    The Kirf width should be approximately as wide as the material is thick. So the wobble settings would be different for different thickness materials.

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  3 роки тому +2

      I would hope not! This gold is 0.8 mm thick which would mean the curve would be 0.8 mm wide! That would be huge. 0.33 is less than half that, so hopefully we can save a little bit of that gold lol

    Something can help to cut gold , is to use 2 parameters 2 différents wobbles 2 différents speeds , first to cut second to clean the surface simultaneously. For this you have to use 2 pens .

    Posted on the other video but here are the settings I use. In lightburn with a 60W MOPA and a 110 lens my settings are: SPEED 60, MAX POWER 85, FREQ 37 Khz, Q PULSE 200, Num Passes, 75, Perferation mode on, 0.05 CUT, Skip 0.01, Wobble Mode on, 0.0330 STEP, 0.0300 SIZE, Kerf Offset 0.050 OUTWARD. This worked well on .5mm thick 18K Yellow

    Awesome video! Instead of supporting the gold so that its air cooled, have you thought about a sacrificial copper chilling plate. We have to use that when tig welding stainless due to its high warp factor and temperature sensitivity.

    I have to cut a design in gold with many holes that are relatively close together. I must use the wooble to the minimum, right? Since the bigger it is, the sides will burn, right?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  2 роки тому

      Yes a smaller wobble will help with that but also increases the likelihood that the cut line will reweld the metal back together as you're trying to cut so it can not be too small.

    • @LaserEverything

      If you have a high frequency machine I recommend using the highest frequency you can. Low frequency fiber laser beams tend to start fires on wood. Still, best of a bad match. CO2 or Diode is much better suited for wood.

    Can you plz guide me about wobble setting for name pandent cutting?

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  3 роки тому

      Depends on the thickness of the gold but if your wobble is too small the gold will weld back together from the heat of the laser. You MUST use a decently sized wobble or hatch to get results. As you can see in the video using a smaller wobble worked well on some golds but not on others. .33 is the minimum I would do for 100% success every time.

      @@esjsharken Stainless is a pain, not so much because it's harder (as in higher melting/boiling) but it leaves behind a lot of debris after each cutting pass. I've found the only way to cut stainless reliably is to alternate a cutting pass with a cleaning pass - it's slow, but does get through. Cutting anything decent (1mm or over) will need a 60W laser, 30W just doesn't cut it.

    Not sure if there would help. I been on the retail jewelry industries. Now gold is usually mixed with other metals and the higher the karat of gold the more weak the gold is (but more pure)
    Rose gold it's mixed with copper
    White gold it's mixed with Nicole
    This might help UA-cam understand better how to cut metals

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for that info!

    • @doen.8724
      @doen.8724 Рік тому

      Rose gold still has silver in it. You make rose gold by raising the copper content in the alloy mixture. There is just more copper in the mix compared to yellow gold. There are also other metals added, for example zinc, to make either rolling or casting easier. By adjusting the proportions of the alloys to each other, you can create all kinds of gold tones. You can create green and peach tones. The same with white gold. Nickel is a strong whitening agent. But there are all kinds of mixtures out there, with varying amounts of nickel. in general, the more nickel, the harder the metal. There is also palladium white gold, which contains no nickel. I think the bottom line is, you have to do test cuts and test engravings on each piece of gold jewelry from different manufactures if you really want to get the best results.

      We share our parameter library on our website for free, and there is a conversion tool made by a member of the community if there is a setting you'd like to convert that isn't in that library. That would be the best way to get that info so it is specific to your lens and wattage as a starting point.
