She won 2 Grammy's tonight. She didn't go; she has to take care of herself. I love her more than ever. "I’m just not made for that kind of stuff anymore. I want to stay sober and I can’t do that sober."
Now won't you listen, honey, while I say How could you tell me that you're gone away? Don't say that we must part Don't break my aching heart You know I loved you truly many years I loved you night and day How could you tell to me, honey Can't you see my tears? Now listen while I say After you've gone And left me crying After you've gone There's no denying You'll feel blue You'll feel sad You'll miss the bestest pal you've ever had There'll come a time Now don't forget it There'll come a time When you'll regret it Someday when you grow lonely Your heart will break like mine And you'll want me only After you've gone After you've gone away After you've gone After the break up After you've gone You are gonna wake up And you will find That you were blind To let somebody come and change your mind After the years that we've been together The joy and all the tears And all types of weather Someday, when you're down-hearted You'll long to be right back where we started After you've gone After you've gone away Oh, baby, think what you're doing You know my love for you will drive me to ruin After you've gone After you've gone away
I absolutely adore this song!! She is so beautiful and sweet and so is her voice. I come back to this song time after time. I wish it was released so I can have forever. It hits home so often right at the best moments
I first heard it on "Judy - Live At Last - at Carnegie Hall," a 1961 recording. Loved it. I can't decide which is better, hers or any of the others who have performed it since it was written over 100 years ago. Talk about an oldie but goodie.
Sorry dudes Fiona is good but cannot be mentioned in the same breath as Judy Garland. Her singing on this song is an attempt to sound too much a black diva in the Billie realm. Judy's version live at Carnegie Hall is a singing masterpiece and sends shivers!
All I can say is . . . WOW! She just never stops surprising me. After "Bolt Cutters," I wonder if she'd consider recording an album of old standards (from any era -- 1910's to 1950's or '60's)?
Fiona could even only have done this single performance in all her life to be forever at the top of my most loved interpretations iTunes playlist! There are moments in life, 'magic moments' when all the stars are in the right conjunction and you do something that maybe you will never be able to repeat in our short life, a spark, a flash, a 'blessed State of Grace' (hey; I'm atheist and astrology is ZERO for me but it helps to describe 'poetically' what I mean) and this was one of the unforgettable moments in Fiona's life. Here she sings a resume of all her previous life 'for who can hear', understand, feel it and ''knows'. She looks far while singing, an empty glance looking deep inside herself, far in her past; for a timeless moment, she's out of the time, in a 'trance' as if to connect us to another level of understanding the female wounded soul, healed but carrying on scars. And it's hard to hold back to want to let her know how much we all love her 'wounded soul'!
You always have had such a beautiful and strong jazz slant. You shine in both of ur worlds. THANK you for so much sophisticated much since 1990's. !!!!!!!
Now won't you listen to me honey while i say, How could you tell me that you're goin' away? Don't say that we must part, don't break my aching heart You know i've loved you truly many years, loved you night and day How could you tell it to me? can't you see my tears? Now listen while i say After you've gone, and left me crying After you've gone, there's no denying You'll feel blue, you'll feel sad You'll miss the dearest pal you've ever had There'll come a time, now don't forget it There'll come a time, when you'll regret it Some day, when you grow lonely You heart will break like mine and you'll want me only After you've gone, after you've gone away After you've gone, after the break up After you've gone, you're gonna wake up You will find that you were blind To let somebody come and change your mind After the years, we've been together Their joy and all tears, a-all kinds of weather Someday, when you're downhearted You'll long to be with me right back where you started After you've gone, after you've gone away!
He came to my life, now'I am not happy anymore, ( I am veryyyyyyyyy happy person even I am a comedian type, but now everything is like feels like drain energy) I don't want him in my life anymore.
She really is truly extremely talented. Lyrics were masterful, beautiful voice with classic jazz vibrato. Her signature album had really complex song structure too melodically- it was unusual. She's high quality
Yes, she is pretty, but this is a very stilted version of this wonderful old song. She delivers this song like she's reading the lyrics for the first time. If you want to hear the gold standard performance of this tune, check out Leigh (Lil Queenie) Harris' remarkable version. It's used beautifully in the closing credits of 8 Men Out. ua-cam.com/video/WeSSbbNZRMQ/v-deo.html
Yeah I just checked out that version and it felt really over the top. I just didn't like it at all. I prefer this stripped down version, feels more poignant and the words have more of an impact.
Nice voice but a listless performance. It's like she's reading the lyrics and singing the song for the very 1st time. Leigh Harris' version at the end of the movie 8 Men Out is a 100 times better than this.
@Realstats Yeah, it's sad that people leave comments like that. The original/first recording was by Marion Harris in 1919, since when there have been hundreds of versions, including, I suppose, the Leigh Harris version mentioned above, which I've just listened to and thought . . seriously? A lot of uptempo dixie jazz as backing and some gravelly gutsy sections that didn't really pass for passion in my book, but hey, music is a broad church. I love the Fiona Apple version and return to it time and time again because I find it beyond nice. An amazing voice, amazing phrasing, passion, hurt, warmth, an enthusiastic crowd . . I love it. No idea what makes people post stuff like the last few posts which follow on from a wealth of positive comments. Some kind of attention seeking desire to be contentious. Kinda sad. But no, @Realstats! I'm with you. It's nice. Beyond nice! Classy, uplifting, apparent;ly effortless but soooo accomplished and so musical.
I'll say it again: Bless that man for getting a flat top haircut

