Thanks. I've done some very basic spelunking, but a good friend of mine is a senior cave rescuer in Australia and I spent a lot of time running situations by him and asking what he would do. I've done the first level of cave diving (which is really more cavern diving and as far as my guts will ever let me go).
I believe that you are becoming one of my favorite adventure authors. Like James Rollins, I always learn something from you beyond the adventures themselves. Thank you.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I cringe to think what obvious mistakes I would have made to an actual caver. I've been caving a few times, but always with guides (more as a tourist). A good friend who I regularly go canyoning and rock climbing with is part of the Australian Cave Rescue Association and has worked on several cave rescues, so I spent a lot of time picking his brains. If you have a favourite cave system for a future book, let me know and I'll try and add it to a future book. :)
David Gilmore tells me he will finish narrating The Relic Hunter in the next day or two, so you can expect it here in the next few days. Fingers crossed. If anyone uses Spotify, all my books are there now, and I believe you get one free audiobook per month. open.spotify.com/playlist/704dp83Z3KxF2jQKgFn2pY?si=xVkgO_rGT-CN75b6afPnTQ&pi=a-lFiKAsLPTCql
Also, if you do use Spotify regularly, if you could please be so kind as to hit the save button for my audiobooks playlist that helps Spotify's algorithm to promote my Sam Reilly playlist (and I would be forever grateful). Thank you. I like James Rollins too. The new book, The Relic Hunter will come out next week. Happy New Year to you and yours. :)
I've been a caver for 35 years . I love hearing references to caving and equipment!
