Mushroom Growing: Step 4. Moving Spawn from Jar to Monotub

Clean everything with alcohol. Add boiling water to the coconut coir, vermiculite, gypsum substrate. Cover and let cool. Then, shake colonized grain jar to loosen, and add to substrate. You can mix or, as I do here, make an “empanada” to discourage side-pinning and (possibly) to avoid the need for a casing layer later. Cover and let sit undisturbed for as long as possible (watching moisture and humidity in the tub).
