  • The FIDE Candidates Tournament 2024 takes place from the 4th to the 22nd of April in Toronto, Canada, deciding the challenger of World Champion Ding Liren in the FIDE World Chess Championship 2024. The tournament is played as a double round-robin with 14 rounds.
    Time control is 120 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 41.
    Players cannot draw by agreement before Black's 40th move. In the case of a tie for first place after 14 rounds, a playoff is played.
    The total prize fund is €500,000.

    Vidit made a lot of bad moves in this game, especially with the rook being out of the game for many moves.

    I simply don't understand Vidit's move Rook b3? From the practical point of view you put yourself in the pickle. Difficult to get the Rook out of there.
    I watched the live analysis, everyone was favouring Black's Pony on d5 and then Bishop on e7. On c6 that Pony was not so active. I love Berlin, I'm sorry Vidit lost.

    Moving the rook to a plateau is certainly an armature staff and dull game by an aggressive genius. heartbroken......

    Ke5 was one of the players(or arbiter)putting kings on central white squares to indicate winner, mistakenly recorded as final move.
