God, this video made me nostalgic and very happy! I am of the Gen X generation who witnessed the magnificent 80s as a teen. What a time to have been alive!
Wonderfully uplifting video. Took me right back to the early 80s in London and seeing them live. I'm well into my 60s now, and I am so happy to have been here in the 80s. Best f*****g days of my life.
when good music is playing, it brings every color, creed and religion together and we all forget about why we can't get along for a brief moment. Hands up for the musicians who made and are still making good music.
This song brings me back to being a teenager in the 80’s. I can smell the interior of the burgundy corvette I was in when I first heard this song played on cassette. Thinking how lucky I was to be experiencing such a wide variety of sonic gems in that decade. What an amazing time etched in the history of the world.
In 1984, we would head over to the mall video arcade on Friday nights. We always got excited when this song came on the radio. It always seemed to bring us good luck with our scores! Ahhhhhhh the simpler times. Miss them so much!
I think it would be cool to get loads of people wiggle to this in Trafalgar Square sometime. Spontaneous like, to this song. Just need a nice big portable speaker!
Thanks for the video. I always liked this song. It really wants to make you move. I recognized that many of the scenes were shot in Los Angeles Union Station. A great place with those polished floors to dance on. It was interesting to see the other people’s reactions to the dancers.
Thanks to UA-cam’s algorithms this has appeared on my feed and made my Christmas Eve. Thank you for making this video. It’s pure joy. And it’s such a timeless tune. 😊👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎄🎄🎄🎄
We didn’t know it then, but living in the 80s was a huge privilege. Almost all the time we knew incredible songs like this, and it seemed normal for us, but now we know that it was the era of the birth of eternal classics.
Yes and no. There are great songs in every generation. We had a surge of them in the 80's and 90's and then something kind of died once we got rap/hip-hop. One of the reason why Taylor Swift rules right now is that she's one of the few that is known and is no in that genre. The internet and the studios have found a formula for what sells and until the loop gets broken that's what we are going to be stuck hearing.
i don't know why, but it made me cry(always makes me cry), maybe it's the pandemic, lockdown, hopelessness, despair or is it the fact that we'll never be anle to see each other without a face mask with the confidence that we used to feel before "wuhan'dora's box". Damn, those dances really fit this song, I hope I join you any time soon after this struggle against human destruction comes clear. wow the sun has just come up, or is it the clouds that let him come out and greet us..?"?
Absolutely AMAZING!!!! Just discovered this vid. and sent it all around the world to the friends I have taken to Union Station after a wonderful lunch at Phiippe's. From Eastbourne, Sussex, UK
