This makes me so happy to see a deep dive on the Cougs!! As an alumni I am SO proud of what this team has done and happy to say I’ve watched them ball every second of the season. Each player/coach has been crucial and this team truly represents the best of Washington State. Go Cougs!
Their players are underrated, they play as a team and have good coaching... they lost key Kansas transfer G Joseph Yesufu in early January and still keep on winning. WSU has nice size up front and solid guard play. Starting pg Myles Rice (RS-FR) is back after beating cancer (Hodgkin’s Lymphoma) so you know nothing scares him on the court.
Great point about Yesufu. He was awesome at Drake early in his career then kinda slipped through the cracks at Kansas. Think he was a starter early this season too.
Sometimes you just hit gold when it comes to chemistry. A lot of teams have more talent, but this kind of chemistry is rare. And a coach that knows how to maximize it.
Thanks for taking my request Bobby! That was an excellent video. Hopefully WASU can win a few games in the tournament March is approaching, really looking forward to your content for tourney time.
It's a shame that WSU's athletics are just now getting the recognition they deserve after getting left in the dirt by every other PAC school that's just in it for the money. It's unfair that we're in this position but I'm glad people are beginning to see the massive mistake they made by leaving the conference
Another great video. The quality and insight is so solid! I always enjoy sport/team/player breakdowns like this, and it's awesome to find a channel that focuses on my favorite sport, college basketball.
Could you imagine throwing a WSU team into the Mountain West Fire next year and OSU That would truly make the Mountain West complete and loaded Great Video man keep up the breakdowns
Thanks! And yeah the Mountain West has been maybe the best it's ever been and adding those two would be huge. Plus there are teams like UNLV who I imagine will get better in the future.
Crazy thing is UNLV has always been good in the MW, a couple bad rosters the past couple seasons but as a Lobo fan UNLV is always and will forever be a tough team to beat
WSU and OSU are playing MW teams in football next year, but they didn't want the two teams coming in and dominating their other programs, so WSU and OSU basketball are basically in the WCC for the next year or two.
Late to the video cause I had work yesterday but I’ve been waiting for someone to breakdown why Wasu has been so successful and I’m glad it was you. Idk if it would get as many views but it would be cool to see you do videos on lower seeded teams like Samford/McNeese/GCU/High Point/App State that have decent upset potential in the tournament depending on who they get seeded against. A lot of the top seeded teams are already kind of a known factor as for what they bring to the table while these are dark horses that people don’t know about that could come in and make a run
Thanks for watching! And yeah I really wanna do a video on McNeese State but I wanna see how those conference tournaments shake out beforehand. A video featuring one of those teams would probably come the week before selection Sunday
i watched the game against usc on thursday and man once they got hot they really could not be stopped it was so impressive it made me turn the game off 😂.
Wsu actually does recruit pretty well. Issac Jones was a 4 star transfer and Reuben chenleyu was a top 100 prospect. Kyle smith gets 4 stars lowkey every year.
WSU's players, recruits were only underrated, etc, to those NOT in the KNOW. Jaylen Wells was a 3.5 star recruit, that was a BLOODY DAMN ALL AMERICAN ALL AMERICAN ALL AMERICAN, won LOTS OF AWARDS, ACCOLADES, before transfered to WSU. Isaac Jones scored 60 points in games at Wenatchee Valley Community College, then transfered to Idaho, where he was a 3.5 star transfer recruit to WSU. Rice was, is a 3.5 star recruit. Ruben Chinyelu, was, is a 4.5 star recruit from NBA Global Academy Africa, that was either one of the best players, an or the BEST player out of Africa, where his coach(a former NBA player, NBA coach, said he is a future NBA player, prospect, and has been compared to past NBA Global Academy Africa player Gadney who was drafted in the NBA draft lottery, and Ruben has had a HELL OF A LOT OF AWESOME OFFERS, FROM AWESOME COLLEGES. Jakimovski was, is a 4 star recruit from NBA Global Academy. He was highly recruited as well. Cluff was, is a 3 star JC transfer. A nobody recruit is a 2 star to 2.5 star recruit. Example Harmeling, Cowgil from Dick Bennet. Stop saying that Kyle Smith's recruits were NOBODY recruits. That's a FALSE NARRATIVE. Kyle Smith is the BEST BLOODY DAMN GOOD RECRUITER IN WSU HISTORY TIED WITH RAVELING, SAMPSON ONLY STUART HOUSE(Raveling Recruit)(#2 ranked recruit in nation at the time) is equal to or better, higher ranked recruit the Chinyelu(Kyle Smith's recruit)
First of all GoCougs! I agree that the staff does a great job recruiting and this year speaks volumes after losing all the pieces from last year’s team. Even Rodman transferred because “he wanted to win”. I think the narrative in the video is WSU picks up mid level recruits and gets the job done vs colleges with mid and high level recruits more highly touted which is impressive. Credit the players and staff for a great year. Hoping to see a PAC title and some more dubs in the big dance! Go Cougs!!
Reuben Chinyelu deserved a bit more attention in the video. He got mentioned for the size, but his impact has been incredible for a freshman. Plus he was a 4 star top 100 recruit and through the whole video you just talk about how there are no high recruits on the team.
So they have a crafty PG who can pass, an efficient post scorer, a knockdown perimeter shooter, and solid role players…all with several years of collegiate experience? I think u figured out the secret of their success lol
I’m so disappointed that practicality the entire roster has left. I can’t say I didn’t expect it, but it still hurts to know it may be a long time until we will be relevant again…😢
I wouldn't blame Kyle Smith at all if he takes a big offer and leaves but I hope he sticks around for a couple more years. If Oregon State can pull their heads out of their asses then the WCC could have four solid programs with Gonzaga and Saint Mary's.
First, you do know Leaf played football? And while he has made his mistakes and had many challenges, the manner in which he has taken responsibility for those actions and turned his life around is an inspiration.
My thoughts are “Go COUGS!!!”

