It explains the migration from early Spring when martins just arrive, completely through the nest cycle and includes pre-migratory roost footage as the Purple Martins begin their journey to winter grounds in South America.

As a 4th year Purple Martin landlord and still lots to learn I found your video enlightening and inspiring! Just put up a 24 TVG Gemini rack along with my BoGourd 6 racks.... Looks like a promising 2013 season here in Central Florida! Look forward to sharing your video ... Great job!

We have been successful Martin Land Lords for over 10 years now. We spend a lot of money on housing that didn't work. We purchased a "T" 14 and 4 gourds and we had martins checking out our offering within two weeks. Following year we had 6 pairs. We are now full up. 18 cavities. We keep a record and do nest checks frequently. Last year, 2019, we fledged 86 Martin hatch-lings. We have taught our birds to feed from a tray on a pole and in inclement weather we pop for a meal of meal worms, scrambled eggs and washed egg shells. We save egg shells all year long.

This is wonderful. I found this video after watching two YT videos on sightings of modern pterosaurs (pterodactyls). My wife and I are now delighted to know about Purple Martins.

Larry, Thank you for sharing this video with all martin enthusiasts. It is always enjoyable to see the martins in other habitats and situations. You've captured a moment that is so difficult to do . Keep up the great photography and slow motion technique. It really adds to the martin beauty that our eyes cannot often appreciate.

Great video, Larry! I particularly enjoyed the nestcam that captured the vocalizations of the babies inside the gourd and the parents outside!

Wow I didn't get it until I saw the swarm of birds near the end of the video. I don't know if I knew what a purple martin was but I might even try and build a site up where I live in Canada. It's half way through May so I might be able to catch some of the late ones.

that's pretty cool .. I am in the country outside LaGrange Ga.... I only have about 10 gourds but count about 20 birds... we feel so sad when they leave us we always sit on porch an watch them early morning with our coffee... an so happy when they come back ...I was a little late putting out gourds this year by several weeks... put them up turn my back headed for house turned an looked back an one was already there it was like they were in the tress waiting for their home...so much fun..
