Wow! Its really wonderful that you guys watched 'Aamis'. Its a gem from from my land, Assam. "Aamis" in Assamese actually means 'a non-vegetarian meal'. Im from Kerala and I watched this like 4 months ago after my friend's suggestion and lemme tell you fellow Assamese people, THIS MOVIE IS FANTASTIC. I couldn't really stop thinking about this movie for about 2,3 days after watching it.
I'm so delighted that Rick was spot on recognizing the significance of the guy rejecting her flesh. It symbolizes not only his own dilemma about adultery (He's seen to have searched 'Platonic') but also the societal manacles in operation. However, his disillusionment with the idea of love is also evident when she becomes obsessed with human flesh in general and not only Sumon's flesh. Albeit, he somewhat reconciles himself with his desperation to provide for his lover and that's what eternalises their love as shown in the final shot.

This is the first time I stopped in the middle of the review and actually went to watch it before returning. One of the reasons I did this was because I found in the comments that this movie shares its Director with Kothanodi (my favourite of the two Assamese movies I had seen before). I highly recommend that one too. This director seems to have a penchant for the dark side of human beings and for bitter-sweet endings. I swear I spent the last 15 minutes or so going "No, no, no, stop!" Then when that end shot came up, I found sobs wracking my body. If the one act was not considered illicit they might not have gone down the other, if you know what I mean?

I'm from Assam. We love that you reviewed to our Assamese movie #Aamis too! ❤😃
I absolutely loved this movie! And yes, the end shot made it perfect what otherwise looked like a loose ending. It's amazing that you loved it too!
This movie is so so so good. It freaks you out but you can't help but appreciate the makers of the movie. No show off! A genuinely terrifying love story!
Watch village Rockstars and Bulbul can sing, both brilliant Assamese films
Kothanodi too
It's 2021. Watched Aamis and came back to check the review 👍 Aamis- Masterpiece ❤️
I recommended this to you from the beginning of my introduction to you months before.. now you have watched it. Now I recommend "aruvi" tamil movie to watch and do review
Loved the review. Thanks Rick and Korbin for bringing Assamese movies to OSR platform. I am an Assamese (from Guwahati) but based in Delhi for more than a decade. My exposure to Assamese films was only through Doordarshan during my childhood days and now through regional TV channels during my annual visit to Assam. So, this will be great experience for me to be in touch with Assamese film reviews through OSR platform. Much love to you both. 🥰🥰🥰
Thank for reviewing an Assamese movie. It was a masterpiece.
Watch Bhaskar hazarika's 1st movie kotha nodi too... That's also available on movie saint.. You will love this one too❤️
And another amazing assamese movie is maaj rati keteki available on Netflix
Aamis means non veg😁😁in Assamese......
In assamese its "aamix" and not "aamis"
yeah amiss is also non veg in bangla
Thank you so much guys, I am from Assam and watched it long back. It's a great cinema indeed
Malyali cinema and east Indian (Bengali cinema , Assamese of late) are brilliant cinemas when it comes to creativity and originality.. hindi movies had a spin off in the form of parallel cinema which produced mind blowing movies but it's dying now... All we are left with ( on the commercial side) remakes and over the top acting... Please do watch ship of thesus and the japanese wife as well.
It's one of the best Assamese Flim in recent times😌❤Love from Assam guys
except bollywood all other indian film industries are great because they value talent not nepotism.you should next watch patallok or phobia
please, South India is full of movie dynasties.
this movie effectively de-constructs the popular myth, "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach.". Asamese is my sister language.
I am from Assam. Aamis literally means non-veg
"This is the world of the motion picture", I'm in with your thoughts Rick.
I just stopped after initial reaction and saw the trailer...gonna watch first..
Thank you for the spoiler alert
These South Indian guys boosting South Indian commercial cinema must watch this masterpiece from Northeast India.
@@sailashasrabanika6753 well every time..a South Indian movie drops even average one, they say its an Oscar level movie. Visual effects is not enough. Simplicity is the main factor of a good cinema.
I think in all your movie reviews from now you must state whether it is "Oscar Worthy" (yes or no) at the end.
This movie was pure Oscar material. Bollywood can't even touch this kind of concept in coming 100 years.
I am from Kerala. Watched this movie a month back. So good . It's another level of love, desire and may I say lust of a different level?
I'm glad that you both loved a movie from my birthplace. Feelin' proud uwu
where can i watch the movie? I have been trying to but couldnt access it.