Nailed it! Love this team. You left out how generous they are with sharing the ball and sharing the glory. They are a special group of young men!
Team is so fun to watch and the atmosphere at the stadium has went up another level the last 2 weeks. Todays game vs UCLA was fun af

Honestly going to the WCC next few years might help their visibility. Should be a fun conference with them and Gonzaga/SMC

@@BobbyDouglasBasketball WSU & OSU are playing in the WCC next season not MWC!
Wells killed my 17 pick parlay hit a 4 point play against Arizona. Earned my respect that was a heck of a game 😂
I pray this team stays together
not in today's NIL era
Thank you for the breakdown. Go Cougs!
love my cougs and coach KS! awesome video!

Appreciate it!

Can they go in as a top 5 seed if they win the pac 12?
Best Coug bball team I’ve ever seen. Been so fun to watch and follow all year…GO COUGS!
Saw them against Boise State... about to see them against Washington on Thursday.
As a Zag fan this is my back up team. This year they may be better than the Zags. Go Cougs and of course Go Zags.
most under rated and useful videos💯
Thanks!

Kyle Smith Moneyball. Chemistry. Talent. A chip on the shoulder. Coachable. Cohesive. Unselfish. Never get rattled. Makes sense to me.
They'll probably be a 4 or 5 seed, so they won't be upsetting anyone in the tourney unless they make to the Sweet 16. Which they look built to do.
I'd argue the whole season has been an upset hahaha
Final four sleeper
So sad that there won’t be a PAC12 for the Cougs to dominate next year 😢
Cougs to elite 8?? Hell yea
They look like a contender!
WAZZU
I really hope wsu has a better football 🏈 team next season
GO COUGS! YOU'RE AWESOME!
this video was really well made thanks for shining a little light on the cougs!
Thanks so much!
PAC 2 Baby!
In Kyle Smith we trust
first place?
Oscar Cluff. That’s your answer.
