Louisa “Lou” Clark (Clarke) lives in a quaint town in the English countryside. With no clear direction in her life, the quirky and creative 26-year-old goes from one job to the next in order to help her tight-knit family make ends meet. Her normally cheery outlook is put to the test, however, when she faces her newest career challenge. Taking a job at the local “castle,” she becomes caregiver and companion to Will Traynor (Claflin), a wealthy young banker who became wheelchair bound in an accident two years prior, and whose whole world changed dramatically in the blink of an eye. No longer the adventurous soul he once was, the now cynical Will has all but given up. That is until Lou determines to show him that life is worth living. Embarking together on a series of adventures, both Lou and Will get more than they bargained for, and find their lives-and hearts-changing in ways neither one could have imagined.
The film also stars Charles Dance (“The Imitation Game”), Jenna Coleman (“Dr. Who”), Matthew Lewis (the “Harry Potter” films), Vanessa Kirby (“About Time”), Stephen Peacocke (“Hercules”), Brendan Coyle (“Downton Abbey”) and Oscar nominee Janet McTeer (“Albert Nobbs,” “Tumbleweeds”).
Sharrock directs from a screenplay by Jojo Moyes and Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber (“The Fault in Our Stars”), based on the book by Moyes. The film is being produced by Karen Rosenfelt (“The Twilight Saga” films, upcoming “Max”) and Alison Owen (“Saving Mr. Banks,” upcoming “Suffragette”), and executive produced by Sue Baden-Powell (“Elysium,” upcoming “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”).

@@norelymorales2244 if you read the book you'll get it. It was harder to see in the movie but Louisa has very low self esteem and self worth. She doesn't see herself as worthy of a better life. She's completely broken to a point where the only joy she has is in her wardrobe. Will shows her there is a huge world out there waiting for her to explore. He believes in her ability and helps her gain the courage to let go of mediocrity. He's the only one she opens up to about (BOOK SPOILER ALERT) getting gang raped. because of Will Louisa is finally able to move on from that stage of her life.

This movie ruined me . Possibly more than Titanic and The Notebook ever did to me. It's so hilarious and beautiful but so HEARTBREAKING. Watched it for like past 15th time already and everytime i watch it, i still cry like a baby like it was my first time watching it.

This is honestly very real. We often feel that way, not just because you get tired of dealing with everything but because you see people you love sacrificing and putting their lives on hold to help you. If you truly love someone, you don’t want to do that to them. One of the greatest joys is seeing others happy doing something they love or are experiencing for the first time. 😘😘

Fashion.. He helped her heal from the tragedy that occurred to her in her past and she helped him enjoy his last few months on this earth.. He died knowing he helped her gain independence and hopefully a full life... If you read the books you will see she ended up finding love again.

I have watched this movie for more than 20 times. There is nothing that you don't like about this movie. Brilliant acting, amazing songs, a heart-touching story , Emilia's eyebrow and most importantly a lesson in "How to live your life".

This is one of the only movies that makes me cry. It’s when people refuse help, they need it most of all. This movie really spoke to me. My uncle died years ago. But he never told us he was ill. Never asked for help. I never saw him when he was in hospital. I miss him so much but I wasn’t there for him when I should have been. The moral is, eve if they don’t ask be there for anyone who is unsteady. Or you may loose them quicker that you expect.

I normally don't watch romance movies they are just not my thing but gave this movie a go coz of the guy that plays Will (Sam.C) and I absolutely loved it, it made me laugh,smile and cry to the point it took me 30mins to calm down, I'm so happy I saw it, it's confirmed a few things and opened my mind more to others.....This song has been in my head since I saw the film and I'm 100% happy it's there

The thing is I understood will choice to die he was in pain and paralysed but the thing is he loved Lou she was scored on his heart the first day she walked in with her sweet smile and ridiculous clothes and her complete inability to ever hide a single thing she felt but if he never had the accident they would of never met cause they really weren't suppose to she would of been invisible but they did and will love her so much he set her free to have a life he knew he loved her and couldn't be the man he wanted to be with her Louisa was special he was depressed for Two years but Lou came along and made the last 6 months of his life she made him happy I know he never was going to change his mind but at least he didn't die depressed and never had some fun Lou made his final time special

when I first listened to this song about a year ago I cried like hell when " this house don't feel like home " cause I was far away from my home in Syria bc of war , now i'm listening to it again and still not home .. guess I'll be unsteady for a little while ..

i have an abusive father. he slapped me when i was young. i got yelled at most of the times. cold treatment? i get it when i speak up for myself. however he becomes bearable as he grows older, as he didn't raise his hand towards us anymore. however, his words and actions still hurts most of the time. i thought of running away from home. but i can't leave my mum. i even talked to her to divorce him. but for some reason, they didn't. i hate myself for hating, cursing my own father. i blame myself when i get angry at him...
as a result of our relationship, i become a person who is hunger for affection, hunger for love. i don't really know what it's like to be loved...

Hi, I have similar story as yours. Its my mum verbally abusive me when my dad ill-treated us. It took me years to let go of all those and deal with my own anger, hatred. I told my mum for divorce too. After all its their relationship which we aren't responsible for their fault. I am craving for love and affection too which I notice I am not loving myself enough that's why I want it from external sources. Let go of the past, focus on your own life. We don't get to choose the first 20 years but we can decide our future. Reject all those negative self-depriving thought, love and take care of yourself and no one can hurt us unless we let them. I read the book then watched this movie right after a really hard time in my life!. And this movie meant alot to me as it help me deal with alot I was bottling up!
I went through two major surgeries to remove a large tumour inside my spine! Both surgeries and my case rare and doctors had never done it before!
I was lucky we caught the tumour when we did as any longer left untreated it would have paralysed me from the neck down or killed me!
So this book and movie really touched home at just how luck I had been. And I suppose should me what could have happened to me if I had not gone to doctors when I did. X