@杰出Her 2020 hit Fetch the Boltcutters with Best Alternative Music Album, and “Shameika” with Best Rock Performance.
"Thank you so much...What can I say...umm...I love you so much... and I'll see you later !" And those eyes......
I'm straight for Fiona Apple.
Girl me too
I never get tired of this sub-par video, of the most amazing voice of the century. Fiona is phenomenal.
Works great with the sub-par singing.
@@paulhopkins8148 her singing is great lmao are u deaf
This is not the most amazing voice of the century, sorry buddy
Now won't you listen, honey, while I say
How could you tell me that you're gone away?
Don't say that we must part
Don't break my aching heart
You know I loved you truly many years
I loved you night and day
How could you tell to me, honey
Can't you see my tears?
Now listen while I say

You'll feel sad
You'll miss the bestest pal you've ever had
There'll come a time
Now don't forget it
There'll come a time
When you'll regret it
Someday when you grow lonely
Your heart will break like mine
And you'll want me only
After you've gone
After you've gone away After you've gone
After the break up
After you've gone
You are gonna wake up
And you will find
That you were blind
To let somebody come and change your mind
After the years that we've been together
The joy and all the tears
And all types of weather
Someday, when you're down-hearted
You'll long to be right back where we started
After you've gone
After you've gone away Oh, baby, think what you're doing
You know my love for you will drive me to ruin
After you've gone
After you've gone away
Muchas gracias por escribir la letra

not sure i can say she's the "best" singer but she's definitely my favorite.
seriously how beautiful is she? this song... 😍
The intensity in her eyes is captivating.
The way she reacts when Jon Brion surprises her with the piano tells everything.
I think that was well rehearsed tbh. Shes a performer
@@cmcc3721 I kinda hope not.
me too.
Shes an old soul. God I love her.
so beautiful that it hurts me. I don't know why, but I can't see her eyes without crying
She wasn’t there while she sang that song. She time travelled to 1920 and sang from the past.
the people who attended this are so blessed :'( ideal sort of setup for experiencing fiona imo
I absolutely adore this song!! She is so beautiful and sweet and so is her voice. I come back to this song time after time. I wish it was released so I can have forever. It hits home so often right at the best moments
You can Google UA-cam to mp3 and convert it and download.
When she paused singing, her distance from the mike was so natural and gorgeous.
Her natural vibrato😭😭😭😭😭❤️
I love that ragtime piano solo. I first heard this sung by Judy Garland, which blew me away, and Fiona's version is fantastic!
I first heard it on "Judy - Live At Last - at Carnegie Hall," a 1961 recording. Loved it. I can't decide which is better, hers or any of the others who have performed it since it was written over 100 years ago. Talk about an oldie but goodie.

This is one of the most incredible videos ever recorded
First time fiona apple holy shit her voice is impressive
Melts my heart like butter in a Mississippi summer.
Wow she can sing anything in any era, style, genre...etc
All I can say is . . . WOW! She just never stops surprising me. After "Bolt Cutters," I wonder if she'd consider recording an album of old standards (from any era -- 1910's to 1950's or '60's)?
She does this song so innocent and sweet. I love her smile coz you can see she’s genuinely happy.
she actually said she was miserable on this tour lol
she has perfect voice. beauty and voice.
Written in 1918❗️😲... 😃
My great great grandpa was born in 1918. I miss talking to him

Hey! Just wanted you to listen this song again when you see the notification 😊
She blows me away
She is such a hero!
The first time I heard this, Bessie Smith sung it. To me, this is definitely a close second!
I am obsessed with this song now 💗❤️🥺 I don't know how many times I watched it

Right. 1918.
102 year-old song, and she makes it brand new again.
i adore Django`s version but this one is...
