Thanks so much for coming to my rescue, @DaFingaz - I really appreciate you doing this tutorial😊. In my case, I deleted a component that Logic "flagged" during the initial scan instead of deleting all of the components first (after I updated to version 11) and that got things back up and running immediately. Hope all is going well with you and your music.

i had a deeper pr0blem, my solution was to divide the computer in two disks and migrate just what i need. Then you come back to the other disk and migrate logic back, but remember to ad your preferences and templates, shortcuts etc... Just clean what is third party, unplug ssd’s etc.

I went to the components folder and there was only 1 thing in the folder so I removed it and everything works now . Frigging 1 component and it locked up my setup with Logic. Apple should have handled this. seems like many of us struggled with this!
My components folder is empty, all the plug-in folders are empty. I copied the folders anyway and followed the instructions. Nothing happened. Garageband still didn't load.

Thanks for the video. This actually didn't work for me. But it gave me hope and I kept looking. It turns out it was the latest version of Melodyne. I uninstalled it and it worked right away. This was after I had moved all my plugins out. So now I'll move them in and see if I have any issues. Thanks again.
Thank you. I just dragged them all out and back into the components folder and it opened my file, thanks a million bro, I think logic just needed a refresh to recognise the plugins that were installed that may have glitched through heavy processing. Great job.
mine says "corrupted file" and won't open at all... I tried those steps but component is empty. the project just had a few samples from Splice ...nothing major at all. its saying convert but how when it won't even open???
Ooh. That's a tough one. I think there's a way to open up the logic file (Maybe control or command and click) and get to the audio files of the track. Then you can import them into a new session. I'd also try to duplicate the session and see if that opens up or still says corrupted.
It should still be in the trash can unless you emptied the trash. :( If you emptied the trash, the next option would be *if you have a time machine (or other) backup that allows you to go to that specific folder. Worst case scenario (or maybe a blessing in disguise): You rebuild from scratch and start with the essential plugins you need.
I was working on a project, and I opened the eq but I also closed out the project with the eq still open, now whenever I click on the project, it only opens the eq, I can't see the project but I can still press the space bar and hear the song start to play, please help

Oh no. :( If you don't have any 3rd party plugins, definitely get on a chat with Apple. They are very helpful and can help you find a solution. One thing they might ask is if you can make sure your OS and your version of Logic is on the latest version that your computer can support.
Wondering if ANYONE has any work arounds for the missing Environment Window in Logic 10.x? I've been using the Environment window for complex midi wiring & mapping external synth programs since it was an Emagic product (v1.5 or 2). 27 years now. I am absolutely gutted that Apple has removed the Environment window from Logic 10. - I can still open it if I use old templates. But maybe soon that will not be possible either!! I have YET to find work-arounds for; Mapping split-midi-cabling..... Remapping midi notes from one VST to another (Internal Logic Auto Drummer to Superior Drummer -- Logic uses non-standard midi maps).. and a host of other routing not available outside of the Environment Window.
quick tip to make the plug-in copy + troubleshooting process as efficient as possible- mathematically, the quickest way to find the problematic plugin with this method is to test half of your plug-ins in each batch. start with half of your plug-ins. if logic opens fine, the problem is in the other half. if there's an error, it's in the half you dragged over. then split the group in half again and test again. rinse and repeat until you've found the problematic plugin.
Definitely...much much faster. LOL. Apple had me do smaller batches. It would have only taken 5 minuter or less with your method though. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Marcus. Great tutorial! As a long-time support guy (at a college) I find I need to be reminded of solutions even though I've been around that block many times. Oh well, guess I'm just another meat sack. Anyway, I thought I'd throw in another way for Logic user to filter plugins when they have a lot of them: In that Components folder, use the list view and sort by date. I had a LOAD of really old plugins (that I didn't even know were still hanging around!). I basically selected all of the pre-2015 plugs that weren't Native Instruments (I guess they've been on the 64bit bandwagon for awhile) and deleted them. Took about 45 seconds and I was back up and running. BTW, your tip about the root Library folder is golden, as all of the other advice just says "Library" and there is a Components folder in the ~/Library/Audio folder too. Really important detail! Thanks again for waking up an old fart who forgets stuff alot!
Thanks, Pat! Sorting by date would have saved me half the time actually; I would have easily just deleted plugins probably older than 3 years (maybe even 1-2 years). Yeah, that Library folder was throwing me off. I actually didn't realize there was a Library folder in the User folders until I started doing this video. I was recording a previous version of this video and ran into the issue where I was in my home folder and not the root folder. 😂 I You're not old man. We are as young as we feel (to an extent 😂). Logic was doing to me exactly what it was doing to you, and as you did, I searched all the forums and couldn't find a solution so I happen to take a chance to see if someone on UA-cam posted something, and your video came up! But I have a few dozen older projects that I like to keep up to date and I really wanted to try the new features in 10.5. What’s annoying is that I upgraded to 10.5 when it was released and everything worked just fine. For some reason, when I opened up a project yesterday, Logic wouldn’t open. This seems to be exactly what was crashing Logic! I haven't found the offending plugin yet, Logic is actually opening which it wasn't for hours, so THANK YOU!!!

@@dafingaz Well...Logic opens but now the plugins don’t work. Hahahaha! Well some work and some don’t. Some validate just fine and some don’t validate at all. 🤦🏻♂️

@@dafingaz Well...I don’t really use Logic as much as I use to. I primarily use Ableton and Cubase. But I have a few dozen older projects that I like to keep up to date and I really wanted to try the new features in 10.5. What’s annoying is that I upgraded to 10.5 when it was released and everything worked just fine. For some reason, when I opened up a project yesterday, Logic wouldn’t open. Thanks to your solution...now it opens but now there are plugin issues. 🤦🏻♂️

I worked with Logic Express 7, some time ago and in trying to open 10 years later, it Freezes at the Licensing screen where you input your name, Organization and Serial Number. I cannot type anything in it anymore. Any idea how to get past this? I have the box and Software, But, If I upload the software will it erase my music?? Any guidance would be appreciated…Thank you in advance 🙏🏼
