  • A lot of the problems we encounter in applying a smooth finish to walls is that most walls are not completely smooth and/or have a lot of defects that become more noticeable with a shiny or polished finish. One way to overcome this is to apply a physical texture in uniform patches that will disguise and camouflage imperfections.
Other terms for this are “Skip Trowel, Knockdown, Sponge trowel knockdown, Backfill, etc. You create your own visual texture with a tool that will eliminate problems with achieving a perfectly smooth surface.
Watch this video to see how to easily achieve a beautiful finish without having to worry about the condition of the walls or how you are going to apply venetian plaster or metallic textures.
Materials: GPW Venetian Plaster “Ice Blue”. GPW Metallic Texture (gold base) “Cognac Copper”.
Tools: a 6 inch and a 3 inch flexible spackling knife, GPW Small Trowel 220 x 80mm (3" x 8"), palm size Sea Wool Sponge

Nice job, planning on doing this on our kitchen walls (instead of installing tile backsplash),would that work ? Also can you get this plaster in different colors ?

it will be hard to clean, you can also have a glass guy cut out the same shape of your backsplash to cover it to seal it with some clear coat washable

Can you do the first technique with metallic Venetian plaster? I mean I don’t see why not…it’s the same plaster used in both techniques, right? Just applied differently. Why is it called ‘Venetian Plaster’ anyways???

This might be a silly question, then do you paint on this? Or is this a finish for a wall?
