This is the Gunai GN29 Electric Bike - A mountain bike style Ebike that is extremely quick and has brilliant range. The 750w motor feels way stronger than most 750w electric bikes I've ridden. It's a fantastic cheap and fast electric mountain bike.
So how do they have such great specs for less than 800 euros? Let's find out.

I bought one of these so I can get to work without cars of buses. And holy crap am I satisfied, it's so good
Thanks for another great review.
I often travel that same stretch of canal that you use, in fact I was along there yesterday. I also discovered that track that leads to those solar panels a few weeks ago while riding my new Lankeleisi RV800 Plus E-bike. I'm sure to run into you one of these days.
Keep safe.
I literally discovered it the weekend of filming this. We have some amazing places near us that I had no idea existed. The tunnel under the M54 is also very impressive with the graffiti. Thanks for watching, make sure you say hello if you see me.
@e-VRC If see you, I'll certainly say hello. I come that way about every 2 days weather permitting. I ride along the canal from Bloxwich then through Wolverhampton and get off the cut at the Anchor pub at Cross Green.
Happy safe riding and keep up the reviews.
@kenharvey9714 wow quite a way then! We walked to the Anchor for the first time a couple weeks back which is what lead to the choice of location in this vid. Lovely walk. See you on the road/canal 👍
Awesome review, thank you so much for all the effort putting these videos together, The GN29 looks fantastic and huge spec for the money! I just clicked the link and see there is now a GN27, looks quite a bit more refined but compromise appears to be less power / speed, are you planning to do a review of the GN27 anytime soon? Best regards, Peter
I didn't know about it tbh. I'd ask them but I have way too many in the pipeline I'm struggling to keep up and don't want to brake contracts. Sounds good though 👍
Thanks for all your videos , this bike is appealing to me being an ex mtb er from the 90s (yes im old) trouble is getting one in the uk also the prices seem to have gone up on on their website
No problem. Yeah annoying we have to pay more.
@@e-VRC just read thru the comments after posting … cardinal sin.. sorry yeah it’s still not badly priced even though ..
Duotts C29 Same bike? I read C29 has 65 Nm. The GN29 only 50 Nm. True?
bargain, wicked range of ebikes for the price :)
This seems very comparable with Doutts C29 with 750W and 65 NM, similarly priced. Have you tested and compared?
Good value bike, see you if you get them to send you the GUNAI MX02S 2000w with two motors !!!😁
Yeah I asked them about that but they said it was out of stock. I think they really wanted me to review this one first. Looks a beast.
Hey bud nice review ,looks like a bit of a bargain .Thing is i am six feet four and was wondering if this bike would be way to small for my height ,I already have a Wisper ebike but for my tastes it`s way too slow so i like the look of the speed on this , or have you sped it up on the fly using a hack of some kind .Anyway thanks for your review ,it looks like a lot of fun cheers
Thanks for watching! No hacks, it's just a very quick bike. It didn't feel like a small bike. I didn't have the saddle raised all the way, it may well be fine for 6'4 but obviously I don't know for sure.
Great bike! Do you know if it's charging the battery while you are pedaling with the display ON while assist level is set to zero? Or maybe charging the battery while pedalling with display OFF?
@@dbocsan nah it doesn't do any regen charging sadly. Check out the Duotts c29 it's very similar to this. Possibly a little cheaper.
Do you need a licence for the bike? 750 watt motor? Will a full motorcycle licence do?
Olá, quantos ciclos tem a bateria? E quantos wh tem a bateria? Quantos quilómetros deve fazer?
Obrigado e grande abraço
When will you do a further review of this bike, after watching thus video three times earlier I'm on the verge of buying this bike but will take your advice to wait until a further update from yourself,I'm a huge fan of your ebike reviews by the way.
I wasn't planning on doing another review, did I say I would? I've been impressed with the bike despite a few annoying things like the flappy mud guards. Thanks for watching I'm glad you enjoy the reviews 👍👍
Oh you said after the hill that they was more test to come now I've watched it back again, meaning the brakes, suspension etc,not another video,my fault.
@@jumbees5524haha no that's understandable.
hey i have a question! does the bike last a long(does it perform the same way after a few months?)
I sold it not long after the review so I can't say, however the buyer has my details and hasn't asked me anything since. Also the bike is very modular - the ebike bits are kind of bolted on afterwards so everything would be really easy to replace.
Was this bike available at 799 euro ? Can only find it at 999 for uk . Actually saw you out riding this . Looked a decent bike .
Oh it seems when you hit UK it changes from 799 to 999 due to shipping I'm guessing because of bloomin brexit. Oh cool where was I?
I'm from the Tuns and harrowby was my local years . I'm now over Deansfield but often out around Bushbury (USA) on my bike . There's been a few of your reviews that have interested me but this one jumped out as its much like a normal road bike . The L20 similar to the Fiido also interesting me .
Its a interesting bike im tempted to buy but the website suggests they don't ship to the UK or their website is confusing?
It seems the price to the uk was more expensive probably due to shipping. They have weird price structures.
@@e-VRC Well its on amazon i dont know if they would do it or not?
@steve64464 i think they ship to uk from their site. 969 euros to uk though which comes to about £840 still a good price for that bike but a lot more than people in the eu pay.
