Wow, a great story. Congratulations. I suffered with heartburn for years, treated it myself with Ranitidine, until that was outlawed. I didn't drink much at all, but hard liquor, whiskey, etd, really did a number on my stomach, burning, acid reflux, etc. My heartburn and reflux was triggered by certain foods---citrus fruit, some tomato sauces. That's when I saw a doctor who immediately diagnosed Barret's Esophagus. I have an endoscopy every 3 years and it's been good, taking Omeprazole every day. I wish you a bright future Josh!
Well done Josh I’m in the same boat and I’ve changed my lifestyle significantly but I’m still left with a constant aching throat which I’m struggling to get any answers from doctors on and I’ve come to the conclusion it’s lpr but it’s really difficult getting any help on, anyway good luck for the future and I’ll be following you closely.

Hi Josh your video was really motivated. Thank you. Could you please tell me how you manage your stomuch acid? I'm taking pantaprazole 40 mg at morning and 20 mg of pepcid at bed time also one table spoon sucralfate, but not working.
I have had bulimia nervosa for 1.5 years when I was 16 years old / 17.5 years old. After I read the possible outcomes in the long term (Barrett esaphogus), I immediately stopped.. However at the moment I am 20 years old and worried if i might developed barret esophagus during this period. Dont get me wrong, i dont have any symptoms like GERD, but im still worried about the consequence. May I ask how long it took you to develop barret esophagus? Google says 5-10 years / 10+-years, but Reddit/UA-cam ect says that it can develop in as short as one year..
Hey I'm 20, i had a gastroscopy and i was diagnosed GERD and chronic gastrits. I have been suffering from heartburn, chest pain, etc for 7 months. I have no hiatal hernia i took meds for several months but nothing, i also follow a proper diet. Everything started while i was training at the gym and i started feeling a bad chest pain and nausea. I don't hit the gym since may 2022. Are you able to lift heavy weights in the gym ? If yes, do you have any tip?
I am able to lift heavy in the gym, but I understand what you're talking about. With the chest pain and general tightness through the chest and abdomen, training hard can be tough. There's no secret to being able to work around that to lift heavy, it's going to be about healing so that you are able to feel good when lifting. A couple quick things that helped me with symptoms were bone broth (when things were bad, I was drinking a cup in the morning, afternoon, and at night), and making sure my last meal was 2-3 hours before bed (3 hours is more ideal).

Hello, I hope you do reply as I been trying to learn more about BE. I am 29 years old and in shape doing CrossFit daily. I recently did an upper Endoscopy for GERD and found out its complicated by BE which is benign but precancerous mucosa directly related to chronic acid reflux. I do eat healthy, but I do drink a lot and do nicotine pouches. I am now aware of my condition and will limit my drinking and try to stop the acid reflux. My question is I am scared as I am young, and do you think long term It will get worse to develop to cancer or any health issues? I really appreciate your videos and hope you will reply. Any recommendations I will take fully as I would like to live a long health life. I did start taking PPi recommend from the Dr, but only read bad things about it.
Hey! The more data that has come out, the less likely it seems to develop cancer. Especially if you manage it well with diet and lifestyle. PPI's aren't ideal long-term, but they are a decent stopgap while you get everything else aligned. Definitely want to cut out the alcohol and smoking asap. It can be a scary diagnosis, but you can do a lot to prevent disease progression!
@@joshscutnik I have BE. Two of my GI dr's told me I could have a drink once in a while. I was never a heavy drinker, just socially. Maybe once or twice a month during summer but could go easily 2 or 3 months without a drink. My dad passed from esophageal cancer and it was horrible. I haven't had a drink in almost 2 years. i do miss it at times when socializing or on vacation. On my last DR visit she said I could have a drink everything in moderation. Maybe check out Dr Batman’s water cure and also sleeping at a six degree angle with head elevated and entire body at angle. Plus lugols iodine. Maybe baking soda but you’d need to be very careful with that, water may work better for getting body less acid. It’s lots of water and sea salt, weight your weight in oz plus a half teaspoon at least of unrefined salt like Redmonds or Celtic. And some have to go slow due to swelling and lot body flush salt its holding onto. Plus maybe fasting or infrared but that needs to be done where you don’t lose too much water or nutrients while doing it.
I keep it simple. I don't drink alcohol, I eat primarily whole food, nutrient dense foods (plenty of fiber), very minimal processed food, though I occasionally enjoy in moderation. I had to avoid caffeine completely until my symptoms were under control (this took a few years before I could have coffee again). I also don't eat 2-3 hours before bed to give myself time to digest.
