but many of the particles in space are cold. Realistically you would only feel cool on the parts of your body not in direct sunlight, and warm in the parts that are. Your body actually now has more of a problem getting rid of heat in space, as the normal methods it uses to cool itself and regulate are no longer there. Realistically you would be quite alright if it werent for the fact that you would be receiving unfiltered radiation from a star and you would be facing a zero atmosphere environment. The cold is a non issue. This also means that heat radiation from the Death Star would also be largely a non issue, because the heat is largely blackbody radiation, similar to that of a lightbulb or what comes out of those fanless heaters which I am fairly certain spaceships can deal with since they can take whole hits from turbolasers which have much more energy, and the fact that we make spacecraft today that can already deal with it... because the sun is the biggest radiator of this energy that we have access to currently. This also means that the entire area around the thing wouldn't be particularly hot and the heat coming out of that exhaust port would be very directional, but also very intense at least directly above it. The further you get, the more it disperses just like a flashlight.
Yeah, the fact a torpedo could even fly into the port, let alone stay flying down the same trajectory, was quite the reach. Rebels could have realistically had a perfect shot and it'd probably just veered off and blown up the wall.
@@wruenvadam heat dissipation is space is a major limiting factor on any spacecraft. Convection and conduction are basically zero in space because there is no material the heat can transfer to, so you are left with radiation, which is the least effective cooling method. When you see giant panels on things like the international space station, they aren't there to generate power- those are heat exchangers. They need a huge surface area because they have to expose as much surface as possible in order for the heat to radiate effectively. Heat build up is a huge danger even with all of that cooling, and keep in mind the ISS essentially is just running on batteries and solar power (some panels are used for that). NASA and other space agencies have to engineer spacecraft very carefully to avoid heating issues. They have to make sure that every runs on minimal power and with very little waste heat. Some as large as the Death Star would need an insane amount of cooling, and I'm sure Star Wars has a handwavium in universe explanation on how it works, but realistically that would be a nightmare. Kyle Hill did a video on waste and space crafts here in UA-cam that sums it up nicely if you want to check it out.
@@Scudboy17 I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying regarding spacecraft. I was speaking as far as withstanding the heat that is radiated from something like the Death Star. I wasn't speaking about cooling capabilities of space ships. Just the fact that spacecraft should be able to be hit by such radiation with very little issue particularly in the Star Wars universe but also in our own especially since it would only be particularly intense up close. It was in response to the one I was responding to in which they were saying that ships shouldn't even be able to get close without being burned up. This is false and was based on their incorrect perspective on how heat in space works so I responded.
to be fair, Plot Armor is an actual cannon universal mechanic in the star wars setting and Solo has it like no other, literally I think though I could be missing something there: his whole family have had the plot armor thing going for them for thousands of years and in terms of plot armorieness he is to them as they are to normal people, the universe quite literally distorts itself around the story of his life.

You know, I think Rogue One might have some evidence that Vader can use to at least get something from the claim.
Maybe there could be a lawsuit of one of the contractors setting it up to fail, but the others found the flaw and tried to fix it.
Problem is, Rogue One is a knock off of the true story of how the rebel alliance got the Death Star plans. It isnt canon.
Look up Kyle Katarn, Star Wars: dark forces. Thats how the rebel alliance got the plans, and then from there it was delivered to princess leia who attempted to use her diplomatic cover to get the plans to the rebel base.

It doesn't change the case. The matter of fact is that the engineers still recognized the design flaw and reported it to ACME and Palpatine. Whether it was sabotage or not, Palps still declined the panels and signed off on his refusal to pay.

Not even stuff in the supposed encyclopedias of the Star Wars universe is based in canon. He allowed an elaborate canon-ish fanfiction universe to be developed, but none of the games, novels, comics, etc. that make up the expanded Star Wars universe were ever canon. So, technically, that means that Rogue One is the true canon, and Kyle Katarn has been banished to Legends, just like Starkiller, Revan, Jacen and Jaina Solo, Mara Jade-Skywalker, and a whole host of other characters.

I have the same problem with the borge not getting federation star ship coverage because they think they are Superior to everyone. It is not a question of if something will be destroyed but a question of when.
IMO: The only reason Han took Vader out was because of the force though. He was so distracted by (and denying) feeling his son present that it consumed his senses.
I don't think mystical power suppression is covered in their insurance policy.

He does have proof that the builders put an intentional weakpoint in the exhaust, so those covers were not even necessary if not for that.
Well, you forgot the only reason Solo, Luke, and Leia escaped because Vader used them as bait to find the rebel base.
But in Vaders defense, Luke is supposed to be his equal in force sensitivity, at least. Luke had just taken his first few lessons in using these abilities and a Obi-Wan ghost was riding shot gun. So between Luke being out of control with whatever was happening with his force projections and Kanobi adding another layer of protection; Vader had to focus a lot on countering all of that, not leaving a lot to other external threats.
This feels like a Stars without Numbers session.

Better than just being taken by a ship 5 times bigger than the TIE fighter, TIE fighters were known to be incredibly fast. Their issue was, they were so small the engine and weapons took all the space, so there were no shields to protect the ship. One shot and you were gone. Granted, you would have to be good to be able to shoot something so fast

Creatures Called Ysalamiri (Ee-sa-la-meer-ree) shut off connections to the force if you are within a certain radius of them. Luke and Mara Jade got stranded together on a planet full of them. So this was great XD.

I WILL say this the death issue is a very hindsight 20/20 situation since for that “1 in 1 million shot” to happen they needed to know the location of THAT vent, and the perfect shot. If it was such a vulnerablity as it looks like that y wing that fired into it would have done it, notLuke.

That's somehow worse! It paints Palpatine in a bad light, because if you consider how their ships are set up (and how their helmets are made) you could argue that he's at fault for allowing the armor to be so shoddy. No wonder they can't hit their targets, they can barely *see* their target!

New evidence has come to light. Engineer sabotaged the main reactor. Had it not been for this sabotaged flaw the proton torpedo down the vents wouldn't have matter, nor would the force user part. Because it would have only damaged the main reactor and not caused a chain reaction. They gotta have sabotage insurance.

Han is just below the threshold for Jedi powers. His midichlorian count is high for a normal human, but it's below Sabine Wren, and Wren is barely above the line.

Don't forget the third reason for denial of claim. The rebels had the secret plans for the death star to begin with. That's clearly enough reason to deny the claim.

Question: in this universe did you both design and build the Death Star or just build it? Because if it's the former Palpatine was right that he should get them free because that was your mistake. If it's the latter then you are correcting someone else's mistake and you are right he should have paid.
It sounds like Palatine had someone design it and someone else build it. Acme just supplied parts (inventory) as needed, and insurance. Palpatine chose not to add that particular rider to his policy, more fool him (say that to his face, lol), especially after it was pointed out to him by the contractor. Something I'm sure he regretted after the fact.
I mean did they have insurance coverage for of the death star plans get stolen? Is that in the clause? Maybe he could try to appeal the claim for that?
