Repetition IS the key to success. I started my Bonsai journey after I discovered this channel. Three years later and maybe 1,000 videos I have 22 bonsai. I’ve purchased some expensive species but have also done air layering and used discounted materials from the home improvement store. My only hope is after I pass my children or grandchildren will adopt my trees.
Reach out to your local bonsai club when you feel like you need to retire. They will find good homes for your trees. I speak from experience from being in our club 3 years. Quite a few members have passed suddenly and lost their trees When arrangements had not been made for them, and it's sad every time. Don't leave your trees to someone who is dealing with your funeral and doesn't want to learn bonsai. 😂😢😅
I learned how to do bonsai from this channel and Mr. Chan many years ago now(before 2016). I learned how easy it was and that any tree could be a bonsai and I haven't stop since. It's really brought a lot to my life. I really enjoy them. I wish I lived in Britain so that I could thank him personally. I am eternally grateful.
I don't think any of your subscribers feel that you repeat yourself. It is inspiring and entertaining to watch you create and demonstrate how to do it ourselves.
Love your videos, as always, Peter. As sad as it is, I know I'm finally getting into the hobby because I've accidentally killed a few trees. Every experience is a chance to what you can do, but also what you shouldn't do, and in your case, teach others what you've learned. Your experience and your willingness to share is invaluable!
Seeing this reminds me of all the previous projects you have done Peter. How about a series going back to some of the projects to see how they are progressing?
I am especially inspired by the guidance on forest plantings. In the U.S. we who have been around bonsai for a long time think of John Naka's famous "Goshin," a planting of 11 junipers, as a kind of touchstone for forest creations. I am eyeing a project for this coming spring and appreciate your video.
Good morning Peter, How true in life lesson, If you wanted to learn to do something proficient, you have to practice, and practice, and practice some more and learn from your mistakes also be open to criticism, and be pliable while learning from someone who has master the skilled. I remember when I was learning how to play basketball and I loved to become not just good but a great player. I just kept practicing until I became very proficient. Later on I was offered an athletic scholarship to play at a major university, those are the rewards from practicing and hard work. The same thing happened in art and design school. Now that I am retired I am learning a new skill learning how to make Bonsai tree from the great masters. Thank you Peter for your teaching method and your wisdom about life. Have a Happy Holiday.🌟🙏🎉🎄🍺
Always thank for such addictive video. I go further to implement your word "I don't like waste" by starting bonsai from neglected, useless, almost become garbage plants, purchased or given by my neighborhood. Salam from 🇲🇨
Morning Peter, good to get back to basics with simple material which most would not give a second glance, few minutes work can achieve a start to creating a credible bonsai. I bought a mugo pine that appears to have no future as a bonsai tree having a reasonably thick long straight trunk, I am going to split the trunk for the first time, never tried it before to get some shape into it, watching you do just that I will bite the bullet as you say, it's cheap enough to have a go. You can always try something new knowing if it goes wrong it's not the end of the world. I will learn something and not make the same mistake next time. Thank you Peter.
I had a dream last week that i was watching a Heron's video where Peter was making a bonsai out of a celery plant... I'm guessing things don't go quite that far here, but when I saw the title I did wonder for a moment.
Hello Peter I am from Utah in the USA. I pulled some Cottonwood out of my back yard which are about the size of the trees you are using today. I'm looking forward to working with them now.

I make bonsai’s from sprouted Avocado 🥑 .
Love those cotoneasters
Thanks for sharing
You are repeating the procedures BUT every tree is unique; so it's a new example of what you do with THESE stems and branches.
Great video. Very informative. I wonder if you could make more videos about how to display bonsai? What am I to do with all these trees?
Bonsai are most satisfying when created as and given as gifts. 🙏🏿😔🙏🏿
4:07 “allenati finché non tornano le mucche a casa “ ahahahah
👍👌🙂
learning from my mistake… starting bonsai until my retirement 🤭
first!
Meno male una cosa intelligente parlato anche in italiano era ora .
These are twigs in pots, not bonsai!
You’ve gotta love UA-cam critics.. Always there with that useful and thought provoking information.. We all applaud you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙄😒
Really insightful. So glad you have the money to start with massive trees. So sad your twigs will never become trees.
Another arm chair quarterback … UA-cam is full of them.
Patience Grasshopper . . .
Did you expect instant bonsai? That's totally not how it works
