One of the best videos for making gloves. Yes it is easy, but the way you explain/show the construction makes it even easier for us visual learners! Thank you
Fantastic pattern thank you. I’ve followed this with soft dk for my toddler and size is exactly his size as you’re doing on this video. I like how you explain and show the yarn and written instructions on the screen too. Definitely will be making more of your patterns. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this pattern and tutorial. I made these mittons and I am just a beginner. I made a matching hat for a Christmas present for my Aunt. They turned out so nice and I am pretty picky! I will be looking at more video from your channel.
You can always do an invisible decrease right at the start to take away that extra chain if it shows up!! You just stick your hook in the front loop, twist it to stick your hook through the front loop of the second chain adjacent, then yarn over and pull through all three loops on your hook! It’s pretty seamless and hard to spot if you accidentally end up with one little extra chain.
This video is the most easiest way of doing gloves for crochet I have found and I have searched a lot thank you so much I have started to make these mittens for my local homeless shelter
I have followed your instructions along the video and it was very helpful!! Thanks you for that. I used another size of yarn so I messed up though. So, I would recommend that you explain why are we doing this round, what are going to have when we finish it and if someone uses another size of string how should they do it. Other than that, it was great!
This is a very nice video. It’s the only one I have found so far that has a good looking thumb. Love the way you did the ribbing at the end. It’s a classy looking pair of mittens thank you for the tutorial.
on the second part of rounds , round one in the thumb , i didn't quiet understand what you meant by ( 10 ch , skip 4 on round 16) because i didn't see where you used it in the round 😅
Lmfao I absolutely love this pattern thank you so much, but I gotta say the soundtrack is like an epic movie lol I feel like I'm crocheting to a dramatic scene or something
This video is great and easy to follow. I have a question though, when I pull ( 1:16 ) it doesn’t create that star in the middle. The stitches looks squashed together at the bottom. What am I doing wrong?
@@HandmadeByMei you're most welcome. I'm new to crochet just found your page yesterday. I've made the gloves and now trying my best to do the pink purse 👛 (the crocodile pattern) you are very clear in your instructions and I’m so grateful to you. When I figure out how to post pictures here I will so you my final project. Thanks again! 💜💜💜
The cuff is taking me longer than the whole mitten. I am either doing it wrong or I can’t get the tension right. At this rate I’ll need 100 rounds to get it to wrap and it’s taking forever. 😢
Don't know if you came back to it at all, but the instructions were to alternate dc and 2dc on the third row. It sounds like you did 2dc around the whole thing.
extremely confused after making the 10 ch for the thumb... how did u end up at the other side when you said to do 26 sc in total?? i read the other comment asking about this but im still confused after reading the replies 💔
Idk how to do row 8. Because when I finish row 7 it’s still 30 stitches. But when I do row 8 like row 6, I’m confused. If 4 stitches are used 30/4 is 28 with 2 remaining. What do I do?
Hi! Wondering what size is being made in the vid? This size was perfect for me, now making pair for my mother with skinnier hands. wondering if i should downsize. Thanks!
I have made one mitten using red heart super saver yarn and a size H/5.0mm hook, but for some reason it came out huge, like man size. I do like the pattern, should I try again with maybe a smaller hook size?
For the cuff, in just a few rows it is starting to make a trapezoid shape instead of a rectangle. Will this straighten out as I go or am I doing something wrong?
When you're pretty new to crochet, it is so easy to pick up and/or drop stitches. The very last stitch is kind of twisted and hidden, and having a turning chain can be confusing. Just count your stitches every couple of rows that you do. You can always use a stitch marker in the first and last stitch as well until you get used to it.
I love these mittens and am going to try making them but your video is very blurry so hope I am able to complete them. I noticed your other videos are blurry too, why is that?
Oh it is!?!? Thanks for letting me know. I know it is not at the highest definition and I do noticed it sometimes it's quite blurry and sometime it's not. And I thought it's my internet. Anyway I am looking into a new video editor. Cheers
Are you trying to 2xDC into each stitch? It should be alternating a DC, then 2xDC (two into same stitch) for 18 total stitches. The math would be 12 stitches from the previous round, + 6 for having an extra DC every other stitch.
You need to do 1 double crochet, then in next stitch do 2 double crochet in the same stitch. Do this 6 times. You are turning each set of 2 into 3 . This equals 18 st. Then next row do dc, dc then 2dc in next . 6 times . Turns each set of 3 st into 4st, equals 24 and so on.