@@e-VRC Ill have to try contact and get some clarification regarding their shipping locations , Maybe its a language barrier or something.
Im sure you have had this question 100s of time😄.
Of all the bikes you have tested, which the one bike you would use for a daily commute in a busy city centre ?
If I had to carry things the Engwe L20. If I didn't then the m20 although I'd be a bit worried about police thinking i was on a bike so maybe still the L20.
And no, first time I've been asked 👍
Thanks@@e-VRC
@@e-VRCquite like this, similar to what I was thinking before. Would I miss a lot of gears by going down from 24 gears to 7 or 8 on another. Probably would towards the top end.
That is a tidy MTB for around town and things. Not sure what other bikes are going to crop up with you. I came across a delta and a delta plus MTB earlier, twice as much as this though.
Any idea if this has been discontinued
The delta is good and has 27 gears, £1600 mark. The assists is via a throttle.
Don"t think it has a power throttle which is a pity but power assist 4 and 5 should be ok and make pedaling good after cut off unlike 7 gears.
Just realised, it be an eco battery, if someone want long range, costs £1899, £2049 with display. 10.4 amh and display £1874
What's the better this or DUOTTS C29 ???
Duotts same price, same bike, different paint, brings a phone holder and you can charge your phone on it
Has anyone else in the UK experienced problems trying to get this bike? Gunai do not seem to be willing or able to supply my UK address with a delivery of the bike. How the hell do I get one?
Some brands just don't want to ship to the UK since Brexit. My next video is the Duotts C29 - very similar to this one.
Iv saw you few times, want ro ask you what i would get for 1k only live around corner
What kind of bike are you looking for? You can get a decent bike for 1k
Where have you seen me?

*So, apparently eBay won't let anyone list for sale any eBike that goes faster than 15.5mph or has motors rated above 250w, startin next week* 😱
Banning the sale of them I am NOT ok with 😱😱
Oh bloody hell that's annoying. That means we shouldn't be able to buy hoverboards, esk8, euc and escooters at all.
@@e-VRC dont give them any ideas will ya 😂
😂😂😂😬😬😬😬
eBay has been awful for the past decade anyway. Impossible to sell on there or use it due to the high possibility of being scammed and PayPal have scaled back buying protection somewhat in recent times especially when they were sold off.
@@JudeTheUA-camPoopersubscribe yeah, stopped usin eBay 12-15years ago but it's not about eBay at all though, it's the presidence, a well known resellin site bannin them does not bode well.
that looked lots of fun but of course illegal....i prefer the looks of full size bike over the 20 inch bmx style.... but that engwe l20 is on my final 3 list
Ended up buying the Engwe L20, at £950 price was good, its a heavy bike but lots of power great shopping bike
@eggy1962 how well does it go up hills or steep places? I'm stuck between the gunai gn29, engwe l20 or engwe m20. I'm struggling to decide 😢
@@Hassan-ub7hs the Engwe L20 i have powers up my pretty steep hills with minimal effort on my part, it will go up on throttle only but i do not wish to put any real strain on the motor. Its sit up straight riding positions is better on my arthritic spine. Being critical its heavy and doesn’t fold so i use this one on my local ride of 10 miles mixture of streets hills and flat cycle path. I also purchased a Samebike LO26 2…. Its a folding more mountain bike style bike which i use rides away from home , its lighter but a little less powerful but i can ride longer distance as its 21 gears means i use less motor help. There are plenty of reviews on youtube for both bikes. I paid £950 for the engwe l20 back last october and £750 for the samebike about 6 weeks ago.
@@eggy1962 cheers man. For me personally, I have no need for the bike to be foldable so my only worry was about how well it (L20) can go up steep hills. Appreciate your help though
the bike is 1000 euros ?
Yeah just under. Looks like the price has gone up a bit. I don't remember if I had a discount code.
@e-VRC unfortunate that it went up 200 euros🥲
But obviously this bike isnt legal in the uk yes?
So...
@@nizzy4333 so riding it in the uk isn't a good idea
Yeah but it looks like a normal bike you'd never get pulled over or have any hassle. As long as what you ride around on doesn't look like a motorbike then you are good.
@@JudeTheUA-camPoopersubscribe yes that's true and something to think about, it is a very good price
Jeez bud most of the accidents on the roads are caused by people going too slow on bikes , a high geared ordinary bike can go in excess of 35mph so obviously the cops aren`t going to stop you unless you are a mental case on the roads
This bike have very high speed and not so good brakes if someone buys it i sugest not going at high speed
@@user-bn8qr2gz8l i keep my two ebikes at the 15.5 mph settings they came with even tho they are both 750w, i do have liability insurance and at 62 yrs old consider myself a sensible rider.
These budget bikes are getting good. We just need a massive breakthrough with new battery technology then lithium stuff should get even cheaper and everyone will eventually be able to have a decent ebike for cheap
Agreed. And it would be nice if they use a chemical that doesn't explode so violently. Maybe whatever was in the 'ex wife' in Iron Man 2.
@@Greatuesu-sg1br if they start making batteries which cost 50% cheaper, have double the capacity in the same size, and don't lose massive efficiency in cold weather then ebikes would be way more usable. I love mine but unless i ride it at 20mph constantly i am able to drain the 52v 17.5ah battery in under an hour and a half of riding lol.
