First of all you should have health insurance.of 50lakhs min.
Secondly many hospitals now unofficially accepting sale deed papers of your land as mortgage ( eg.Many formers land papers are still held with a hospital in Guntur named Lalitha hospital)
Finally as a thumb rule don't put everything in one basket
So ...invest in real estate, mutual funds, gold , stocks etc.

After one year Long term Capital Gain Tax will be there on profit you earned, not on invested amount. Example: Invested 1,00,000 after 1 year Invested Amount became 1,10,000 on 10,000 you need to pay Capital Gain tax 10%

Emergency fund. You can invest in liquid funds. Few funds have insta redemption facility. If you withdraw money, amount will be credited in next 1 hour upto 50,000.
Example: if you have 1.5 lakhs emergency funds. You can invest in 3 liquid funds. For which you can withdraw 1.5 lakhs in 1 hour from each fund.