How many yards of 4 pound worsted weight can make one pair of mittens? I’m curious because I’m actually going to use a bulky 6 wool. I need to convert. If anyone has made these please let me know how many yards of #4 yarn you have used for one pair of medium
I like this video, I am a beginner at crocheting and I am not sure how to make the mittens smaller as I am part way through and think they will be too big, any suggestions?
OMGosh, doing the thumb is hard when you have fat stubby fingers that don't want to cooperate!!! hahahaha!!! But, I'm still enjoying making these mittens!!
I have a quick question on the pattern. I got through the mitten and started working on the cuff. In round two you slip stitch the first and last stitch, and slip stitch through the back loop for the middle stitches (10) for a total of 12 stitches, and then in round 3 it says to slip stitch the first and last stitch again but to slip stitch into the back loop for 12 stitches? Where are we supposed to get these extra two stitches from?
@@HandmadeByMei Okay thanks! That's what I ended up assuming. I just got a bit confused because the phrasing was inconsistent. Almost done with my first mitten. I'm excited for how it's turning out!
Would be helpful to know how much yarn is needed for each size. I bought your written pattern thinking it would be there, and it isn't there either. Disappointing
Hi, I normally don't put down how much yarn is needed for small projects like this. For this project I used less than 1 ball (300m) of yarn, if that helps. 😊
It's actually very easy to follow. Some people are finding their stitch counts off because they're counting the chain one or chain 2 in the beginning of each round as stitches. Ignore it. Don't count the chains.
I swear to god there is no way that after round 5 it’s 30 stitches there, i remade it like 6 times, watched video even more, doing it step by step theres extra 5 stitches
The cuff is not an easy design! Should really consider making an easier way of doing them. Going to look for an easier way myself and hope i can finish the mitten
There is a much easier way than doing it separately and having to attach it later. When I finished my last round I simply chained 13 (so I would have 12 stitches since I started in the 2nd from the hook) and SC down the chain. Chain 1 and turn at the end. Then SC in the back loop only. When you get back to the end slip stitch into the next 2 stitches (not the one closest to what you just worked, but the next 2) turn and just keep repeating doing SC in the back loop only, chain 1 turn and go back up the row slip stitching into the next 2 stitches. When you run out of slip stitches all you have to do is line up the 2 sides of the cuff and slip stitch together.

love the look and texture of the single and double crochets alternating

this tutorial was great, this was my first time making mittens. Turned out super cute ❤
Hm... somehow I ended up with 31 stitches....
This happened me too, I think it is because I use the first stitch twice. Once in the beginning and then once in the end.

I'd like to make these for my 4year old grandaughter. How do I adapt size please?
I wish I knew how tough the cuff is before I started🥲
Is there any way you could make a better video for the cuffs? I’m not understanding how to do this part.
Did you flip the mitten inside out at some point? I got to round 17 and realized my work looked different to yours on video
Very nice to work up .😊

I’m sorry, I feel dumb for asking, but how would I translate this to a right handed mitten?
On 3rd row I ended up with 24 double crochets including the the 2 chains at beginning...if I do 18 dc I don't complete circle....

The chain one and chain 2 at the beginning of each round doesn't count as stitches.
how much yarn does one pair need?
Double of 12 is 24....okay I finally got what you were stating...
16:24 there’s no total st count. I’m assuming it’s 10?
16:49 also unsure how many st. R7 suddenly turns into the end of R7.. is the (sc into 3, sc2tog) supposed to repeat once?

Why can't I get 18 double crochet on row 3 ,ist 12 × 2 = 24 ,this pattern does not work, any one else having problems.
